I do the same thing, my husband has weird days so I have dinner done by 4:45, and I'll do an easy baked chicken or turkey meatballs and potatoes going by 2:30-3 and slow cook it. Keeps dinner simple!

I used to have a sink like yours ( farmhouse style ) & I started to enjoy putting a small dishpan in my sink full of soapy water.... that way, I could soak my dishes or just easily wash them up in the dish pan and then rinse the dishes right next to it. Worked out great & was very helpful in my efforts to save water. Anyway, just made my life a bit easier when I had a large sink. : )

I have been struggling lately with some habits of laziness that i developed out of dealing with a chronic illness. I was taught as a little girl to wash hands after touching any kind of meat! This is in reference to the other comments. Also the children don't need to be on the table or counter when preparing meals as in other videos. I am from a family of 10, we had safety rules.
I have been growing my own bay for several years. Where we are now, in Central Arkansas, I did have to go to a pot, as my tree in the ground has not grown as quickly here, as in Texas. Once the leaves are harvested, they do need to dry out for several days before storing or using.
I love the cottage. So cozy. You did a wonderful job 👍 I was very fortunate with my six kids. They all slept in their crib for naps from day one and all night in their crib. Very easy to get them on a routine. Of course that may not/and doesn’t work for everyone. But it sure worked out nicely for us. Hang in there. Looking forward to your next video. 👍
I have a question for you on your dough you use for bread etc. Do you ever wash the main container out with the dough or just keep adding to it? Any if you keep adding does the old dried up dough on the side bother or spoil the new dough? The cottage looks adorable. Very homey

It was very similar to yours. I loved that style except for the fact it was electric. I later purchased a modern gas range which is much better to cook and bake with. Yours is wonderful and it looks amazing! I also wanted to mention how beautiful your children are, absolutely darling!💋

Hello -I loved this video but if I can add a suggestion because you have a beautiful mattress and topper, I would suggest using a vinyl bed covering or cotton waterproof material to protect against any stains. Hope your guest enjoy their stay , which I know they will.

To use up excess eggs and milk we have a pudding /breakfast prob UK origin. baked custard. it’s just milk eggs vanilla touch sugar. baked in water bath. the other thing i do for milk is rice pudding. rice boiled/ simmered in milk vanilla. touch sugar. again good ingredients for a brekkie. hello. from australia.

Would love to know how you manage activities like sports outside the home with your oldest kids. How do you keep a boundary so it doesn’t consume your life and so you keep a simple life at home? I’m so worried that if I sign up my kids for sports we’ll loose the simple life and will be like everyone else with two kids that’s stressed and living in chaos. Would love to hear how you guys manage it .

I did try making sauerkraut recently but that batch molded, I used the core as a weight, so I’ll retry it once I get actual weights and the right lid. With the pickles you did does it matter what cucumbers to use??? I usually plant burpless ones, at least I think that’s the name, but I might have to experiment again with another kind??
I like roast a small chicken in my cast iron skillet and make a quick gravy from the tasty bits at the end. 😋 I actually did that tonight. Put the carcass in the crock pot to make roast chicken stock. More bang for my buck!

That chicken looked a little dry, I cover my chicken in butter breast down, then foil before popping it into the oven. Keeps it moist. P

Question: do you have to bake sourdough bread in a Dutch oven?
Not necessarily...you just need to bake it in a vessel that can withstand high temperatures.
