Ive been listening to this band for so many years, and I’ve just now felt compelled to comment that this song is more relevant today as it was it was years ago. We all know that we can’t be complacent anymore. Who are we?
so lovely to hear! it's really one of their best songs, and i'm stoked to have documented this performance, as it's one of the best i've seen them do it
Possibly the most magnificent live performers i ever saw live... was introduced in 2007 in NYC by the man who was absolutely my soul mate--he took me to see them on 'a hunch'. We got to the Bowery Ballroom almost 3 hours early and stood exactly next to the stage before anyone else had even come in because my friend wanted photos too. I worked all night to get the perfect shot of Jessica Moss playing barefoot because she was the first other girl i'd ever seen do that (i played barefoot piano tho) :) The entire group put every ounce of their effort into what they do, and the composition/construction are always exquisitely intricate yet simple in the same way Bach can be... Saw them two more times in New Orleans, even as a broke college student, because i couldn't pass up the experience...
@@johnkayoss5422 It was some place in the bywater maybe? I can't quite remember but it was 2009 (Valentine's Day I think?), and we parked/walked from Frenchmen. I'm blanking on names but Tip's would've been a far better space :)
The whispered intro, that broken string, the acappella part at 6:03, the silence and the respect of the audience, the acappella outro, that "true" by Miss Jessica Moss at 11:54, the stomping by Efrim to keep the tempo, the "we want punks in the palace" string part, the whole cinematography. Best video on yt forever
Oh come on, wouldn't it be great to live in a world where you could just walk down the street and know that everyone around you had the same deep appreciation for art which you have yourself.
I don't know where to start bowing to this music and these lyrics and these musicians. This performance radiates far into the 1960s ans 1970s, where there was music and musicians who were free to say what needs to be said, so that we do not give up and have friends in spirit. All this is like a prayer and a request: let's help each other out of this nightmare with love ! Everything else only gives birth to new monsters.

These 7 shamans should have sung at the ridiculous stingy egoistic "climate conference" 2021 in Glasgow. What these musicians invoke is the beauty of nature and this planet. This is so much more than this pointless waiting for a solution. The solution still exists: some hearts are true. Finally do it you a*...holes. Do it at last ! Do it ! Do it !
Maybe if this is mixed post-record for upload I can imagine you're on the money. But I'm curious if they 'have a person' who's their choice for mixing thier live sound.

Almost ten years later since this was released. I'm still crying.
Brother,if you stop feeling this song deep within your soul- you know you are dead jx
I'm confused. Were almost up to 20 lol
This is the best Song ever and its best ever recording... i miss this band so much

That's one of the most beautiful things I've ever come across on TH-cam. I think I can honestly say that without exaggerating. My mind is blown

Agree. It’s incredible.
Efrim's voice is incredible in this.

that's a sweet story. i never introduced them to any of my ex's because none of them were worthy.
This is the song we need in the coronavirus.
Or an election, for what it is. ❤️

I think the "true" at 12:22 is also incredible. It's all amazing, I'm very impressed
I'd say the "true" at 12:45 is my favorite. The vocal fry gives it an extra oomph

How have I never heard this recording of my favorite song before? I’m only half into the first verse and I’m in tears
that is so lovely to hear! i concur, this performance blew me away when it was happening and it continues to when i listen to it.
I saw this song performed live in 2008. Just an amazing moment in time.
Just Stunning. I miss this band so bad...
Absolutely gobsmackingly stunning,
Man...those drums. They just keep building.
Best version by far. This song is amazing. Great job, thank you.

this is how a really passionate artist looks, no dance or excessive body expression, just pure interpretation

Some artists play with all their heart. Thankyou for capturing and uploading this

Who is their touring sound engineer? His work is so faithful. Would love to know more.

Great job, Kudos to you, but sadly your modernization will never encapsulate the feeling from the recording from Lees Palace.
Honestly this sounds worse than a dying boar.
I stand corrected, it sounds like a whole hoard of dying boars. Man, what an image.
