Principled Uncertainty They don't take into account the sky high cost, side effects of the medications, making sure that your body can adapt to the medication and not have an allergic reaction, making sure your insurance covers the cost for medications and many other factors. Moral of the story is protect yourself, know your status get tested regularly.
What about everything else everybody gets? You don't see droves of people coming down on people with cancer or diabetes or heart disease. The stigmas are so disgusting.
It's not coming down on people. It's keeping young people aware that HIV prevention is still very important. I was a young straight female teen in the 80's when HIV/AIDS was all over the media. Safe sex was a huge topic at the time. It's not as much now. STDs are on the rise because of this. There need be no value judgments about peoples sexual behaviour but it does a dangerous disservice for people to not be told that HIV and its treatment can still lead to serious health consequences.
I relate in many ways. I was 19 when diagnosed and 35 now. Also just diagnosed with cancer. I wonder if I'll ever find a partner or if I'll just die alone. I battle severe depression.
In 1984 my first partner was the first AIDS case in Arizona. On my 21st birthday on December 1984 my western blot test came back positive. My doctor told me that I might have 1-2 years left. Telling a 21 year old man he only has 1-2 years left is a terrible thing to do. I am now 62. All of my friends died in the 1980’s. I was afraid to make new friends, as I believed they would die as well. But I am still here.
Your story is interesting, Steven. Just curious-and not judging-how many different bacterial STIs were you clinically treated for before your diagnosis?
The man is a looker when he was young. It's unfortunate that others like him have to face uphill battle against HIV. Strong-willed men like him are commendable though, to battle the disease and depression, and not giving up. He's a fighter. Wish the best for him & his spouse.
Calvin Loo yes he was definitely a looker! Sucks for me that all the hot guys seem to be gay. I’m amazed that this man is still alive knowing at least half the Studio 54 staff are dead from this awful disease. I heard the statistic that less than 1% of people from this era are still alive. Hope he stays strong for himself and his husband...
I don’t have hiv or aids but I have been watching alot of TH-cam and people’s stories. My life has been full of bumps been a single mum of two kids with two dad. This kind of video has given me the courage to get strong and snap out of my situation. I am looking into joining any organizations that assist people with aids hiv and cancer. I have been sad reading about hiv aids in the last couple of days. I keep thinking this could have been me . I pray one day there will be a cure and soon❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
I've lived with HIV for 31 years, I was diagnosed in 1987. I've also has a hip replacement due to Avascular necrosis . We long term survivors in the UK are being targeted by a government policy of "streamlining" welfare, so that we are "accessed every 18 months or so.After surviving 31 years I live in fear of being forced into a minimum wage job (thats supposing I get one which is doubtful) and becoming very ill again as a result. There doesn't seem to be any journalist or public person with the balls to stand up for us.
I am glad medication has helped you survive all those years but i am so glad that you are telling people to live careful and responsible life so as not to get it or contaminate other people despite the fact that there are good treatment. So many people want to live, no matter what the consequences for others and it is about time we support being responsible in what we do and how it affects us and others. That goes for everyone and in all fields.
Taking 13 pills a day for the rest of your life is no joke. Imagine if there was another depression or a war then you might not be a way to get meds. Imagine having your life in the hands of an insurance company. Not to mention the side effects
10 years ago when this was filmed the medications etc were much different. now you can take 1 pill with way less side effects as he had. he got it in the 80s so his experience wont be the same as people that catch it TODAY.
I can relate to this man's story so much. I was topless bartender in a men's bar when I was 24. Being top of your game in your 20's, having guys throw themselves at you, then get HIV, get older, and then you are invisible. Or even seen by other as ugly, which is in my case. Sad but true and that is just the reality.
Studio of Jay Jay HIV+ is not the end. I believe you can still live a fulfilling life like the couple featured in the video. Don't let it tear you down, the disease may have compromise your immune system, but don't let it rob your happiness. Some people may give up, but you are still here. Look at it the other way, you are a fighter. Quitting isn't you.
I'm the opposite of you jay Jay. I'm a straight guy with hiv... I'm completely invisible to any girls.. dating is not easy.. most assume your a closet gay or your lying because your not interested in them.. I am going to marry my surfboard this year 😅😅😅
Thanks for your video I'm a 56 year old black man and I've been diagnosed ever since 1982 on my 20th birthday and I just want to say I'm glad you're still alive I'm glad that you doing
Diagnosed in 1989 at age 24. It could have been as early as 1985 since I was in a monogamous relationship with my infecter at the time. Thanks for your story. I'm 53 now and still alive. Bless your soul, my brother.
JTG Travel guy thats good to hear. All i am praying for us is to have a cure for hiv aids. You make me guys feel stronger than ever knowing u r doing great

I know a 31 year old friend that just got married to none HIV, there is hope. The key, DON'T feel unworthy! Pray to God. Make sure you have the rest of the package to offer. Stay in shape, be good, financial stable, be positive. Women arevlooking for someone to make em happy and I'm sure you have it in you. The girl he found was at church. Your a great guy, things happen. He actually had a few girls willing to take him. You just have to be optimistic and trust God.
It's understandable he's been depressed but the fact that he made it this far and still looks good, has a significant other, why cry. It's been 30 yrs! Your still alive, your not deathly ill and someone cares about you!
If anyone in NYC needs someone to talk to or a friend, I am here! So much culture my city has and this is a big part of our history...so so so sad how many lives were lost, I speak to some older people and they'd tell me back in the day theyd have to pick which friend's funeral to attend really heartbreaking :( this was hard to watch. You never know what anyone is going through!
Medicine have come along since the first outbreak. even though it can repress the virus for a long time. the long term side effects of the medicine is something to worry about. i am glad Scott found true love to care for him Wish both the best

Linda smith Couple as in 2 people dedicating their lives to each other. Worldwide, most people with HIV are heterosexuals. Same sex marriage is permitted in many countries across the Globe.
this guy is awesome, theres alot of love in him and kindness i can tell :) if you see this man, hold in there you're doing an amazing job brother! as for the pills i'm no medical expert but there has to be some sort of natural treatment, atleast for some of these symptoms like high blood pressure. It would be great i'd imagine even just bumping a few of these pills down

What pills did he swallow, really 300 pills and expect to keep them down in his stomach without not long after vomiting some of those pills up. Would he have had some bone deterriation had he not contracted the HIV Virus or had treatment for that 'antiviral medications' in old age anyway in his life time? Would he had faulty bones as he got older anyway had he not contracted the HIV VIRUS? Anyhow, he is sick and there really is no cure for THE HIV Virus or not many people get access to real curative medicines, or bone marrow cures form HIV Cancer patients. It is said that one HIV PATIENT was cured after he received a bone marrow treatment because he had a cancer and required treatment for that. (Something to do with ' CCT cells ' found in some Causcasion people, has been reported/ holds the key to that one case cure.) Anyhow, Cancer treatment such as Cemoththreapy Medical Treatment for people with the HIV virus, its seems is not possible, as doesn't Cemothreapy treatment further reduces the Immune System and in HIV patients that infection/virus disease vigeriously attacks the Immune System. Taking Antiviral pills and Medicinesm for HIV is not a Cure for that Virus, THE MEDICINES only alliviate the symptoms of the HIV Virus however do not cure the Virus or get rid of that the HIV VIRUS. People whom spread that message are lieing, as they do to say that pregnant mothersmbabiesnarnt born with that, and that it is not spread orally or by having sex other than anally or vaginally. Why dont HIV patients, some of them have not only symptoms of Thrush in their mouths and Throats? When a person has flu, doesn't that affect the whole body, throat, mouth, nose, eyes, lungs, breathing , cause lagergthy meaning, tiredness in a persons body?
I have a friend who got hiv on his 28, 3 years ago. Will he have the same problems when older? I think there are some new drugs which are supposed to have less side effects but I don't know what will happen when he will be older..
10 years ago when this was filmed the medications etc were much different. now you can take 1 pill with way less side effects as he had. he got it in the 80s so his experience wont be the same as people that catch it TODAY.
Since AIDS has no cure,I humbly suggest an unorthodox remedy-the spirituality of Nichiren Buddhism, whose practice has been known to contribute to either cure or great improvement in some patients' conditions.Thanks.
At least he’s still alive ,medicated way of life but he’s Alive & looks fine .We all get worse with age but at l wet this man is still alive when his friends from the 80’s are not
I wish I understood how people act on lust. I can't imagine sharing my body with someone just for fun or out of infatuation. To me, it'd be easier to stand naked in a hospital hallway, than to open my nether region for someone casually. No matter how old I get, no matter who I find sexy, I just can't see my mind drawn to that. I guess I have some learned aversion to sexual intimacy. I feel lucky as heck. I've never wondered if I'm okay the following day.
Too many young people are taking risks because they think that you can just pop some pills and be OK. This is important info.

chauncy primm the stigma is bad, but HIV is very easy to prevent...with just condom usage.
hiv is very easy to prevent, stay away from drug and gay sex and anal sex.

Hiya Ryan. I'm not hiv positive but could use a friend still. Gimme a holler sometime
I feel great sorrow for this man. I wish him the very best in the rest of his life.
The most important message today. Yes you can live but living with HIV it’s a tough life. Our youth act like AIDS is over.
I resonate.I can never wish Hiv even to my enemies.
Because it is, it is disgusting. A disgusting disease that destroys your immune system and nobody freaking wants it.
Yeah i messed up and was able to go on PEP for one month....i hope i never forget what will happen if i do not stay in track...

cure is do what god says and stop being thots and whoremongers (man whores) and get married. god said marriage is honorable unto all a bed undefiled
Why, it's profitable....sickness is a money maker, so is the funeral service...
Abstinence from sexually immorality & irrresponsibility etc. 🙇🏽♀️🇦🇺 what u reap u sow!
Zolo Rodriguez not really. Marriage is not a guarantee of monogamy. Abstinence is not fool proof because you can also get HIV through the blood.
Well, we know how HIV got here....and with that lifestyle on the rise, you're begging for it to be a greater issue again...
taking meds or not were still to die, no things live forever, just go on, make life wonderful and happier !!

A gay Pastor..How cliche'
Oh, grow up ... Jesus was gay. (I know this is not directed at your comment ... just saying.)
Certainly not a Christian pastor.
It is unbelievable that he is still alive.
Why some people are so full of hate and bigotry towards gays especially when they put God in their statements? I really wonder why

Are the newer medications safer? Will someone having started with the newer medications have the same outcome???
This is very interesting. Most be shown to those most at risk. It is not easy even if you live past 10 years!
I am going to look for a longer documentary about this subject now!
And they're trying to glorify homosexuality. It's pathetic.
Hugely outdated...its important to take in to account modern advances
Keep the fire burning I tested positive when was 15 now am 31 am doing OK
At 15? What? How did you become infected? I would love to interview you.
OMG! Am 23 years old and positive. I believed everything will be ok until I saw this video. Now am scared
Don't worry . Just be healthy as you can be.. it's not as bad as what the comments are saying
Emii D don’t be scared my friend. Please drink very good probiotics. To help your gut. Vitaminas B12. Magnesio. Black seed oil. , every day.
I'm on new meds. They work great. Fear not.
His husband is a priest, WTF has the world come to?
Pastor not priest.
@@lazeintun178 you are right, gay priests are still in the closet.
Feel so sad he got this Hiv😪
God be with you
I wonder if these people that were diagnosed early on and are still around are long term non-progressors
At least he’s still alive ,medicated way of life but he’s Alive & looks fine .We all get worse with age but at l wet this man is still alive when his friends from the 80’s are not
Do they skip over the part in the bible that says homosexuality is an abomination?
it also says wearing mixed fabric is a sin
I am gonna be a virgin forever
This is sad. Can't he change his medication?
cq ho sentito ke hanno trovato un farmaco ke uccide questo virus, è vero
Where is he a Pastor?
A gay pastor ????
The person who is alive can live up to the years tell me sir
The pastor is gay? Is that a thing in America?
It shall be well.....
Why didn’t you keep your zipper up? Kind of your fault , sad, but true, I’m sorry you got it but so preventable

You have helped me
1.1 million people might someday be quarantined.
Mmm due to coronavirus
New drugs and treatment are coming...
David Tracey Amen, people on ARVs need to hold on for approximately 15 years, then we will have functional cures for all
I wish I understood how people act on lust.
Is he still alive?
This interview was so depressing....
hate to see gays holding hands
Then why r u looking???
Agghhh i just wish that freddie still alive
