I appreciate you showing that someone with fine thin hair can loc I attempted to start locs on my own. I also have thin fine hair. I feel hopeful about my beginning locs
🙌Yessss! Congrats on your journey. Our struggle can be a little different with fine hair, but Just trust the process and your locs will be flourishing in no time! And if you start to get anxious, you can always switch things up temporarily with a wig or box braids. ☺ best of luck Kim!
Omg this was so helpful! I’m a little over a year loc’d and have this happening. This was super helpful bc I didn’t know what to do. Thanks so much boo ♥️
My hair is this thin as well, been natural for years rocking 2strand twist , twa etc. tried twice going to get locs started. everyone don’t know what to do with challenge hair so I wasted $$$. Went 1 last time to locnitist. She made me feel really bad said hair didn’t have strong foundation, but I had started my locs myself 2 months b4 going to her, but took them out for consultation. I’m 4 months in. And i too have to start locs where there wasn’t any hair. Thanks so much for your beautiful video .❤️
😢I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience!! Our hair can loc too!! It just takes a little more work to maintain in the beginning because we have to Retwist our hair more frequently! But Im an example that fine/thin hair does grow. Just keep going and keep giving it love! Stay with it love!! 💞. And check out my more recent videos to see how much my hair has grown since this video!😘
Nice video glad you took plunge to embrace your natural hair to its fullest. With my baby locs I plaited them as they came out all the time. Eventually I took some of my sons hair & used that the extend the length of them to match the others in my edges, it’s been a few months a & they doing great. Thank you for sharing 👍🏾🇬🇧
I have the same thin spots that are filling in so this video was really helpful! I also did square partings in the back of my head and more diagonal lines in the front like yours so I can really get a visual of how mine might grow in. 👍
I know you said you don’t care too much about having perfect parting but girl you were giving me anxiety while doing it lol the whole time I was talking to the screen like wait you missed that piece of hair lol
I was watching yo see what you did with stray hairs too! It is important to maintain the base & strength of your loc so glad you incorporated the hairs to their right place. If left it can eventually lead to thinning of locs. 😊
I actually had a square without lock-in the middle of my hair, when I started my lock, my whole scalp was covered with hair, I couldn’t figure out where to place it, because the other locks are too long for the growth, so I sectioned it and crochet it to other locks around it 😊
girrrllll.......thank you so much for this video....at first i thought there was no hope for my hair......my hair is also thin especially my edges too .....but now seeing your video I'm going on a month with my two strand twist starter locs.....i been working on my edges they are coming along slowly but I"m not giving up....u also inspired me to keep going......when will you show any updates on your locs?
When your hair get to this stage, the best thing to do is to cut your hair short so that the ends does not get pulled by the heaviness . My experience and it worked.
Aw thanks so much luv, I appreciate that! This hair color is just box dye. I always use Cream of Nature. ☺️ You can check out this recent video if you are interested in watching me apply it. th-cam.com/video/-SrMh-FZXiU/w-d-xo.html I also did a more detailed video about a year ago if you were curious about the actual process. Like how long I left the dye in etc. 💕 th-cam.com/video/Zq0w3YxkHW8/w-d-xo.html
@@jesslocd gerl, I'm so glad you got back with me so quick! I am, literally, right in the middle of making this commitment and this video is one that is helping.....any products you recommend for a noobie?....right now I am just wearing 2strand twists with water and castor oil...
Thanks for your video Jessdidit just started to loc my hair in October of this year am having a lot of growth I have fine hair also however when I try to retwist it's not as tight as when my loctician does it any recommendations?
I don’t think any of us can get our Retwist to look as good as the locticians, they are magicians 🙌😂 If you have a good one, keep them! 😆☺️ happy locking. 💞
Its nothing special, just some aloe vera I grabbed from the beauty supply because Walmart was out of the Fruit of The Earth brand that I usually use. And I can't remember about the porosity, I always get high and low mixed up. All I know is my hair is thirsty AF!!! It needs moisture everyday!!
@@Clauserline hey sis, I have low porosity hair and there is another aloe Vera gel clear that you can also get from the beauty supply store. It’s in a clear bottle, super inexpensive and can be utilized for your skin as well.
I only use oils and water. Any oil will do, use what you prefer. I use castor oil, but feel free to use any oil you like. (Jojoba oil, tea tree, macadamia oil, pepper oil, etc.) Hope this helps 🙏 ☺

How many months are you at now sis?
Currently 1 year, 8 months Locd. This is an older video. Watch my box braids take down video to more recent footage of my hair.😊
@@jesslocd Thank you. I will be sure to check it out.
Why are you retwisting your hair..Hair naturally realists itself..you are going to lead to a heavy lock on a weak root..Cutting hair time
