  • The paramount suspension upgrade for your XJ is a long arm system. Iron Rock Off Road's ROCK-LINK 3 link long arm system offers unrivaled performance, giving your Jeep both the capability and ride quality improvements that you have been looking for. This ROCK-LINK long arm upgrade is built for strength, clearance, adjustability, flexibility, and ease of install.
    STRENGTH: Our subframe is constructed with 1/4" steel and our lower arms are even thicker at 2"x5/16" wall D.O.M. tubing. That's thicker than 1/4" wall!
    CLEARANCE: We tuck our subframe up as tight as possible to gain you the critical extra clearance to keep your Jeep low and your belly high! The lower arm connections at the chassis are as high as possible with still being able to install a bolt through them. The control arms have an inboard bend to clear your tires, so you can steer lock to lock without rubbing on them.
    ADJUSTABILITY: All the arms have tons of adjustment built in for your stock situation to your stretched crawler.
    FLEXIBILITY: Yes, of course we are talking about articulation, and the ROCK-LINK delivers plenty! But we are also talking about flexibility to install other axle combinations with ease. Use this kit with your stock Dana 30 for now, and then bolt in a Dana 44 or Dana 60 down the road!
    EASE OF INSTALL: No welding, no complicated setup or templates. All you need is a drill, a floor jack, some jack stands and some hand tools. This is a BOLT-IN kit, although if your preferred method of installation is welding, you can do that!

    Great video-thanks. Just got mine all hooked up in about a day total. Only problem was that once everything was installed I needed to adjust the caster. I had torqued the flex joint on the upper arm before install and didn’t want to take it all down to re-do the length. I found that I could just remove the axle end bolt from the upper control arm and rotate the long section to adjust. It was tight and I did need to remove the pinch bolt so it would clear the frame as I spun it around. Good thing I had left all the nuts and bolts loose. I will torque everything tomorrow and be back on the road. Thanks guys. Detailed instructions are so helpful with everything I’ve bought from you.

    Just got done installing this kit took me a day and a half super easy to install measured everything twice and it all came out great ride from short arms is truly night and day drives great and better handling at least for me awesome product no complaints so far hardest messiest job was cutting the lower control arm brackets but all in all it's done

    This kit was really easy to install. The instructions are clear and easy to read. I've been running it since November and have no complaints so far.
    Hope to see the rear 4 link install soon as that's next on my jeep list.

      It's much smoother and more stable compared to my old JKS short arms. I don't feel like I need to slow down as much for long sweeping turns or big bumps

    How do i know when im done with this install that my lower and upper control arms are adjusted to the correct length?

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dylan, the couple things you need to be aware of with your adjustments are: is your alignment (specifically caster) adjusted to your desired setting?, and is the length set to match the combination of lift, tire size, and fender trimming, so as to minimize or eliminate tire rubbing?

    Do i need to remove the passenger side upper control arm bracket

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that bracket can stay, as it is eliminated from use, and does not interfere with anything in the Rock-Link system.

    I have a question... I had and xj with your older y link setup, now i have a zj. Could i buy a new cross member for the zj and put the y link arms from xj on it

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will bolt in, however with the Critical Path system, the XJ and ZJ had different length upper links to allow proper caster adjustment for each. The best way to do this would be to take the high pinion axle from the XJ and use that in the ZJ as well. And yes, the crossmember would be different as well.

    • @IronRockOffRoad

      @dansattler882 Thanks for the feedback! We have not seen any need to modify the exhaust if you are running 3 inches of lift or more. We would be happy to help you figure it out. Send us some pictures in an email to tech@ironrockoffroad.com.

    What is the difference between 4 link and 3 link?

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, this kit WILL work with frame stiffeners. In fact, Iron Rock stiffeners contain all the holes needed, to make installation a breeze. The 4 link is our rear suspension. This video is showing the front suspension (3 link)

Thanks

  • @TheBackpackingSailor
    @TheBackpackingSailor 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    should i install my frame stiffners before the lift or should it be done after?

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TheBackpackingSailor We always recommend doing the center section frame stiffeners before a long arm install because the transmission crossmember will need to be removed to install the stiffeners. When you finish the stiffeners, you can install the new long arm crossmember and it will save you some labor time.
      Check out our XJ build series. We started with an empty XJ shell, started with full frame stiffeners, then moved onto suspension.

  • @dylanreynolds4899

    When you torqued the carriage bolts holding the crossmember up how were you able yo get a torque wrench and socket up there im having trouble finding room and dont want to have to remove the exhaust

    • @IronRockOffRoad
      @IronRockOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you may need a swivel socket, however these are not critical in terms of hitting an exact torque. Our torque number should be followed whenever possible, but if you're unable to get access, find one you can get access to, and after you torque it, put a wrench on it to "feel" the torque, and use that same wrench to tighten the nut down the same.

  • @anthonyhorda
    @anthonyhorda 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dude installed one of these today on my 99 XJ. It was a bitch getting the cross membrane to line up with the Trans mount and then line up with the subframe outers. I had to kick the jack holding the t case towards the passenger side to notch the t case and trans over about a third of an inch to get everything to line up. It was scary...Also no idea how you’re suppose to Torque those lower control arms to spec Bc there’s no clearance to get a wrench and socket in there. Would love to see how you torque everything because it’s certainly a hell of a time.
