U can use the factory bank beats along with the SP. Just change the MIDI channel just like what you did on your video. Kinda sux you have to jump to octave 2 to have all the samples on bank A of the SP available immediately.
@@Verysickbeats A well-loved and well cared-for pair sold as a combo on Reverb not so long ago. You can get them on e-bay, usually from Japan, but apparently often in dubious conditions.
I bought both off the strength of his videos. I got my samples set up nice on the sp but now I gotta learn the dr. There’s no good dr 202 tutorial on YT that I can find.
These two were actually designed to work together. If you were buying Roland to replace Akai in, say 1993, I'm guessing you would have grasped and possibly saved for the combination. A set just in perfect condition just sold for under 500 dollars on reverb. Now it sound really good also as an educational device to teach you all the basic hip hop, drum and bass, and jungle beats which are fucking sick!!!
Dope sounding gritty combo Jay Filt! does DR202 has a MIdi note OFF messages to external samplers? does its sequenser has a Swing option in Quantise, is there a way o somehow transmit own samples via MIDI to it..? maybe silly questions , but i am thinking of getting one for a combo with SP303 but donno if its sequencer better than SP303 ?
This was cool to see! I'm still getting the Circuit Rhythm when it comes out instead of this combo but one fine day I would love to have these two.The factory sounds on the DR202 are sweeeet!
I recently got a dr groove after watching some of your videos I have a question how do I delete a user pattern from the device I don't have a manual thanks
Very sick! What up! What power supply are you using for your dr groove my man? I am hunting around for one and I would love to get one that is recommended. Thanks!
The Dr Groove is still, to this day, my favorite drum sounds. The analog drum sounds and 808 sounds are shapable to be unique and huge sounding.

Thanks for the tip!
my pleasure
This is wild. I have an sp 303 and a DR-880. I'm gonna try this. Thanks for the tips, Filt!!! Always a blessing.
No problem!
pro tip : you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Cesar Bentley yea, I've been using flixzone for months myself :)

Good call!
I bought the boss 202 in 98. I always wanted the drum machine. Sometimes I want real-time production

does it works for sp 505 boss .. i did a same steps but nothing happen ..
thanks anyway
🙂↕️
not sure unfortunately but thanks for watching
Yo J, can I connect my sp 202 to a dr 770, dr 670, or dr 3 in the same way as with a dr 202?
i don't have those other machines but as long as you have midi, you can try it
I'm surprised more beat makers don't own these two together.
it's a sleeper combo that doesn't get enough shine

Yes there is swing option. Hopefully this helps - support.roland.com/hc/en-us/articles/201946299-DR-202-Synchronization

You could sample the DR202 onto the Circuit as well! I have a drum library for my Tracks that came from my DR processed into my SP.
I got two sp202s and a dr groove 202. So excited to try this out. Never knew about it. Thanks a lot
Have fun!

Watching this video again lol

Would you prefer this setup over an Mpc 2000? The price range is about the same. I already have an sp404 and Mpc live but wanted to try something else
no but you should do what's best for you
@@Verysickbeats 👍
Yo I just saw ur stuff on tiktok this I'd amazing
much thanks
thank you for this
my pleasure and thank u!
That was my setup one time , I bought both of them I was making quality beats with those units together

Can you record that on the Dr groove and play it back without using the SP?
the samples won't be played without the sp
@@Verysickbeats thanks to you I just got me a dr groove today in the mail 😊 I learned about them right here on your channel from you
u the man
im humbled
I did everything but when I press the pads they light up on the 202 but there's no sound?
maybe try setting both machines to default settings you may have to google how
@@Verysickbeats is this external? Which means the Dr 202 is controlling the chops and the audio from the sp202 has to be heard by another speaker?

go to user pattern, hit delete, enter

i got a generic one from radio shack at the time, i would just google search it
This is great! Thank you. This helped me set up my SP202 with my Arturia Beatstep sequencer. Works same way with holding down pad# to choose a channel
Glad it helped!
One of my favorite videos I'm studying this bout to get me some midi capables soon thanks verysickbeats 🖤
you're welcome
Can you work it the same way with the Boss DR 202 & the Boss SP 303?
in theory yes
Very helpful video, thanks for making this!
Glad it was helpful!
Love the channel homie. For whatever reason I can't get the Dr.202 to play at the same time as I trigger the Sp.
make sure the midi channels are corresponding
I was really looking forward to this video. Thank you for doing it. Greetings from Argentina, land of Maradona.
My pleasure!
How do I get my drum pattern to play along with my samp from the
Sp 202
sequence the sample into the dr 202
Shout out JFilt with the machine naming flex.
LOL
Do you think the 404 can do this?...... I still have my DR drum machine.
yes indeed
@@Verysickbeats thanks bro,
I couldn't find a sp202 10 years ago, much less now. That's awesome.
they're still around lurking LOL
same. i had a sp303, but traded that and my mikro maschine for the sp404 mkII which is not as good as the sp202... no internal mic 😫
Any quick fix advice?
or turn off any effect that u may have on the sp
Cool to see those units paired together.
