I would also like to post this in the aid of anyone who no longer needs to be on Paxil. I am sure many might stumble upon this as well with that similar question. Honestly if you are on it for a long time or prescribed to be on it for a life time it's going to be hard. I do fully recommend to try to use a combo of benadryl + ASHWAGANDHA. Benadryl helps wonders with brain zaps. (previously I mentioned kratom but a lot of people have addictive personalities and shouldn't use that if that is the case). This from experience has helped the best. I also broke the pill down and went 20 - 10 - 5 - 2.5 with at least a week in between. I am NOT a doctor so be sure to communicate openly with your doctor!
most common question : * see updated at top this is old * Do I still take Paxil ?
Recently have made the switch over to Wellbutrin since I had gained a lot of weight (not everyone is like that + it is possible to lose weight normally still) the weight isn't bad as long as you don't have obsessive eating with it like I did. I have a sedentary lifestyle also that most don't which weight would then go unnoticed. I have blood work coming up for testosterone / thyroid / blood sugar due to stuff running in my family so will update if that contributed to any ill mental feelings as well. Thanks for all the support! PLEASE feel free to answer others or tell your stories in the comments!

Thank you for this video, I watched it before agreeing to take paxil and it really helped me make the choice. I honestly feel better, I used to wake up everyday feeling crazy fear/doom even though nothing was wrong, and it started working almost right away for me. It's honestly a gift to be able to enjoy living, and all this time I worried medication would make me a zombie. Totally not the case. This video deserves way more likes.

I get so frustrated that people will say "you don't need medication"....they don't understand that for some people, it's on another level. Just because anxiety is common, they think it's not possible for someone to have it far worse than the average person who can just go to yoga and be fine. They don't understand that for some people, medication really does improve quality of life tremendously.

Paxil is awesome! I went from suicidal to having a girlfriend and a life.
    Been on for ten years.
Went off once, and lots of people noticed my withdrawal.
It silenced the self doubting voice that replays conversations. My own voice that constantly told me how stupid I was.
It did make me a little light headed, sleepier(lots of naps). But it has been a positive life changer.
Used to have to make sure none of the neighbors were outside before going out to get the mail..

@@Sam-fg9lf hi Sam! Yes the very first day I took it, I had extreme nausea. The thought of food made me wanna vomit. Noises made me wanna vomit and feel dizzy. I think the nausea got better after a week.
Now it has been 3 weeks, and my appetite for food is super low. I am eating 30% of what I used to. Yawing a lot. I make myself go to the gym 3 times a week so I still have great energy.
I do find that it is helping to make a difference in lowering anxiety. I can talk to people without sweating haha and can keep the conversation going and actually enjoy the back and forth now.
I am sticking to this med. It makes mundane things interesting. Like I have more attention and appreciation for the little things in life. I treat people with care and love myself more since the meds.
Insomnia has not gotten better yet. Fingers crossed. Hope you have good results with a SSRI. Apparently people react differently to different brands of SSRI. I got lucky with the first one I tried. No issues in the bedroom as sexual dysfunction can be a side effect. Xoxo

Similar story here. I heard terrible things about prescription medication and was scared to death of taking it. But thanks to modern science, medicinal drugs such as SSRI’s and Z-Drugs have fewer side effects, less chance of addiction, less chance of tolerance, and can be taken for longer terms. I had gotten minor PTSD from security work which caused me social anxiety and I always assumed people were criminals. So I was a little on edge, I’d ALWAYS assume people were up to devious acts, and I worried I was being judged everywhere I went. Because of my SSRI (Amitryptamine 25mg) I’m feeling normal again. I use to be so anxious I wouldn’t even sleep some nights. Best part is I started taking SSRI’s during my favorite time of the year. Halloween (Oct) Thanksgiving and my Bday (November) and Christmas (December) I can now enjoy my holidays with family and so far I’m sleeping pretty descently. I almost feel like those happy people in the drug commercials. So glad I was born in this time era. Any other era and our doctors would be prescribing us cocaine syrup and snake oil. 😆

Hi Byhusna! What paxil does, explaining in a simple way, is to elevate the serotonine in your brain. Paxil and other SSRI are usually used in depression and anxiety disorders. Anxiety causes people to have obssessive and repetitive toughts, lack of sleep, despair, panic attacks, over situations that wouldn't need any of these usually. Depression causes abscence of happiness and pleasure, abscence of hope, crying easily, isolation, suicidal toughts and ultimately suicide attempts. Paxil and others SSRIs make people have less of these symptoms. In other words, makes you view life with more optmism, reavaluate your problems in a more clear and calm way, decreases sadness and make you more comfortable, decreases suicidal toughts. So yes, you can say in a sense it changes your pesonality, it changes the way you see the world, but you will continue to be yourself. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you be accompanied by a doctor to prescribe it and see your reactions.

Thank you for sharing your story. After having read SO MANY negative stories I was starting to freak out. I felt like I had to start taking meds (again), because my anxiety/ depression and OCD were causing major anxiety attacks. In the past I already tried Zoloft, Citalopram and Effexor. These meds did absolutely nothing for me, except give me side effect. So I started off with a dose of 20 mg Paxil about 7 weeks ago and decided to go for 30 mg 2 weeks ago. It surprised me that after a week I was noticing a positive difference; I was able to leave the house, make small talk, laugh more etc. It's unbelievable, especially seeing after how much I was against taking antidepressants. But it's really a personal journey. What works for one person, might not work for the others. I'm curious about a couple of things. Are you still on the meds? How did you realize this was the right dosage you're taking? I'm having trouble figuring that out, because I feel like I should stop as quick as possible, but on the other hand I feel like I should increase my dosage to see more effects.

I so agree with you about people passing judgement on other people's medical needs. So what if a certain medicine doesn't work for everyone. It may be ineffective for one person but life-giving to another. And also, just letting people know, herbal supplements are drugs too. Stop feeling superior because your choice of drugs is interpreted as "natural" by your self. Chemistry is chemistry. Thanks to the OP for a great video!

Where you having panic attacks before you started, and if so, how are they now? I’m starting Paxil at 15 years old anyone got any things to expect?

  • @joeybellavance9844
    @joeybellavance9844 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I started taking paxil at 15 years old for social anxiety disorder at 20 mg . I didn't understand why I was getting prescribed an anti depressant when I was really not depressed, I was living in fear everyday, not depressed. I thought that might cause problems and later in life it really did. I went from 20 mg to the maximum dose, 60 mg, later in my life. I am 37 now and In the last year, i very slowly, which is really important if withrawing, went down from 60 mg to 20 mg and I will eventually stop it for good, which I thought I would never be able to do because everytime I tried to quit, it was just getting worse. I tried quitting for years but trying to quit cold turkey or too fast is 1 of the worst nightmares I went through. I also learned that eating and digesting food creates serotonin and a problem that I had for years was eating before I was going to bed, also with only having moved around very little all day, which logicaly made me understand that I wouldn't digest a lot at night, then I wouldn't be hungry during the day so I wouldn't eat during the day, so I wouldn't secrete serotonin during the day, so I would have no energy, I didn't even have the energy to take my shower. Not spending energy during the day made me sleepless at night and eating before going to bed made the cycle keep going. Leave yourself 3 to 4 hours to digest before going to bed is best and whether it's best for you to take your meds earlier or later during the day, the most important is to take them at the same time everyday to avoid an imbalance which is 1 if not the main reason to take ssri's. Taking paxil really helped me, even saved my life. It blocked a lot of my fears but also took away a lot of my emotions which I figured out, had everything to do with my motivation. To me, taking paxil was lifes way of helping me confront my fears and stop me from ruining my life and others with my irresponsible behaviors. I hope with all my heart that my experiences will help you and others. Thank you so much for taking the time to have read my book of a comment lol

I would say this as best as I can to a person regardless. Can you live a productive life without constant anxiety and depression or in your cause the OCD getting in the way ? That should answer the next question on should you get on a ssri / antidepressant. If you answer yes to being able to live a normal life skip it and try some CBD I have reviewed in the past ! Actually is recommended for things like OCD / anxiety / depression as I have slight OCD as well. & You don't have to commit. You take it as you will and if it doesn't work at least you didn't commit time to adjusting to the SSRI as they do cause some with drawl depending upon the chemical make up of said persons brain. Hope this helps
