I would add that in the first step it's easy to break a tab that holds the plastic cover over to the door. I think you want to push in hard and see if you can pull the plastic cover back from the top (maybe with a second screwdriver).

Hi, the door handle is not working on my 2012 Acura MDX, should I open the panel the same way you did and check that the cable is properly connected to the door handle? Do you know anything about this?
