- Here's everything you need to know about the Hyliion Hypertruck ERX, including real impressions from a test rider. Hyliion has taken a unique approach to creating an electric drive vehicle. Instead of being dependent on the electricity grid for power, the Hypertruck ERX is capable of charging its own batteries using natural gas. By using natural gas, many common issues associated with battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are avoided. Learn about Hyliions unique approach to electrification by watching the video above.

Thank you for your Hyliion coverage. Hyliion is an amazing company with a young, innovative CEO and I have personally sat in the ERX. I am impressed by their products & company culture and want to see them succeed.
Still amazing ??? today 10-11-23 Hyliion stock dropped over 45 % cause now they are no longer making the ERX.
Finally a good Hyliion video with meat on the bone
The technology is very promising
It's the only solution that makes sense.
Great video. ERX is the way to go
Awesome :) Thank you for the coverage and including a testimonial fromma fleet owner. 😊
That’s a lot of benefits from the ERX compared to the status quo. Hoping fleets are able to take advantage of the new technology allowing for a huge shift away from diesel consumption!
What is innovative about a hybrid?
Brilliant Video! More HYLIION always appreciated
Awesome content. Would love to see more of Hyliion!!
Hyliion has a bright future imho. Cheers
Very interesting. Sounds promissing
This was an awesome video! Thank you for "hyl-ighting" Hyliion! They are the logical solution for fleet's needs. Hope to see more Hyliion coverage in the future! Thanks!
Great presentation and video. Thanks for sharing and creating this content!.. Hyliion sounds like a game changer!
Excellent video! The only right now class 8 solution, go Hyliion and Hyliion team!
Great video 👍 what brought about posting this now? Much of that content is from ACT in May. I'm just curious why now? Did Hyliion request it recently?
Your boy is in the ring ! Fighting for the sp . Trying to get some respect in the E.V. Game
Electric drivetrain with natural gas generator, well done. Way better than a diesel generator for the noxious fumes, thank you!
Excellent content, very much appreciate this offering!
Nice video showcasing the technology, benefits and barriers to adoption. I watched this video after learning that Hyliion has decided to exit the powertrain business (including Hypertruck ERX) and focus mainly on the KARNO generator offering for stationary applications.
Great video! Only viable solution 👌
Fantastic video! Thankyou for this contribution!
Thanks for video! Go HYLN!
Great young company with a product that makes sense. No need for coal produced "zero emission" electric from BEV. This does what it says on the tin. Brings the grid with it on board and uses our own pollution (RNG) to make it move!! No brainer for me. Thanks for the coverage
When finally CARB approved, the ERX Will be even better than a zero emission truck, It will be net negative emissions when fueled by RNG
And a lot of the refueling stations in CA are RNG, actually there are quite a few across the nation that have enough RNG in the mix to make them carbon neutral. The best the Tesla Semi can do is zero carbon when recharged from renewables, which is only 20% of the grid on a sunny windy day, which means they are more often than not using coal or NG (with grid line/transformer losses) to recharge the Tesla, which is worst emissions everything said an done than the ERX.
Gran trabajo, que se conozca más la empresa
Great video 👏🏻
Great video!
US Residential Propane Price is at a current level of 2.611, up from 2.601 last week and down from 2.708 one year ago. This is a change of 0.38% from last week and -3.58% from one year ago. US Residential Propane Price measures the price in USD per gallon of propane.
Users video well done very informative 👏
This is great
Nice
👍🏻👍🏻
What does he mean when he says, it doesn't qualify as 0 emission truck in some states? Is that going to be a drawback? Is that what the other fleets are saying as well? Is that the reason they are not jumping on board?
Because it is a hybrid. It is not a true zero emmision vehicle.
To the moon!!!!
So, why no sales if product is so good?.

You would think they would release more of this so they don’t get delisted
how this doesn't qualify as a 0 emission truck? can someone explain?
It has a tailpipe with small carbon emissions, but much less than diesel. It qualifies as an NZEV in California, or a near-zero emissions vehicle.

Did he say it drives like a diesel?? This tells me he did not drive it at all.
Probably intended meaning was to say that it "performs on par with a deisel tractor" in order to provide reference for the intended market.

Can't wait for one of those to catch fire. In a tunnel. Stuck in a traffic jam. 🔥🔥🔥
Why dont you just use natural gas directly instead of converting into electricity? Dont you lose efficiency?
Significantly more power/torque than a standard natural gas engine...670 hp. Greater range as well.
Electric drive is alot more efficient than ICE.
Menthane does not actually burn clean and half is lost to the atmosphere on its way to the end user. Cleaner than diesel locally, really dirty on the systemic level. Battery trucks are viable and probably cheaper to manufacture due to being simpler.
Yea but this is a big improvement. Have to be realistic for long haul.

So you invented the hybrid. A system in which all the major manufactures have had for decades and marketing it as innovation... Busses have been doing this for decades as well. No wonder so many of these fly by night EV companies go bankrupt, it's all just nonsense marketing burning through VC or PE money.
Different than traditional hybrid Car. Full electric drivetrain with battery pack. Only electric motors. The generator keeps the battery pack charged. Kinda like a diesel electric locomotive except with a battery pack. Which will give you regen, nice.

Why is this truck not considered a zero emissions vehicle? Does natural gas give off emissions?
Yes. Natural gas is better than gas or diesel but not zero. The extraction and shipping infrastructure of natural gas is under a lot of scrutiny lately because it leaks so much into the atmosphere. It is methane which is a quite a bit more powerful greenhouse gas than C02. Still I like this better than diesel. The generator does not run continuously, only when needed for charge.
