Hopefully they take this to a whole new level. From the start MiSTer was a project made to fit the DE10 Nano and there are comprises to meet that requirement, now we can have the board better fit the project.
Yeah, one thing that makes me very hopeful about this project is that they seem to be in contact with Sorgelig and this can potentially lead to great things in terms of Mister platform advancement.
Great point - hopefully there will be improved iterations
Having one of these in handheld form would be brilliant and I'd definitely be up for that. I've got the steam deck and am tempted to get an anbernic or Retroid device and hell even the zx touch is on my radar but a handheld MiSTer like this would be top of the list.
Right on 👍
Yeah I'd buy that. I love my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, they're great budget handhelds
Having an entry level FPGA gaming device should be the goal to attract new people. We are years away from seeing any tangible, stronger cores, and the barrier of entry is too high for the average gamer to justify the prices.
Good news. The Cyclone V FPGA chip on the DE-10 Nano is about 10 years old, and it wasn't too long ago that the DE-10 Nano board used to cost $130.
Yes it’s excellent news! A low profile MiSTer in a MiST like solid metal chassis hopefully with midi ports on it 👍 and a MiSTer portable too!
I have to wonder it it will be open source - probably not, but at least we can build cases/accessories
Only $99 for it PCN? My cheap skate ways are kicking in again bro. Looks really well done for sure. I like it . Thank you for giving us a heads up towards it my good man. 8^)
Anthony..
👌
Yes, do a handheld, but please dont screw up the D-pad!:)
Thanks. I appreciate this. ☆
Thanks, it's exciting 😀
When will it be on sale?
First batch, likely in a few days.
The only downside is the existing aluminum cases won’t fit with the new board :/
Who care how the MisTer looks, its meant to be played with, not being a piece of art. lol.
@@PurpleTeamer my point is, if my de10 nano breaks and I need a replacement board, I’ll need to buy a new case too, because the new board won’t fit. Also, you should 100% use a case. Your MiSTer deserves protection during transportation, handling, and from the elements.
@@richarddukard8989
I use an acrylic case. I had an aluminum one but the temps are much better with the acrylic from china.
regarding the DE10-nano boards, it was going to happen. This is why I purchased 3 of them as spare part at retail price before normies put their dirty hands on the MiSTer which caused the prices going thru the roof.
I still want to see how these clone will do. the DE10-NANO was overpriced anyway.
This could be the affordable fpga Iv been waiting on
It would appear so. I certainly hope it delivers 1:1 experience 🙂
@@PixelCherryNinja if it can run the Saturn core I’d be sold for sure.. Amiga, dos, pce and arcade would be cherry on top excuse the pun
@@jamiec2023 love the pun 🍒🍒🍒
Taki has shown Saturn in this video, so it's looking good so far. Can't wait to test it for myself.
This would be great for my second MiSTer... 😊
It must be a clone cyclone V, there's no way it's real at that price.
I was planning on finally getting a case to make one of my two DE10s more portable, but if this materializes, I'll just build a travel MiSTer instead!
Let's wait and see how this clone performs. We'll find out in due time.
You think this mister clone has the potential to run dreamcast core?
It's a clone, so it can only do what the DE10 NANO can do.
I'd like a handheld with a dock
when docked it integrates hdmi and analog output
as well as tapto (built in)
dock should look like a consoles with snac and usb ports in the front and all other connections in the rear
It should also come with a crt and two arcade sticks😜 Hell, why not throw in a ps5 while they're at it??
7 tabs of the same video is crazy lol
I just had different bits of the video on pause. It made getting to the part I wanted easier.
Better power compchompshon will be a game changer.
You spell how I speak 😂
Well done 👏
WHERE I can buy?
Not available yet.
Can you provide a complete link to the clone board
It's not available yet.
I'm all in ready for this. Maybe two! 🤪
My only concern is there's meant to be less logical units than what's on the original DE10-NANO.
So a more intensive core like the AO486 core might be no go.
I can't wait to get testing.
@@PixelCherryNinja crack on! 🤪
Really can't wait! 😬
@@PixelCherryNinja sounds much more hopeful this project... You might get to play this before the very hot MARS FPGA system! 😆
AO486 is the most pointless core since you can just run dosbox on pc to achieve the exact same results.
Consoles, Arcades cores is where MiSTer make sense in regard of input delay plaguing emulators on pc and lazy modern consoles ports.
@@PurpleTeamer getting sexy midi sounds via MT32-Pi via AO486 or any other midi compatible core is NOT pointless.
Hearing is believing.
I would buy this.
I love that controller.
I like your work too 😄
from all the stuff i have read on this there will be no improvements i will like to see it have more b-ram and more bandwidth enough to get mk and N64 running

Did taki confirm the $99 price tag includes the ram module? Coz it would be bad to have a MANDATORY ram module as an additional $15.
Its extra
99+15. Ram is "mandatory" only for certain systems (yes, the most famous and sought after, still not technically "mandatory"). A bargain, if you ask me.
And I don't care if Taki gets a cut because I don't believe the whole "Covid made boards expensive" bullshit. Terasic is just applying an obvious Exonomy law: the demand increased and they increased the price. That's it. The board could be sold ar normal prices now (same as the clone) but some dickhead decided to keep its price doubled.
Im so in!!!!!!
That's what she said 😂
I wonder how Intel feels about all this .. hopefully they don’t rain on our parade ..
I won't be annoyed for spending so much on MiSTer, if this works I'll buy 3 or 4 lol
That's the best way to look at it. Don't get sour grapes (I know some people will, and that's pretty natural).
Taki claims he's the founder of the clone board company. He's already one of the most influential figures in the scene. His practice of "being a sportsman and referee at the same time" betrayed the community and will greatly impact his credibility in future videos.
Linus, the host of Linus Tech Tips, invested in "framework laptops" three or four years ago. Now, the slow sales have proven that even if the product is targeted so precisely, the celebrity effect can't bring a niche product to the mainstream, nor can the TH-camr themselves maintain the trust of the viewers simultaneously. Not to mention that retro gaming is a highly saturated market, Mister is too minority, expensive, and highly rely on mood-depend third-party developers.
Taki took a risky and profitable move in the short term, I wish he can bring some bargain to the circle while keep the quality of the future content.
Are you the whole community? I think this move could greatly benefit the community and solve most of the problems you have with the mister
@@DonjiPicudo@DonjiPicudo Sure, I'm not representing the whole community, and from the price point, yes, it benefits the FPGA community a lot. The current problem is that the price of core boards has skyrocketed, which will boost the price of analog boards, memory, shells, and other related accessories.
Once the price of core boards comes down, I think a complete system of about 150 US dollars is not far-fetched. A more accessible setup will definitely empower the retro circle and gaming preservation.
I am only worried that Taki himself will overlook or even discourage another technical route, like software emulators or Mister ports, in future videos.
Can you elaborate on the "being a sportsman & referee at the same time part? I have no idea what that means in context.
Yeah personally I don't trust Taki whatsoever, he clearly has some sort of a deal worked out with a Chinese knockoff manufacturer to always be advertising/founding? products like this. If it works and is nearly identical to the MiSTer that would be spectacular, but I'm highly skeptical of the quality and durability/longevity the product will have based on how cheap it's been priced for.
@@NinjaRunningWild this is a popular Chinese movie quote from Steven Chow's Shaolin soccer, means one who making rules also playing the games and taking advantage from the position. In the ⚽ football context it's like ”being a player and a judge at same time”. FYI: this is technically a Hong Kong movie and should use the term football instead of ”soccer”🤯
