I owned a Gen 1 Sequoia (sold at 265k miles) and currently own a Gen 2 sequoia (running great at 207k miles) and I love both of them. But I’ll never buy this generation if they don’t redesign the cargo area. I’ve never seen such a useless, impractical, waste of space in a large SUV as this. The fact Toyota approved this for production is mind blowing.

For $80,000+, I’d expect the third row to have the same quality leather as the first two rows, the middle row to slide, and a little more room in the trunk without having to slide the third row in. It’s on my list to check out in person, but at the price Yukon is #1 for me so far.
I am SO excited! I’ve been telling my husband who works for Toyota that they need to make a 1794 Sequoia. I can’t believe they did it. Thanks for reviewing it!
I miss the 5.7 v8. It May be a gas hog, but no twin turbo issues. I feel that way about all naturally aspirated cars. Bad mpg, but the engine will last forever with no forced induction.
My thoughts exactly. If Toyota would have just put the 10 speed tranny on the 5.7, we may have got close to 1/2 the MPG improvement without all the problems associated with this new generation. Tundra/Sequoia was great, but not anymore.
Great video with the exception of one area. You did not cover the engine much on this vehicle. My wife is looking for a full size SUV after having the Acadia for the last 5 years. Sequoia was first on her list. Until she found out from ME that it has the Iforce hybrid engine. Toyota needs to at least give an option for a V8 for this vehicle because she would be driving a 2025 right now if that option was available. Hybrid batteries are expensive and they break often. Regardless of the warranty.
@soonerjman I am aware of the gap in price, I took the Denali on a test drive recently, very smooth, lots of power and the interior is impressive. Love it.

That's the most irritating thing about this vehicle and the main reason I will never ever buy this Sequoia. It seems they are cheating their customers with that horrendous cargo area, just so horrible.
My aunts have a 24 capstone and I’ve been in it a lot more often lately and I gotta say, these are definitely better in person than they are on camera. Now ik isn’t the most spacious on the segment but just for the 2 of them and 4 on road trips it’s more than adequate. The TT V6 is hella quick especially when you floor and it just sounds aggressive from the inside. Only complaint I have about it, is the rear vented seats. Idk if it’s the one they have or in general but they don’t seem to work all that well, almost as if nothing is pumping out. Second thing, the ride is nice but over bumps, it does not soak them up very well considering it’s a 80 grand suv. Now for 25 almost 90. Hopefully they improved upon that. Other than that, I would say this one of the better options in the segment if having the most space doesn’t matter to you
I want the Toyota to do good so bad, but that Cargo area is trash someone needs to be fired over that alone. Also Let’s not forget we lost one of the best , most reliable V8s in history to a “hybrid” V6. The worst part is the gas mileage is comparable to a Chevy V8. It just doesn’t make sense. To buy this truck.
When is it coming out? Still not available to build out on Toyota website … I love everything about this but the cargo space … it is wildly awful … I was reading comments thinking how bad could it be .. pretty bad

Question, what make and model is best for Baby sets, the sets that small children have to raid in take up a lot of space when setting backwards, my son and daughter in-law have a 3year old and by December will have another child, most all auto and SUVs fall short in back set space, even those that call them full size, I think the only auto that will work is a minivan, any thought on this issue
People mix up the marketing here , it’s an SUV on the new global F platform . It’s the best of all worlds as a mixture of a Land Cruiser 300 series with a tiny bit of a longer frame than 300 series with the same power plant as a tundra max. To market it as a “full size” is bit of a stretch , as I consider this a true to form utility vehicle. You get diesel like torq numbers and V8 horse power. 22 mpg combined is amazing.
