    I actually like that the border double edge shows! I think it looks pretty cool.

    I love your work and like others, you are very relaxed and calm as a teacher! Was wonderful for you to share your expertise with us...one comment, your cutting board is very busy in design and it's hard to concentrate on what you are doing with all the
    swirls in the background...food for thought...keep teaching your awesome knowledge!!! We appreciate it !!!!

      Thank you so much! I totally agree on my background being so busy. The good news is that the flip side is much less busy. :)

    I really enjoyed this episode the acorn turned out really cool.
    An easy way to bend thin metal is to use a thick book and place your metal between pages, leaving the edge sticking out where you want to bend it, and bend away. Also, a medium grit sandpaper or a metal file to round those corners a little.

    Nice work. You can use sandpaper or a fine file to take the edge off the corners - also, try taping the edges - you can fold it later.

    How thick is the copper you’re using and did you use a hammer to “tool” the copper or is it just pushed into the copper? I am wanting to make some decorative corners for a leather box I’ve made but can’t seem to find anything in the size I need, how flexible is the copper you are using is it easy to bend by hand or would you need pliers?

    • @ChrisKapono
      @ChrisKapono 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used 36-gauge copper sheets and it is thin enough that a hammer isn't needed. There are several gauges available so you should be able to find something suitable for your box corners. The 36 gauge is very flexible, no pliers needed. I use wooden and plastic tools to emboss into the metal.

    Would a stain glass grinder that makes the stain glass pieces smooth work on the copper pieces before you begin embossing them?

    • @ChrisKapono
      @ChrisKapono 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure but I know (now) that sanding the edges of the metal is an option. I'll have to research exactly what is recommended. This is why I love TH-cam, there are so many creative and experienced people here. I'm just a newbie playing around with different mediums. :)

    I am looking for larger gold/brass colored sheets to emboss by hand, and it's difficut to find, especially anything larger than A4. I found something on ebay from china, and I was wondering if you could tell, whether it's 0.2mm or what not, whether this could be used for hand embossing, as it depends on the metal in question :)
    On ebay, the product is : Brass Metal Sheet Foil Plate Strip 48-300mm Width
    Thank you kindly for your help

    • @ChrisKapono
      @ChrisKapono 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! I'm not sure, can you contact the seller and ask them? I did a search on ebay and the first two listings had a variety of thicknesses. Here is a link www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2512315.m570.l1313&_nkw=Brass+Metal+Sheet+Foil+Plate+Strip+48-300mm+Width&_sacat=0 Hope this helps!

      @@ChrisKapono Thank you! I did ask and they aren't sure. Pewter 0.3mm and brass 0.3 doesnt react the same way to embossing. I just tried a sample piece at 0.3mm and it's impossible to emboss the way you would a sheet of pewter aluminum :(

    Very Cool! These are SO beautiful. One recommendation I have for you is choosing a more subtle background for your workspace. My eyes have trouble focusing on what you are holding. The sharp contrast in the pattern is a bit jarring.

    • @mandarinmoonacreativejourn3089
      @mandarinmoonacreativejourn3089  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is exactly what someone else said as well! I can flip it over which will be a plain black grid pattern. Thank you so much for the feedback!
