I hope this spreads,to some of the youth in the water. Growing up Surfing HB Pier back in the 80s. If you didn't respect the older Surfer's in the water 1 you didn't get waves 2 you got you ass kicked. Even being a local kid. Show respect youth !!!!! Great tips on paddling.🤙
The best part for me was the respect in the water it feels like there no respect in the water anymore I’ve surfed for 35 years and it was so different in the water when I started and you listen to the experience guys another great vid 😊
Seen a few of your videos and I love this one. The best thing about this is your character and attitude! Learning to surf in the 80s I can tell you your spot on. And what could you do? You wouldn't tell anybody. Because then you definitely couldn't ever go back! But what that taught us really quickly was surf etiquette and more importantly RESPECT 🙏 After 40 yrs of surfing you just showed me something so obvious I don't know why I didn't see it before? I've always paddled with my hands cupped but when I saw you flatten your hand it was obvious how much more surface area is there! Definitely going to try paddling with a much flatter wider hand. Thanks and we all really appreciate your attitude, time, and respect 💯🤟🍻
Hey buddy I'm a brand new surfer at 47 I know late start but better late then never , live on the westcoast Florida where the waves are horrible but Im doin what I can.just wanted to thank you you for the tips
Nice tips! Do you also keep your head down when paddling around searching waves? I feel like some pros do arch a lot while others don’t (but seems they both keep the boards’ nose very close to water level).
Awesome vids! Going to keep my head low and do the extra two next sesh. Does kicking help with getting the board level with the wave? Is it detrimental to kick?
I’m interested in this too, I feel like it may help generate just a little more propulsion if you really need to speed up quick to get into a wave. Downsides are that it is more unstable as he talked about in the video and also maybe annoying to others in the lineup lol
Yes us 50+ year olds are movin a bit slow these days I remember back when there were rules out there and if you broke them you would have to answer for you actions or get delt with 😂 Lovin these videos Aloha from Maui 🤙
Hey bud ,is there a spot you can recommend a beginner working on getting up and down the line 45 year old new to surfing .gonna be in the area this summer 24
San Clemente Pier can be good. Not next to the pier but more in front of the clock tower. Also San-0 "old man's" if your on a bigger board....and also Oceanside has a lot of waves. South of the pier a little ways. Doheny can be good but can be very crowded and unsafe with a lot of beginners and big boards
you don't have time to sweep the arm along the bottom of the board when franticly paddling for a wave as shown in your vid. Feels very unnatural, but might help paddling back out I guess.
