    FlySKY have released new firmware for the FS-ST8 which adds CRSF module support and more www.flysky-cn.com/st8-downloads

    This transmitter is so cool! If I started with RC now, probably, I might start with it.

    Very nice review Andrew. The radio has some very nice features that I hope others will copy ;-) It is a shame they didn't include support for the older protocol without an external module. Well done! See you in the Air!

    The telemetry's nice, but the Tx needs a voice. Eyes-down information is fine if you're driving a slow boat to China or operating a robot, but it's not great if your glider is a speck in the sky and taking your eyes off it for a second is going to mean losing it.
    An audible variometer would be good, too.
    Battery-timer status beeps are all that most pilots will need, and I suppose it's unfair to expect a budget radio to do everything, but I think that fitting telemetry to a Tx without a voice is more of a gimmick than a practical function.

    Nice review and overview. Just right form factor and good design style too.
    Worth noting this review is of the "Upgraded Edition", not the "Standard Edition" of the FlySKY FS-ST8. The "Standard" lacks the (optional) JR-bay add-on and the self-centering solder dials, and couple of other features.

    At 2:04 your specifications "flash card" lists 4096 resolution., I'm not exactly sure what that means, please explain.

    • @AerialWaviator
      @AerialWaviator 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "4096 resolution" refers to readable resolution of a stick position.
      It is just another way of stating 12-bit analog to digital converters are used to read stick movement.
      More than enough control resolution for most pilots.

    Hi, I'm really enjoying your channel. I'm just new to RC planes, only flying rtf models at the mo. Looking to get my first radio and like the look of this. Is it easy enough to program for a beginner or is there something you would recommend over the fs-st8?
    Thank you. 😊

    • @AndrewNewton

      This is OK but Radiomaster Boxer 4in1 is my top recommendation.

      @@AndrewNewton thanks for getting back to me. Really, would you recommend the Boxer as a first programmable radio, to an absolute novice? I think it looks like a great radio, but a bit complex for a noob. You think the Boxer will be OK as a first radio?
      Cheers 👍

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes definitely. The FlySKY ANT protocol is kind of a dead end, whereas the Boxer and Multiprotocol is future ready. A bit more to learn but will be much more useful if you stick with RC flight.

    Hi Andrew, I am glad I have found your channel, thank you for your videos. I have a ST8 (Upgrade) and am battling with setting switches to control my Dual Rate and Throttle Curve. On my i6X I use SwA to activate my alternate Throttle Curve and SwD to activate my alternate Dual Rate. They are activated independantly. Do you have a video that steps through how to set this up please?

    • @AndrewNewton

      No video yet but I'll add it to the list. Might be a week or two

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I see what the problem is. There are 3 flight modes or Conditions available and they control rates as well as throttle curve. Cant separate rates from throttle curve unfortunately.

    • @R974-z3x
      @R974-z3x ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndrewNewton thank you.
      I have updated firmware.
      I have SwD as C2 and SwA as C3. When I throw activate C3 it negates C2 and I lose my Dual Rate.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      C1 is the default rate and expo, which is adjustable (no switch), C2 and C3 are whatever switches you assign and you can set different rates and expo. Most likely use SWC for triple rates

    Is a "plank" just a wing shape that looks like a plank with no dihedral? Would the T-1 be a plank? Curious is all

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sort of. It's a flying wing with no sweep angle, just straight from tip to tip. The T1 has a tail so it's not a plank.

  • @theoztreecrasher2647

    A point you could elaborate on Andrew is that the manual for this Tx states that the Vcc outlet on the JR bay socket is not connected and to use an external module you must provide an external power source to it. The fact that the GPS info displayed is ephemeral is a downer too. Not much use in helping you find a downed plane unless you have your phone in the holder facing and recording the screen. 😜😉

    • @andrelange9877

    The only problem we Indian hobbyist are suffering from are we cannot buy it locally. either we need to import where the probability are 50% to get it in our hands without any customs. and many student hobbyist like me don't have enough money to afford it as it is very expensive for us. FS i6 does the job for us. but I'm still looking to own one of these if there are any possibilities of luck.

I really don't see a market for this radio. Better similar cost radios on the market.
