Its a good day when a Jonathan Sin video comes out
ahha glad that people are psyched about them!
amazing energy on this video 💪🏼
Mei is such a crusher and it’s so encouraging to listen to her mindset as a shorter climber.
thank you Jonathan for a great video with a great guest 👍🏼
glad you enjoyed the video!!
I LOVE MEI! I love that she is so confident about her place in the climbing world 'despite' not climbing as hard as others. She is totally right - we need setters like her setting in any grade. She brings a fresh style and a different perspective. Climbing isn't just one thing, one style, it's not all about being insanely strong. I want her to become an IFSC setter so bad!
i especially love the yellow boulder at the end. great climbing and routesetting!
It was sosoos cool
Awww, what a great video. Mei is super such a positive and strong woman. Wish her all the best in reaching her goals.
I will be in Japan in a few months. Can't wait to try out some gyms myself :)
Mei is awesome (hi Mei!), and I love her setting. As a lanky dude, and the difference in our shapes, I always found she set fantastic problems that usually challenged climbers equally. Even "scrunchy" boulders with high feet felt fun to me, which is often not the case. I think I can contribute any crimp strength I have (still needs work, haha) to pulling on her nails problems. Glad to see her carrying on with setting and getting the recognition she deserves! Whatever v-climber she is, she is still super strong! Fun video!
Nice to see Mei Nagasako in your video, I really enjoy her climbing and setting stuff.
yesss love mei!! ❤❤❤❤
she is pretty cool isn't she
Hi Jonathan !
Just came across your channel thanks to the video with Louis.
It's really interesting to have the insight of a route setter of that level and overall the video gives off such a nice vibe thanks to Mei's attitude (and yours too !)
Already watched a couple of your videos and look forward to discovering more of your content !
Greetings from Paris ✌🏼
Love Mei and always enjoyed her commentating in IFSC world cup!
It’s pretty amazing, especially when shares little insider nuggets
3:34 great question. Great answer.
🤩🤩
Never understood why people have complex about not climbing the same grade as PRO climber, or even why people critisize route setter that cant climb what they set up for PRO climber.
You can undertand how movement works and if it fits PRO climber with experience , you dont have to be as good, strong, flexible and so on to set for PRO climber
My take is that if a team of setters don't have that certain level of fitness, strength, etc is then the climbs won't be consistent or challenging enough. If you can't consistently climb a crux or test sequence for multiple problems then it could end up being undercooked or overcooked. This wouldn't make a good competition. However, the real challenge for pro climbers is the time pressure and how it affects the mental game
@@hyau23 yeah, but unless there's actual proof of that happening, the correlation of this to setters who climb at a lower grade than they set or the possibility it might just be less-than-stellar setters of any level in general is kinda up in the air. There are plenty of setters who set at a high level who don't climb at that high a level, and plenty of setters who climb at a high level who often set underwhelming climbs that are under/overcooked or just plain uninteresting. Of course the setting team need a certain level of fitness, but it's a very broad assumption that they would have to climb at a pro-level to set at a pro-level
You always have sick shorts, where do you get them from? Love these and the purple ones!
Haha some random sites onlineee
Cool content! Wishing for a better microphone audio quality though. Mei was sharing some wisdom and it was at times hard to hear what she was saying 😕
