  • **SPOILERS FOR THE STORY OF THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM**
Something was off when there was no sight or mention of the Ancient Sheikah in Tears of the Kingdom, after they had played such a prominent role in it's Prequel, Breath of the Wild. I have a theory that connects the two ancient people of both popular Zelda titles, that you aren't going to want to miss! I lay out all of the evidence that concludes that the Zonai and the Ancient Sheikah certainly had a relationship.
I want to acknowledge MonsterMaze's discord user MagicPixieDreamGirl, who was able to provide one of the most significant pieces of evidence to this video

While idk about all the details, I definitely agree that the Sheikah are connected to the Zonai. When a 5th sage was revealed I was so sure it was going to be Purah. She is the embodiment of Mineru's successor- they're both knowledgable/techy, similar in appearance with their half-closed eyelids and googles, and then everything you mentioned with the connection between the Sheikah and Zonai (eye symbolism, connection to spirit/shadow, etc). Also in the cutscene when all the sages figure out that there's another sage, right at the moment of realization the scene zooms in on Purah! To me it really felt like Purah was set up to be the final sage, and I wonder if the decision to make it Mineru was a last minute thing.

she probably is the successor of mineru as the sage of spirit, since she is technically the equivalent of a present day mineru. it wasnt a last minute decision, since a whole dungeon and bossbattle, and shitmedeadwhatnot was set up. if we ever get a dlc, im pretty confident, that purah will be the bearer of minerus secret stone. given, that the story progresses a bit in that direction, ofc.

If no DLC comes out soon for the very purpose of confirming Purah as the new Spirit Sage my guess is that they'll leave that revelation for a _third_ game in the "Wild trilogy" which will wrap this Link and Zelda's storyline.

I would add one thing that i noticed. The divine beasts helmets that you can get in a quest after completing the dungeons are said to be the same helmets the sages worn during the imprisoning war but these were zonaï helmets whereas the one you get are sheikas. My theory is that they are indeed the same helmets but the sheikas modified them afterwards and based their divine beasts out of the helmets to pay tribute to the sages.

Just wanted to point out that the mind's eye has been the Sheikah symbol since at least the time of Skyward Sword, if not longer (timeshift stones have it on them). Not to mention that the Sheikah are said to be a clan that directly served Hylia at the time that Demise attacked the surface.

Makes me wonder why did the 3 elemental dragons sacrifice their mortal selves and for what specific purpose? If it was to forever watch over the 3 springs there might be something of spiritual value there (eg: the Triforce) which could be the key to understand their origin.

We've always known there must be a Sheikah-Zonai connection since BOTW, as many Zonai ruins houses Sheikah Shrines. But what got me really interested in learning more about the Sheikah-Zonai connection is the Mining Construct in the Spirit Temple. That Construct sells Link Ancient Blades it has excavated in the depths for zonaite. But why are there Ancient Blades in the depths? Ancient Blades are clearly of Sheikah origin. (The same blade that is a the tip of Ancient Arrows from BOTW.)

    • @Aladato

Did the construct specifically said it dug those ancient blades?
I figured it was making them down there exclusively and required the zonaite you provided.
Still, we've known that to be Sheikah technology, so it's weird that a construct is providing them (feels like a nod/callback to BotW, so now you could fuse to make your own ancient arrows).

    Two in one for theorizing:
    1) Ancient energy is refined Zonai magic coming from the Imprisoning Chamber. The pillar with Sheikah constellations is a Purification machine, noted in its file name. This energy was redirected towards ancient furnaces on the surface.
    2) The puzzles in shrines are for Rauru, and are meant to test him in the three virtues of the Triforce to refine his spirit. In other words, the Zen Garden aesthetic is literal, this is a meditative place for refining his own spirit. He seems to know about all of Link's hand abilities, meaning he is just as capable as Link to complete them.

    • @blackreaper2247
      @blackreaper2247 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

i'd like to offer another angle,
      1. the sheikah found the chamber, built the constellations as their detector when the Sheikah guardian tech should rise and fight ganon's malice. Sort of an alarm from when his hate has reached a boiling point. Malice is the result of this, the sheikah system does its best to weaken gloom, and instead it survives as malice, which builds like pressure and is released on the land as the calamity. Since Ganon figured out how to bypass/corrupt the system, the sheikah tech is now permanently inert and inactive as the central control center is beyond repair. especially after Ganondorf revives and breaks the pillar itself thus breaking the central hub of all sheikah tech.
As for the second, it was mentioned by the chamberlain's stones that the zonai shrines were created by rauru to trap and purify monsters, the puzzles were later apart of Mineru's design as she was responsible for hiding them away until Zelda's champion;s time would come.

Here's a theory on how the sheikah started that would make sense. Raru and his wife were obviously not the same type of people and yet Zelda clearly from their bloodline turned out to be hylian. Is it out of the realm of possibilities that mineru was the start of the sheikah people? Having found herself a lover of her own? Not much is said about how much time passes before her body withered away perhaps a descendant of hers was born before she became astral form. Which would explain purah being so similar to mineru including skills.

Yes! I agree so much with this. *Spoilers* Also Purah is hinted at as being the new sage of Spirit since she's there when Mineru's spirit passes away and they both have similar headpieces.
My personal canon right now is that one of Rauru's and Sonia's son/daughter is the first sheikah in the ToTK timeline (it could be someone similar to the ancient hero but with white hair and Hylian ears or simply a Hylian with white hair like modern sheikah). They probably had more than one child, one of them had more Zonai features and the other more Hylian. One that stays with the royal family keeping the magic of time and light (this is the side of the family where Zelda comes from) and the second child will act as a spiritual guide, protector and scholar (Impa's and Purah's side)

I think this video is really well put together and I would be happy to see more of your ideas get explored! However, I can't say I find all of these concepts super compelling. Mostly because they erase pretty much all of the information we know about the Sheikah before botw. I think it is fine to theorize that botw and totk retcon the rest of the series and have everything before botw be considered "myth and legend" and not history, but that would be such a bummer that I won't operate under that assumption unless I have zero other option. We know the origin of the Sheikah occured during the era of Hylia before Skyward Sword. They were a priestly race that dedicated themselves to her service, as Impa explains. During that time, they also had advanced technologies as you showed in the video with the gates of time and the timeshift stones. This is all well before the first Hyrule is established by Hylians. They already had their eye symbol in that era, well before any Zonai had evolved or were created.
Considering the Zonai are the 3rd sky-people the series has seen (4th if you include hylians in Skyloft), then I highly doubt they existed or influenced the world until far far far into the future past Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Zelda II. New races pop up in Zelda and are said to have evolved into existence, such as the Rito in botw, or magically entered the world such as the Minish. The Sheikah rarely show their faces, it was only in botw we saw a living Sheikah settlement for the first time. I think its a giant leap to assume that this most recent of sky-peoples were the ones who were the originators of the eye symbol which is confirmed to be nearly as old as the universe itself because of some henna on Rauru and Mineru.
The Sheikah are the secret-keepers of Hyrule and always have been. They keep a deeper understanding of theology, physics, and magic that everyone else seems to forget or treat as fake. Just because no Sheikah is seen during the era where Rauru and Sonia reestablish Hyrule does not mean they aren't there. It's par for the course for the Sheikah to stay in the background even during calamities (ex. Twilight Princess). I do think you are correct that Mineru would have an interest in sharing her knowledge of the Zonai with the Sheikah, perhaps clueing them in that a fight will be had with an entity of malice leftover from the decaying king. The decision to come out of the shadows and embrace technology once more could easily have been influenced by the Zonai's departure, well done! In fact, the Sheikah were the ones who acted on behalf of the royal family to connect them to the Oocca too! So it tracks that the Zonai were hugely influential on their mission. Plus, if we assume Sonia carries the blood of Hylia, the Sheikah failing to save her would be a huge wake-up call to their holy duties. So yes, I highly doubt the draconification bit for the eye symbol, but I do think the Zonai were instructional for ancient Sheikah.
I like your voice and the matter-of-fact way you explore details of the series, it's definitely a great way to go about a topic. For your first video, I like it more than some of the bigger guys out there, really really good stuff.

I really appreciate this comment. I’m not sure what to make of the timeline placement which is a good bit of what you get at; there’s a decent amount of evidence to suggest the ancient past in TotK is after every other Zelda title. But I struggle to believe Nintendo would do that.
I’m not implying the Sheikah didn’t exist and that’s why they didn’t appear in the memories - I mention that I believe Mineru spoke with the Impa of this time, and I believe the Monks were there too. I have a belief (without much evidence) that Hylia was a Zonai, which would make a lot of things line up.
I really appreciate the feedback, you’ve given me plenty to think about!

    • @handsoaphandsoap
      @handsoaphandsoap 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It could also be possible that the Sheikah at the time of the TotK flashbacks are just uninvolved with the kingdom of Hyrule altogether and are just existing on their own somewhere, not really having the same mission as the Sheikah of past games. If the events of the game take place after the events of the other games and the Hyrule being built by Rauru and Sonia is a reestablishment, not the first ever Hyrule, then it’s likely that the Sheikah haven’t really been involved with Hyrule for centuries, or millenia even, since there obviously hasn’t been a Hyrulean royalty to serve. Perhaps after the Imprisoning War is when they get themselves involved, feeling as if they can help Mineru set everything up for Link, or they were already involved with Rauru and Mineru beforehand in the background and that’s why the two of them have similar iconography.
Or it’s a retcon and they’re resetting the entire franchise, idk. I don’t find there to be much merit to speculate on the Sheikah of the past tbh, there’s just so little information about them in TotK that practically any theory we’d come up with could hold true. There’s only 12 tear memories and they show what, like a minute snapshot of the past per tear? There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on inbetween those moments that we have no idea about whatsoever, literally anything could be happening alongside the events of the memories.

Technically Mineru was not the last Sheikah. We know Sonia was Zelda's ancestor, so she and Rauru likely had a Hylian/Zonai mixed child. I suppose it was possible that she had a previous relationship before Rauru+Mineru came down from the sky in their hoverbikes (ancient aliens vibes btw), or that she and Rauru required a Hylian "donor" because of incompatible biology, but it was always my interpretation that as the first king, Rauru's Zonai genes were passed down, and eventually diluted over time until the royal family lost their physical resemblance to Zonai altogether.

Specifically a group of them followed Rauru and Mineru's example of staying behind in Hyrule - instead of going with the rest of their race to wherever they went - to continue to serve the Gods in their own way. The difference between them and Rauru and Mineru is that they hid in the shadows. To do this, they changed their physical form to better match the local Hylians via magic or by Secret Stones.

The Sheikah might not have been so prominent without an ancient Zonai (Mineru) encountering futuristic Sheikah tech (the Purah Pad) brought back in time, by the descendant of Sonia and Rauru (Zelda).
Zelda somehow having slung herself back in time to escape what would have been a fatal drop, caused by (a) Ganondorf- resulting in meeting her ancestors (Sonia, Rauru and by extension, Mineru), thus warning them about Ganon, and Mineru learning of Sheikah tech, to then teach the Sheikah of the past how to make and use technology, leading to the creation of the shrines, Divine Beasts and more importantly- the Purah Pad of the distant future...

I think this is pretty solid. Only thing that makes me wonder is this idea being placed into the scope of the whole series and timeline. A lot of theories put this Hyrule beginning as placed long after a downfall of the last kingdom. I think this Sheikah theory can coexist with that if we consider that everything is destined to reoccur eventually. i.e., the “new” ancient Sheikah develop the weeping eye design based on the Zonai, whereas Sheikah from ages past may have took it from some other inspiration.

    • @javiervasquez625
      @javiervasquez625 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

This makes a lot of sense when you consider the "cycle" which has repeated itself across every major installment in the series where similar events repeat themselves across time with slight differences as seen with term "Imprisoning War" been reused for a different conflict entirely as a group of "Sages" come together to stop a new incarnation of Ganondorf from once again attempting to conquer the land leading to yet another new conflict involving a Link and Zelda. It could be possible that the Sheikah of the Era of the Wild lost their history at some point in the "Era of Myth" before eventually meeting the Zonai and using their third eye as inspiration for their symbol.

Before making a theory please look into all available information.
The eye with a tear drop predates hyrule even the Zonai. Durring the era of the goddess the Shiekah were Hylia's personal body guards and direct servants. During the sky era the Shiekah began to act as body guards for Zelda and her family because she was the reincarnation of the Goddesses Hylia. When hyrule was founded they began to serve and protect the hyrulian royal family because each member of the royal family carried the blood of the goddess.
Breath of the wild states that the Sheikah shrines were created during the last calamity 10 thousand years ago in case the hero fell and needed to be healed and retrained. This worked perfectly for Link after he fell during the second calamity and lost his memory. The shrines full filled their purpose but not for the intended hero. This was evident in breath of the wild when link puts on the cloths found in the shrine of resurrection as they are almost too small for him.
You do bring up a good point about the missing Shiekah but I think the reason could be is that the Shiekah were protecting Rauru and Sonia's children incase they failed against Ganondorf.

The only problem I have with the theory is the fact that the sheikah eye symbol cannot entirely be inspired by the zonal because we see it in skyward sword which predates the founding of the kingdom of Hyrule in TOTK's ancient past. It could be possible that the secrets of draconification existed amongst the ancient zone during the time of Hylia and then the sheikah adopted it as a secret for their symbol, but it certainly can't be the case following the events of the imprisoning war in TOTK and mineru's last resolve !

And we see that zonai-hylian love is possible trough Rauru and Sonia (they didnt have kids but tbh I think she died just too early in their couple life lmao) So what if the techy and focused on both knowledge and draconification, which most prominent cultural element we have is that link to the dragons, zonais, just gave birth to sheikas as time went on and mineru's blood diluted in the hylian gene pool, giving the strong gene of the white hair, typical to zonai and nowhere seen before, and the culture that is now sheikah, evolving their tech and fianlly battling against what was not a depiction of ganondorf in the first game, but the boar like ganon, which is only the spirit ?

have you considered that the Sheikah are non-main branches of the royal family? The could explain the mind's eye motif and white hair. I don't know what a half-zonai, half-hylian child would look like, but the second king of Hyrule and any siblings that he had would have been such a hybrid. All Zonai we see have white hair. All Sheikah, regardless of age, also have white hair. It is what distinguishes them from other hylians. The mind's eye motif is just a reference back to their zonai heritage. This also explains why there's no Sheikahin the distant past : they didn't exist yet because they are just branch-family decendents of Rauru, or maybe even Mineru.

So what happened to the rest of the Zonai?
I have a theory based on what I saw in this same video:
    .
2:26 The zonai shrines were used by Rauru to seal monsters away and have unknown origin.
    .
2:45 The zonai shrines also exist before sealing Ganondorf...
    .
...And where can we see a green zonai spiral being created / surge / appear for the very first time?
    .
8:55 here. Just after Rauru gives his life to seal Ganondorf.
    .
    What if...
    .
What if each shrine was a Zonai who sacrificed him/herself to seal away a dangerous monster / a great evil in this Hyrule of the past?
I imagine this Hyrule would've been a really wild Monster Hunter-like land for at least 152 Zonai to sacrifice themselves.
    .
And for this theory to work, they would've been already dwindled wether from them being stranded in a chaotic, foreign land ruled by many monsters where the weak zonai were prey for the strong and the strong zonai were the ones to put an end to those monsters, sealing them.
....or there were not many Zonai to begin with.

    • @vladdy974
      @vladdy974 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Would that imply that all of the zonai that potentially sacrificed themselves to seal away a monster all contain the power of light that Rauru has, considering the Lightroots that exist below each surface shrine, and that a portion of their light power is available to whoever can pass through? This kinda means that light is the original power of the zonai. How does Mineru contain the power of spirit instead?

Mineru can't be the last Zonai, because, while not shown, the King and Queen have to have a child before everything takes place in order for Zelda to be their descendant. There are too many options to explain why the Ancient Hero looks the way he does that to simply say the Zonai race became extinct 10.000 years ago _because_ of that Era's Hero is simply too lacking in evidence to consider a solid conclusion.

Literally clicking your video to put on a watch list because I'm in a meeting and I cannot put on audio to the video yet, so I will watch it later. BUT I have a direct theory that infers the "Ancient Sheikah" were actually the Twili, or those known to be held within the Twilight Realm.
This theory stands to reason that the "Ancient Sheikah" were effectively worshippers to the Zonai originally. They studied and mastered their magic, along with new magic and ways to utilize what the Zonai brought from another land in meaningful ways. They're responsible for creating the Labyrinths (not the Zonai) and they worshipped the ancestors of the Zonai, who were Din, Nayru and Farore. The theory then accepts the backstory of Twilight Princess as them reprising the role of the "Interlopers", whom attempted to overthrow the Zonai, before creating the Kingdom of Hyrule, to take the Golden Power & Triforce.
This battle waged, with the Ancient Sheikah and Gerudo joining forces, and this in turn leads to the hatred of the Zonai from the Gerudo tribe, along with the ones held prisoner in the Depths (Twilight Realm). Before the founding of the Hyrule, Rauru and the three others, whom swallowed their stones (Not the 3 goddesses, but their descendants) swallowed their ancient stones, sealed the land of the God's known as then as the Sacred Realm. And within the Sacred Realm, was a singular temple at this time: The Temple of Light (Rauru's ancestor). This temple did not "house skyward sword nonsense lol", but simply was the location where the Zonai placed their artifacts to keep safe post the war, and hid behind the Rauru's magic, and his alone.
The theory than spans the belief that after Wind Waker (Yes, adult timeline), the Twili (Ancient Sheikah) found their way back to the planes of Hyrule, where they then assimilated. They transposed history, utilizing the "New Kingdom" as a way to re-establish their place. They created mythos and lore behind the "Demon King", along with their role within the ordeal -- Knowing the Demon King was sealed in that location, as Mineru had enslaved them to mine for Zonaite, it's evident they worshipped him.
Overtime, their plans were to attempt to steal the power of the Triforce, which they succeeded. And this was the "Ancient Battle" that was talked about in BOTW; With the spirit of Calamity Ganon waging war on Hyrule. In turn, they wished for something (Because apparently that's what the triforce has become lol), and presto. BOTW story meshing with TOTK.
In TOTK, we see quite a number of actual sheikah devices, including the Guardian's. One notable one is on lookout landing, which apparently many didn't notice. It's inactive, not because "Ganondorf would take over them", but likely because their uncovering changed their perception on their ancestors -- and instead of the developers directly stating this, they allowed us to explore the meanings a bit more. There's a lot of symbolism within this theory, too, and a lot of it is backed by the game itself (Unironically).
The question is if Nintendo will act on this, or will they simply set the games as their own timeline of events. I think it'll be killer to hear something like "Hylia is the Goddess of the underworld" or how "The power Zelda in BOTW & TOTK had was specifically the Triforce, and her blood is due to her descendants of Rauru & Sonia", rather than something akin to "Zelda is the reincarnation of a god" (As a cop out for any sort of actual plot point and relevance to any classic entry).

After a bit of some time, I was able to watch this finally.
There's a few compelling points you make, the problem, however, is that it lacks purpose and intent for certain scenarios. However, the bulk of this I fully stand by:
The Zonai predate the Sheikah, and the Sheikah's "symbol" is a somewhat of a copy of the Zonai.
The reasoning, however, is where I differ substantially. Consider how the Sheikah technology just "accidently" is corrupted by "Calamity Ganon", and how the Sheikah "Coincidently" forgot that they existed. Or how Hyrule, as a whole had to "research" to find out that they existed. Or, dare I throw in: The notion that they actually entirely destroy all Sheikah technology in the present of Hyrule in TOTK, to where only "new" Technology from Robbie & Purah exist, rather than the classic technology of the "ancient" Sheikah.
I propose that the Sheikah, the ancient Sheikah, worshipped Ganondorf as much as they worshipped the Zonai. The Ancient Sheikah, far before all Zelda games, were the servants of the Zonai, the ones who created the ruins and the various attributed man-made regions. It aligns almost perfectly with the interlopers; A Race of people who attempted to steal the Triforce before the Sacred Realm was sealed.
Additionally, we should talk about the Monster Maze video, along with the 6:46 image of the constellations & the pillar above Ganondorf. I believe even Monster Maze noted: It doesn't exist in the past. This was put there later. This wasn't put there by the Zonai, since the last two Zonai, that were alive, were Mineru & Rauru: Both of which were incapable of doing so (clearly).
This leaves only one specified race that is coincidently absent.
Why are the Sheikah absent? Because they're imprisoned in The Depths, otherwise known as: The Twilight Realm.
One note that Master Maze makes is that the pillar "sort of" resembles the same as the islands underneath; But I checked this out. Not only is every single shape substantially different than the one poised underneath Hyrule Castle: It clearly was built there, along with the castle intentionally, well after Rauru was sealed.
We notice the plaque that states the Castle was built in "that" location to protect the seal, and it's the "Secret of the Royal Family", but we entirely ignore that the castle, in the past, was directly located on the Great Plateau; Along with the Temple of Time. We acknowledge that the Temple of Time was subsequently lifteed in the air from the "past sages", however we disallow the understanding that the child of Rauru and Sonia would have been named "Rauru" (In their honor) and would then become the Light Sage of the next era, who would (then clearly) raised the Temple of Time into the Sacred Realm, and built another Temple of Time, next to Hyrule Castle (The remains we see clearly from OoT) next to it's new location.
We also acknowledge that the Sheikah technology was advanced technology, and clearly would have had some influence beyond it's perception. However, consider the Shrine of Resurrection and where the water came from. The wellspring below, is the source for what's above. The problem: What's above wouldn't have existed, as it's evident that these are created "After" the founding of Hyrule, not before.
      Ergo:
      1) The Sheikah were the Interlopers, told in the backstory of Twilight Princess.
      2) This Imprisoning War is the Imprisoning of the Demon King, told in the backstory of Skyward Sword (This game has enough messes that you'd have to wonder why people stan it)
      3) The Sheikah, originally interlopers, utilized their knowledge of the past, and Mineru's library and literary collection, to advance themselves and learn the magic of the Zonai, and harness their own forms of magic and clone the Zonai's; Coined "technology".
      4) The Sheikah assimilated into Hyrule post flooding after Wind Waker (Only timeline that'll work, explained in next comment), utilized the knowledge to settle in with the new rulers, and helped build a new castle -- Above the tomb of "The Demon King", whom they told a mythos about, this is the story of Skyward Sword (The mythos). "Hylia" is then born as a figure. (Explaining zero Hylia between these two era's, aka, every game before 2011).
      5) The Sheikah utilized their innovative technology, when helping build the castle, to syphon power from Rauru, and create a specified magic that, when activated, will collapse the floor (Creating a gateway to the twilight realm) and raise the castle.
      Juicy part:
      6) They utilized the mythos of "The Calamity", aka the "Hatred incarnate, evil malice from the curse of the demon king upon the blood of the goddess and spirit of the hero".
      7) They utilized the weakened form of the spell Rauru placed on Ganondorf, to create a monster out of Malice, which in turn gave the Sheikah the ability to "Be the heros".
      8) The King was suspicious, removed the Sheikah from their power and banished them; Knowing something was going on. (Explaining this piece).
      9) The later Sheikah, BOTW "100 years before", along with the Kingdom, went to uncover what happened -- as signs of the same exact instance was happening. This time, without Sheikah intervention.
      10) As the Sheikah assimilated, a thousand or so years later (The "10,000 years" was mythos), None knew of their past. And so they believed the machines would help them. The machines, the "Guardians" along with "Divine Beasts", were created specifically to overthrow the Hyrulean Family, and were designed to convince them that the Sheikah were not only to be trusted, but to be feared and provided power. These machines all turned on everyone, not because "Ganon was strong", but because they were machines created to be imbued with magic, magic upon which "Calamity Ganon" was made from.
      Finally:
      11) TOTK Present shows a current Hyrule, understanding that the past was entirely different than what they were told. Learning more about the Zonai, and the ancients, than ever.
      12) Sheikah technology was removed from everything because the technology is fueled by magic, magic of which the Hyruleans could not harness: But the Yiga, hilariously, could.
The Sheikah were always the interlopers. The difference is that people turn a blind eye to the hints in Ocarina of Time to Twilight Princess...because they started with Skyward Sword or BOTW.

Why TOTK could only fit into "Before every Zelda Game" for the past, and "After Wind Waker" in the present:
We need to acknowledge three attributes from Ocarina of Time:
      1) "Fallen Hero Timeline" Only can occur when there is no Hero present, thus Ganondorf obtains the full Triforce, without contest, and goes back to Hyrule to attempt to overthrow it. Ganondorf then is, by the 7 maidens, sealed into the Sacred Realm. The Sacred Realm then becomes corrupted by Ganondorf, as he utilizes the Triforce to turn it into a mirror world to Hyrule.
Notes: The Sacred Realm, before the corruption, was a collection of islands and spiritual structures that housed sacred artifacts of the God's, such as the Triforce. This is where the iconic "depiction" of it comes from; It was "Golden" in land, and flourishing. Tears of The Kingdom's "Sky" is the Sacred Realm, everything on these lands are considered "sacred" regions. Including the tori gates.
      2) The "Child Timeline" Only can occur with the Twilight Realm remaining sealed, Ganondorf Dragmire also willingly traveled to the Twilight Realm (From a portal that opened up for a brief period of time), and become the ruler of this realm. He stayed here, and ruled upon it. Additionally, the Sacred Realm was entirely secure. No breach had occurred. The Triforce is still in the Temple of Light.
      3) The "Adult" timeline Only can occur if the full Triforce had been taken and, after Wind Waker, controlled by the Hyrlean family. Namely, Zelda. Additionally, this timeline specifically occurs when Ganondorf is "Sealed" (not willingly going to) the Twilight Realm, where his focus was to "Return to Hyrule". In this scenario, Ganondorf would have created a breach from these two realms, and thus allowing the Interlopers a way to Hyrule.
We clearly see that the Sacred Realm is barely touched, but it isn't in the best condition. We can see the Temple of Light (The "Forgotten Temple") not only has fallen down to Earth, but was catastrophically destroyed. Additionally, we should take not of each Goddess statue added, and how they specifically are in the exact location as all of the Bargainer statues in the depths. We should note that these Goddess statues were added far later in the period of time, not before -- noting that Skyward Sword (yes, this game) legitimately couldn't happen in the same realm or universe: Thus, mythos. Specifically for propaganda; The Goddess statues were then added to each location, specifically, to aid the Sheikah's end goal: Overthrow the rule of Governance and become the rulers of Hyrule...for those versed in Twilight Princess, you may recognize that the concept isn't too farfetched, that was one of the attributes Zant wanted to accomplish.
We see The Depths, that doesn't look (At all) like Twilight Princess, determining that the "future scenario where Ganondorf ruled the Twilight Realm for hundreds of years" did not occur. We see the remains of the Twilight Realm, and areas that remained dormant after a thousand years.
      And then we should question:
How long is the timeline, actually? Is it 10,000 years ago? Or is it 2,000, with a large quantity of time between "The Sheikah coming to the surface" and "BOTW". With the less span of time being the death of King Rauru (Sealing of Ganondorf) and the land being terraformed back after the Great Sea? I know the attribute here is to "consider it in the real world", but it's a video game. The Great Sea could have only lasted a couple hundred years, with most of the entries after WW as something akin to beowulf; Folk Lore to be passed down after the threat was removed...for all of which to be lost in time, as peace had existed in Hyrule for that period, until the Sheikah magically surfaced.
Finally for a last note of evidence: The "last of their kind" Sheikah was always Impa from Ocarina of Time, and then much later "Impa" from Skyward Sword. Consider how nuanced this arbitration is. Is it possible that the Sheikah, in Ocarina of Time, are the appropriate sheikah -- and the mythos is the adjusted body. Wherein Impa from Ocarina of Time was apart of a family who served King Rauru & Queen Sonia, rather than a family who wanted to seize their powers?
We can proclaim the game occurred in the child timeline, but it's rather messy. The method people are going "now" in the theorists world is claiming that it's an "entirely new canon" because they don't want to accept or see entries, such as Skyward Sword, or the capcom handheld games, be considered less impactful to the overarching story...despite their entire existence, outside of skyward sword, was to be "not affiliated with the mainline games".
I don't agree with these. I view that Nintendo's Zelda developers had something important in mind. A lot of them worked on Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Breath of The Wild & Tears of The Kingdom, and a lot of them purposefully changed certain aspects of the game intentionally. I do believe that there was a direction considered in 2011 that was entirely then changed up during BOTW, and I do believe that the reception of BOTW changed the direction, in story, of the entries thereafter.
I don't believe that they are concerned with trying to become the same "gameplay" as classic entries, but I do believe they want to interconnect the stories.
Afterall. If you can sell 30 million copies of a single player game, fantastic. But if you can sell 30 million copies, that lead to an additional 10 - 20 million sales of older entries that otherwise are stagnant -- but now on the "digital" market on the platform (Or cloud subscription platform), that would be a bonus. Modern gameplay and design mechanics, with lore that requires you to dig deep into the classics is a money pit. And I see them considering this route even more now since TOTK.

13:37 - The problem with your theory is actually pretty easy: There's no reason for the Sheikah to have been banished, and their technology asked to be destroyed, if indeed they were working to "protect the kingdom". This was purposefully included in BOTW to setup the Yiga, but also clearly as contextual clues to distinguish the dark nature of the Sheikah...which explains, further, why their entire concept is devoid of reasoning. There was no "Sheikah tribe" in Ocarina of Time. it was simply Impa. there was no Sheikah tribe in Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess (Directly). In essence, people noticed the similarities between the Twilight and the Zonai; But what if we acknowledge that the similarities aren't specifically depicting the Zonai (Who we know do not have many similarities to the twilight), but the ancient Sheikah's who were the originally the twili?
Moreover, we also can note that the symbolism of music: Backward themes when hearing the depths in the trailers, or the Ganondorf introduction them when getting to the mummy Ganondorf at the start, etc; This "reverse" is quite symbolic when you factor in that the people who told everyone about Calamity Ganon were the Sheikah. And the Sheikah attributes on the spike seal; There's a lot of direct references in the design that determine that there is something sinister at play, and it isn't the zonai: It's the Sheikah.
Primarily, the sheikah of the past. The ones who created the technology that no longer exists, in it's direct form, in the present of TOTK. It's clear a lot of this was intentional.

Honestly I don’t think they cared about previous Zelda lore, they just wanted to make a game about the sky again and a boy and his hand, the zonai thing kinda throws it off for me they’re basically a redress of the sheikahs with all the tech that didn’t exist in any other Zelda title. Also the boss fight was fun to watch but no challenge at all while playing it. And ganondorf didn’t even know who link was 😂 so much for lore. It’s a reboot clearly and just focuses on the same silly shrines instead of immersive temples or palaces to explore 😂

    • @AshePBlack
      @AshePBlack 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nah it does relate to lore. Like in most fiction one eras humans are next eras gods. And maybe because of cycles ganondorf doesn't recognize link because they aren't all the same one. Like ganondorf demise Gannon use rule of demons. Hylia incarnates into next Zelda and is related to self and hero has spirit of hero so if anything is off or they don't recognize person, it's not like they can track souls or ancestry of link and if hero has spirit of hero, can't that one soul hop bodies. And yet the real first hero who's spirit it is also can't chill where goddesses go. Also if you play ss you'll notice they tell link how terrible he is and in later games they respect him despite fact it's always a diff link. So again why would ganondorf, the most mortal of the demon forms recognize link all the time. Also demise was over confident, you think he cares on all details of links life? Why should ganondorf, unless he'd use it for battle strategy but he never accounted for everything was the point

The ancient Shiekah must not have been that ancient. Only half ancient. The "ain't Shiekah". Bum bum buuummmmm.
Jokes aside, it is obvious the "ain't Shiekah" took heavy inspiration for everything from the Zonai. Of course the most obvious being the eye and tear symbol. But also, I believe the shrines themselves are modeled after the Zonai shrines, and their magical technology seems real similar to the Zonai magic tech. So we can be certain the Shiekah came after and were greatly inspired by the Zonai, taking motifs and tech into a newer age. But that's the problem. When would they have met? If the Zonai are all already gone, save for the 2, and we haven't seen a single Shiekah, when could they possibly have met? Were the Shiekah originally from wherever the Zonai left too? Or did the Zonai come back? Or DiD tHeY aCtUaLlY nEvEr LeAvE???
Edit: if draconofication was such a hugely important bit of history for the Zonai, so much so that they basically tattoo their faces to always remember this sacred act, then how come Rauru has no idea about it? I’m kinda new to the Zelda franchise but I was thinking in my own head canon that the Hyrule we find ourselves in is a alternate reality/dimension and doesn’t fall under the same timeline as the other games. We already know different realms exist so it’s not a stretch that it could be possible. The Zonai are more like inter-dimensional beings who can travel between them all and settled in this one, hence why we find artefacts and races from all timelines within this one. For all we know there could be more Zonai out there in other realms. Also I think the original Zonai weren’t good and enslaved the people forcing them to work the mines and fight in gladiator style combat in the ancient Colosseums. That is where the ancient barbarian armour comes from. Maybe Raru was Sympathetic with the early hylians and helped them lead a revolt which is why we don’t see other Zonai in this founding of Hyrule. Maybe the mines just ran dry for the Zonai’s needs and they just left? I don’t claim to know nearly enough about the legend of Zelda as other people but this kinda made sense to me as I was playing tears of the kingdom and trying to understand the history and setting.

That cannot be as we _know_ that the events of Breath of the Wild happened as a _direct_ result of future Zelda travelling to the times of New Hyrule's foundation to meet Rauru and Sonia and eventually fight Ganondorf leading to the creation of "Calamity Ganon" and the events of Breath of the Wild. The entire story of the Era of the Wild hinges on the idea of a "time loop" where the past, present and future had already been _predetermined_ and nothing that happens within the loop could ever *change* so that every event would happen. If Zelda's arrival to the past changed the timeline that means Calamity Ganon was NOT created by her involvement in the Imprisioning War which would be impossible given what we learn in the story.

That's the invisible Cloud Barrier which is hiding both the islands and the Light Dragon from view as Ganondorf's imprisonment has yet been broken and there's no reason for Link to see them yet.
