  • After her apparent redemption on Korriban, Yuthura Ban returns to the Jedi Academy on Dantooine to give it a real chance. Her old master suggests that she could be a very wise Jedi due to her experiences with the dark side. This rings true. It's been said that to truly understand the force, you need the contrast to light.
    Again, shout out to tehPrincessJ. She made the original video of this: • Redeemed Yuthura On Da...

    "One who has fallen so far, and done so much evil, does not deserve redemption. In a way, such a turning from one's nature is cowardly, a betrayal of the self. Redemption is merely a form of spiritual collapse. A fall few recover from." -- Kreia

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +60

      Yes, she said that in association with Ajunta Pall. Do you agree with her completely? Because by that logic, Vader was even less deserving of redemption. Were dark side leanings truly Yuthura's nature? Based on her history, I would say it isn't. Like many she had the best of intentions but was consumed by the dark side and thus, in a way, lost control of her actions.

    • @nohero23
      @nohero23 7 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I believe that Kreia despises redemption as in moving from the depths of the dark sight to the high heavens of the light side. Replacing one extreme ideology for another. If you have fallen from the light, as Yuthura has, you must have seen something wrong with the Jedi code. And now that she has been redeemed, she must have seen something wrong with the dark side as well. And she has. There's a dialogue option with her, where she states that she fell because she fought slavery with violence. And that her goal was to end slavery, but the dark side of the force corrupted her into seeking more and more power. Now she seems obsessed with redemption, forgiveness and wastes away her goal by chasing after the Jedi ideal.

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Very good. You are correct. I believe as Kreia does, the Jedi are light side extremist who don't even realize that the light side controls them just like the dark side controls the sith. But Yuthura didn't only see a problem with the dark side. Within her transition back to the light, she saw a problem with the sith. Like she said: "The sith bring more misery than the slavers ever did." She even refers to your party members as slaves without batting an eye. But that was because of the dark side corruption. She could have returned to the light, but that doesn't mean returning to the institution that is the Jedi Order.

    • @nohero23
      @nohero23 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, of course, she hasn't yet officially rejoined the Jedi order as a padawan. But still, the sole fact that she returned to their enclave on Dantooine, meeting her old master again, and probably receiving training from them is a strong hint that she did. While she mentions that she needs "time for herself to figure stuff out", she's doing so with the guidance of the Jedi order. Let's just hope she meets and trains under Arren Kae.

    • @nohero23
      @nohero23 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What I also wish to say is: She has betrayed herself once by falling in with the Sith, and now runs danger of betraying herself again by seeking "redemption", peace of the conscience, by following the Jedi. She has failed herself, by seeing the force and the teaching of its wielders as a tool for self improvement rather than a tool to achieve her goals. Yuthura, go and become the slaver hunter you were meant to be, not the mindless tools those two doctrines want you to be.

    What i find interesting about this is that it seems Yuthura is welcomed back to the Jedi, and that her Master recognizes that her study of the Dark side would help in her understanding of the Force. I do wonder why in consideration of say Revan that they basically mind wiped you, perhaps the Jedi are more afraid of tackling the bigger and more destructive of those who fall merely out of fear of the consequences, i feel though it is more out of a sense of looking at beings that they deem irredeemable by conventional methods and thus resort to the extreme. What could they have learned from Revan if they had trusted him from the moment they captured him and listened? They viewed it as necessary and thats my main issue as I think what would they have done with Sidious, or Exar Kun or even Darth Caedus had they actually managed to capture and keep them in place, what future would they hold if not a prisoner, sorry i just focused on the mindwiping aspect of Revan and really question if it was the Jedi's only avenue or the easiest to take, seems when it comes to the difficult decisions just as Mace Windu's decision to kill Palpatine, that they succumb to their own impatience and fear in regards to how they treat defeated Sith.

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would say that someone like Sidious can be convinced by the Jedi. But even so, the Jedi often do things that make it seem like they don't have that much confidence in their teachings. Because if they think they're so right, then they should at least be open to convince people to how they see things. But instead they either kill them in battle, exile them, or mind wipe them it seems. They could have also been scared of Revan, in almost the same way they were scared of the Exile. They hate change, and those two change people. It's still odd isn't it? During KOTOR 1 the Jedi act as if they don't know you. They lie right to your face, including Bastilla.

      It’s about making wise choices for the Jedi, obviously yathura never fully accepted the dark side as did revan or sidious, and on top of that they were the biggest players of the power. One started a war, the other manipulated the prophetic savior. At this point, they would have to change from within, not be forced to by their enemy, the “Jedi” . Just my two cents. I love how the kotor games shed light on the Jedi and how they aren’t always in the right. The idea is balance in my opinion. Look at nature, some nurturing some cooperation and some destruction and manipulation all coexisting in its own harmony. Just how humans can constantly spew righteous and moral ethics but if they reflected with honesty on their own lives many of those preaching do actions purely for selfish reasons. It’s all very strange.

Both probably have parts of the answer she's looking for. But I'm guessing she died in the attack on the academy, so her question will go unanswered.

      @@Edax_Royeaux Pardon me for digging up a three year old post but I just had to reply. Both to the original and that last post you made.
      First of all, while Kriea has no small amount of wisdom, she is also ... bitter and cynical. That comes through here and poisons her judgment. In order to be redeemed, you must first fall. You must have first already betrayed your self. The redemption is the realization of that, and working to return to your self. This is especially true in Star Wars, as that's exactly what the central figure of the franchise, Anakin, goes through. Facing that betrayal of one's self is the most difficult thing a being can go through. It's why Anakin didn't do it for Ashoka, and almost didn't do it for Luke. Taking time to recover from that isn't at all like what Kreia describes here.
      As for the appearent binary, its not that Yuthura did believed the Jedi didn't have the answer, it's that she nurtured her hurt, grew it into hate. The Jedi wanted her to let go and she refused. She turned to the Sith not she believed they had the answer, but because they encouraged her. Embrace the pain, embrace the hate. All Revan does is get her to see the Sith aren't actually helping her. "I hadn't thought of it in years." The reason she returns to the Jedi is because she did it. She let go. She still wants to help slaves, and *maybe* the Jedi can help with that. But that's not why she returns. It's because she seeks the peace she always denied herself.

    I really think both the Jedi and the Sith are completely wrong. And it's not that the truth is some balance between them; it's that the truth lies in a different direction entirely. The Jedi eschew all emotion and attachment as evils, and the Sith equally discard everything but out of selfishness. The Jedi are right that we need to find peace even in loss, but trying to avoid any sense of loss by never forming attachments is just as bad. The reality is that attachments are part of what gives us purpose and hope. It is true that we cannot be so attached to something that we are unwilling to let it go at any cost; that's just a different kind of selfishness. But the kinds of deep relationships that we can have with others guide us towards real selflessness, where giving up something to make someone else happy brings us joy rather than pain. So we should form attachments, but we must find the courage and strength to endure the loss and be at peace in spite of it that eventually comes from them, rather than be driven to selfishness.

      She would have died in that scenario too. In KoTOR 2 we find the place in ruins. The Sith turn on each other no matter what.

      It's like Dragon's Dogma where if you side with the tenants over the landlord to keep their land, that land eventually collapses into the MacGuffin sinkhole and they die. Had you helped the landlord and evicted them, they would live.

    One question: Do you have to find the Map on Korriban first afther the one on Dantooine to trigger that? I tried it in my gameplay and Korriban was my second planet i visited and after that i ran promptly into the Leviathan

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd. The Leviathan should only show up before the last planet. So at most you can only find one other Star Map, other than the Dantooine one, before finding the one on Korriban. So making it your second planet should have been just fine. Which planet was your first?

      @@PapitoQinn Ok, that could explain it. I forgot, that i only had Manaan left. So this makes sense and i hoped to trigger Juhanis Sidequest with more Level because her Story is one of the hardest to trigger without cheats

      @@Anthyrion Keep talking to them. Before going to a new planet, go an one you've been to before and talk to them again. Keep doing that until they really are completely empty until a new Star Map is found.

    the jedi and the sith each have a flawed understanding of the force in my opinion. the precurser to the jedi order, the je'daii order, used the force as a whole, ashla and bogan, light and dark, in perfect balance. they understood that light cannot exist without darkness. thats the biggest mistake that sith and jedi make, they dont look at the force in its entirety. thats why revan was so powerful, he was able to go beyond the teachings of the sith and the jedi, as a result, his usage of the force was balanced, light and dark.

    She’s only able to join the light side because they hadn’t destroyed the planet yet, come to think of it she dies either way after the planet gets destroyed by the sith

    She have a trgaic backstory but When I go dark side in KOtOR 1, I decide to kill her, well she will do a poor master, and teh previous one was fully cappble of maintening his authority, + he recognise me as Darth Revan Dark Lord of the sith. So I immagine that maybe Korriban excation will be lasting a little bit longer. + I think that Revan was taxing the excation.
