I was amused by the critique of Jack bonking the fish! Especially the part about him being a “moron” (he’s not), and that his children will never learn to fish. We’ll have to tell Brandon he doesn’t know how to fish!! As the reply indicated, Jack is one of the good guys. He’s dedicated more time and talent to supporting our fisheries than anyone else I’ve known.
Opinions vary. I personally think fishing for salmon should be limited to the ocean as stocks of salmon continue to diminish. Fishing in rivers for salmon in rivers in decades past was OK when salmon were abundant.. Today fish stocks continue to deplete and killing a fish that has managed to find it's way back to spawning grounds is considered fucked up by serious anglers that want these incredible fish to survive. WTF?. At 27.30 the guy with the bat thinks he is being funny when he says "ouch". I claim ignorant possibly moron. . His attitude will prevent his kids from catching salmon in the future.
Edward Dergosits clearly you know nothing of NW fishing. That "guy with the club" is Jack Glass. One of this areas iconic fishing legends. He is also one of the most well know fish conservationists. Further, those salmon are hatchery fish, released as smolts to return to the rivers and be cought by anglers. Please do some research before comenting on something you know nothing about.
Edward- Ocean Commercial and recreational fishing is non discriminate in the fish stocks they catch. They have no way to determine where that fish originated from. They can be depleting fish from a run that is in peril. Example-The fisheries in Alaska and BC take a majority of the fish that are produced from the Hanford reach of the Columbia. If you really are serious about preserving runs, only allow in river fishing and without gill nets.

Can you imagine having someone telling you when to reel?
