  • You Can Still Bypass Microsoft Account on Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 24H2, but for how long, who knows. Microsoft are clamping down hard or Microsoft account bypass methods and are basically forcing you to use a Microsoft Account during the installation process.

The thing about using the Domain account method is that it never prompts you to log into a domain. It basically just lets you create a local account, and you're done.

I was curious about this so I just set up a Win11 VM in VirtualBox and tried setting up as work/school (domain) and it seemed trivially easy. I can't see a down side, unless it doesn't work with Win11 Home. I set the VM up as Win11 Pro. I didn't document what I did, but I think I just clicked past the email prompt and it asked "Who will be using this machine?" which set up a local administrator account.

@@cam_934 I just had a go to see if there was any way to use the domain option with Win11 Home and - yeah, you're right - it really didn't seem to work. I didn't try breaking out the command prompt because that's kinda what we were trying to avoid.
To me, this means that the Home version is becoming completely unusable.

@@dingokidneys Well, their folder icons suck. In Windows 7 and 10 the folders were vertical so you could see better what is inside. I have 5,000+ photos and with these new folders, it takes me at least 3 times longer to find the photo I want. I only see 1 photo, whereas before it was 2 or more. That was a lot easier than trying to remember the dates. These so-called upgrades from my point of view are "downgrades". They could have kept the Windows 7 "look" while beefing up security. They had a good an easy to navigate operating system and it's been gradually "downgraded" ever since in my opinion.

If people still cant understand/realise how much MS hates the fact that you want to own and control your hardware and software they never will...like other companies MS wants total control over what you do and how you do it on and offline, and they want to know every single thing that you do, every site you visit etc etc so if theyve overlooked anything they can then clamp down on it..this video is another perfect example of it !...just think, if they hadnt put in place so many restrictive practices on hardware, the uptake of 11 would be far far higher

  • @user-no9wi4vu3x

It’s about time American and/or European commissions start looking into these practices, and ban them.
Your officially buy a product of them, and then they push you into a corner, so that they can force you to accept a heap of shit you never asked for.
This starts smelling very fishy and is looking more and more like blackmailing. This is what gets me very angry. If it would be possible, I would never ever use any of their products again. Unfortunately, I professionally am bound to a bunch of tools that only run on windows, so there‘s no real alternative.
I don’t want their shit, I just „want“ their OS, and but only because other companies force me to use that. That being already bad enough, there’s no need to add injury to insult.

Bypassnro DOES work. What they did is make an additional check to see if you have internet connectivity and if it detects internet it ignores the bypass you enabled. So all you need to do is after doing bypassnro, unplug the internet or as soon as the OOBE comes back up release the IP before you continue and then the bypassnro will work. Lets remember.... bypassnro is a batch file included by MS on the official MS media. If they wanted to stop people using it, they would remove it. Also they did not add registry entries to prevent bypassnro working. Those entries are standard and part of the OOBE. I just did the leg work to figure out how to manually get up and running in case MS ever do remove their bypassnro that they chose to put in. That bypassnro was not already put in, that gets put in by the bypassnro.cmd file you ran... Type the following at that point type oobe\bypassnro.cmd and you will see the contents of the file. It adds that registry entry and reboots the system...

I just installed Windows 11 (23H2) on two HP laptops and was NOT asked to create a Microsoft account (maybe this is just available in Australia?). The problem for Microsoft is that their users have lost confidence in them. Windows 11 installs are now actually declining. If you are using MS in a business environment (small or large) the last thing you need is another thing to worry about i.e., privacy. Having been a windows user for 30 years, even I'm planning migrating to Linux - it the "rusted-ons" are leaving - MS have a problem.

The best way to use this method is actually to not be connected to the internet at all and add the registry entry at the very first setup screen (where you choose the region) - That way, when you get to the prompt to connect to the internet, you'll have an option called "I don't have internet" & then "continue with limited setup." Then you can create a local account instantly. - so yes, you can just release the IP at the first setup screen.

There are two choices; When logging into a new user account fo the first time or after an upgrade in some scenarios, that user may be presented with a screen or series of screens that prompts the user to choose privacy settings for their account. Enable this policy to prevent this experience from launching.
If this policy is enabled, the privacy experience will not launch for newly-created user accounts or for accounts that would have been prompted to choose their privacy settings after an upgrade.
If this policy is disabled or not configured, then the privacy experience may launch for newly-created user accounts or for accounts that should be prompted to choose their privacy settings after an upgrade.

  • @olexijl78

    Dear Brian,
For your information: you sound like release command would work even without bypassnro command. This is not necessarily the case. You still have to use bypassnro command, but after this you have to use the ipconfig's release command later on, as soon as you are at login of MS account again.
Plz set VMware and make the 1st snapshot while you are at the login to MS account (while you didn't make anything yet). The 2nd snapshot is when you are at MS account, (while done the bypassnro). Now you need just revert to the 1st one, and do the release command, it won't work further. Revert to the 2nd snapshot, and since bypassnro is already done you need to do the release command. That's it.
The method does work for 23H2/24H2.

The oobe\bypassnro will work just fine. You have to be disconnected from the internet to make it work. It goes like this , turn on the computer go through the region and keyboard region and the alt keyboard then use function shift f10 or shift f10 and type in oobe\bypassnro and hit enter. the computer will restart and go back through the region and keyboard region and then click on the i dont have internet and continue with limited setup and you have bypassed the window 11 login. Make sure you are NOT connect to the internet.

Even on Windows 10 LTSC, Microsoft will nag you about setting up a Microsoft account when you are joined to a local domain. Goes away if your company uses what used to be called Azure and other cloud services. I haven't seen this on 23h2 win 11 education yet, but it probably takes a month before they start nagging. MS killed a lot of good included tools, things like WDS and MDT no longer work with 11, I had to set up a FOG server to image my systems at work. It's good, but would have been nice to use the tools that I've been using for 15 years.

Ehhh, you say you don't understand why they try and force you to use a MS account? Well that's simple, this makes it even easier for them to track whatever you do on "your" computer. Remember some countries have quite strict laws against tracking, even the EU have made some moves, but the moment you log-in to a service they can track whatever they want as you then accept whatever terms of service is included. They can then use that data to show you adds (that's basically how Google and Facebook have been printing money for years) or they can use all the information they can grab to help train their AI-systems...

It is real simple wy MS is blocking to bypass a MS account: this is because the are going to force bitlocker disk encryption during setup. The only place where you can save your bitlocker key is in your MS account, you cannot store it on your device because you cannot access it during setup, and you also cannot print the key because you cannot setup a printer during Windows setup.
