  • We are called to suffer for Christ. In this small video, Torben is sharing about our call as believer. Our call is to do what is right and still suffer for it as if we have done something wrong. See this video. We hope it will encourage you, because suffering is something we are called to, but don't talk much about in the churches today. But we need to talk more about it, so we can see the purpose in it and rejoice in the suffering!

I think about it like this. A world class athlete suffers mightily through exercise, diet, hard practice, etc. We are called to be world class spiritual athletes of sorts. The gains achieved by extra effort far outweigh the inconveniences. Ignore the pain; it is temporary!

Fasting is suffering. The Bible calls us to "crucify the flesh with the lusts and the affections of it." Don't tell me that crucifixion is not suffering!
Fasting accomplishes this: water only for several days.
The flesh and the spirit are opposed, they can never meet: we have to choose.
Jesus expects his people to fast to "keep the body under."
Paul was "in fastings often," and tells us, "be followers of me as I am of Christ."

For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. - Philippians 1:29-30

Yes Yes Yes!!!!! Glory to God!!!!! This is the true gospel !!!! Jesus talked about it, he was very honest, his apostles talked a lot about suffering. We are to be like Jesus, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross (Hebrews 12: 2). He did not ask us to endure or do anything that He Himself did not do first. For we need patience, that after we have done the will of God, we may receive the promise (Hebrews 10:36). Patience involves suffering, staying underweight. Jesus commanded us to count if you really want to be his disciples (Luke 14: 27-33). He was always honest with us. Unfortunately we do not hear about it in churches. Thank God for Hearing this through you brother !!! And thank God that He promised that no suffering can separate us from His love that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8: 35-39) !!!! A hug and may God bless you today and always !!!

I think that there are good points made in this video, but it is worth stating explicitly that there isn't intrinsic value in suffering. It's suffering *for doing good* , and continuing to do good *in spite of* suffering, that has value. I think we aren't called just to suffer, but to suffer for doing good, and to keep doing good in spite of suffering.

    • @joahsprenger

dagman85 yes! But thats what he mentioned and explained in the video. But very true

    • @dagman85
      @dagman85 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Rebekah W - there are times where we suffer for doing things that don't require repentance, though - or where we are suffering in spite of not doing anything at all. In those cases, I would suggest that the suffering itself has no intrinsic value. Certainly God can make good things come of it, but He has no need of suffering to make good things happen, given what Jesus has already done for us.

Just by that talk you qualify as a true brother of the master. more than any other who have lost those who are in Christ making them believe that Christ is comfortable. Very few are those who have the guts today to mention this. Following Christ is the art of suffering for the one we follow. Following the right one will lead to suffering because he is not of this world. Blessed be Yahua

People slandering, or persecuting with words isnt what i would consider suffering. TH-cam video squabbling back and forth isnt Suffering. Suffering is being beaten and thrown in prison for preaching the gospel. I agree that we must suffer at times, and that we will have trials and such, but im sorry but most christians in europe and the u.s have no idea what suffering for the gospel is. I grew up in a missionary family, and we at times would live off of rice and eggs for months at a time, but i never felt i was suffering. I would get jumped by local kids at times for being a white preachers kid, and that wasnt suffering. I would get called derogatory names and mocked regularly, and that wasnt suffering. In fact none of those things even bothered me, nor do they bother me now. Of course some trials just have our name on them, but its usually because we need those trials to grow spiritually, and in character, we didnt listen to the lord when he warned us, or werent obedient when he instructed us. This is why intimacy with god is so important. There are many times that we suffer when we didnt have to. if we would humble ourselves, then the lord wont have to humble us. We will suffer, theres no doubt. We will be persecuted, no doubt. But if we dwell in the secret place of the most high, we will abide under the shadow of his wings. In his presence there is fullness of joy. When you abide in him, suffering is turned to joy and Thanksgiving. I love you guys at the last reformation, but i have never heard anyone from tlr emphasize the importance of intimacy with god. Worshipping him, adoring him, waiting upon the Lord, the secret place, or just sitting in his presence being with him, being loved by him, and loving him. This is the most important part of the christian walk. Even the men that healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out devils in his name, and preached the gospel that didnt take the time to get to know the lord intimately, were called workers of iniquity, and jesus said he never knew them. We need to behold our father. We need to rest in him. The highest evidence of faith is rest.We must rest in him through suffering, persecution, battle, trials and tribulations. We should be ecstatic when we suffer. Trials are designed to draw us closer to the father. I love to sit in the presence of god for hours on end, adoring him, and receiving his love. We are highly favored and beloved. God bless

Bruce you are a "man after my own heart!" That is exactly what we all need. Intimacy with God. Loving on Him and just being with Him (not just asking for things or interceding - as important as it is, to have times like that,)..I try to tell my Christian friends that it is more important to be united in this way with Him than to do the works He did.
The first commandment is ALWAYS the FIRST commandment..it is always the highest priority.
We are so weak and helpless, but when we abide in Him we are strong with His strength.
I would rather be in His Presence than do anything else in this world: to draw near to Him and worship in my little dwelling place.
I have been in ministry, teaching, preaching, casting out demons, baptizing and healing the sick: but all of these are what HE does through us; the only thing I can offer Him is me. Everything else is HIS gifts working through me.
I am so glad to read your post, it comforted me to know that there are others out there who love Him too.
PS: I agree about the persecution. I too have been abused verbally for following Jesus and even thrown out of my family for it, sent overseas: none of that was persecution (just sorrow.) I am fine now though, but they aren't yet saved!
I have often thought that true persecution is when you are physically beaten for the Name of Christ and the Gospel and that what we call persecution in the west is nothing. I do not want it - the way I am now, it would only take a couple of blows to likely kill me. But "All those who live godly (like Jesus did) shall suffer persecution."
Thanks for making my day with your post brother. Every word you said is golden.
I do not give you the credit (please understand) but I do believe it is a result of your having spent much time just loving on Jesus and letting Him love on you.
Isn't that why He made us after all?
      I believe that is so.

The Last Reformation true fellowship with our father is in the spirit, just as true worship is in spirit and in truth. Deep revelation, and the greater things jesus spoke of come from this place of intimacy in the spirit, with God. John the revelator speaks of this place. " I was in the spirit on the lords day, and i heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, " i am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last," and "what you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in asia. He was "in the spirit" it doesn't say i was praying in toungues, or reading scripture, it says "i was in the spirit on the lords day". This type of fellowship with jesus, is supposed to be normal, just as you speak about healing and casting out devils as normal, because it is normal. There are many levels of truth. It is true that we must preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out devils, and raise the dead, but its even more true that we are to love the lord, and seek his face. The deeper things of god were normal for the early church. In fact, the truth that gentiles had been grafted in, because of the cross, and blood shed by jesus , was given to peter in a "trance"! Trances were very normal in the early church and should be now. When we fully submit to the spirit of god and become possessed by him, very strange and powerful things happen. True intercession is in the spirit also. We must enter into the realm of the spirit, fully immersed in the presence of god, and yeild to him. In that place we can have face to face, heart to heart fellowship with our gracious heavenly father, beholding him and reflecting his glory into the world around us. It is our destiny to reflect his glory in the earth, but it is impossible to do this without deep intimacy. We wont just wake up one day, reflecting his glory because we healed enough sick people, or cast out just enough devils. It comes from abiding in him, seeking his face and beholding him. God bless

You always have to remember: it is no sufference nor a test once you understand why it happens, but ineffable joy because: all experiences are to be a witness of God, to be a testimony of God and His Ineffability, Almightiness, His Goodness, His Love, to Godify us and to show us how darkness operates and how to combat and eliminate it, by the Light, by The Truth, By God (Godly Methods, Commands in God's Name (John 14:12-14, 15:5-11, 16:24-33)
    1 Cor 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
    James 1:12
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Prayer, Fasting, His Word, the Fruits of God's Work and Word shown and proved in all things and people and also through us etc) and how darkness is nothing next to Him (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28), all beginning in Him (by surrendering to Him, asking Him to come to you, replace you, He be you, He be. And so He will renew You and elevate you to your new, spotless, Heavenly, ineffable in the end nature: Romans 8 + Ephesians 2 + 1 Cor 6. 0 of you all of Him - based on John 3:30 -, so that no sin, no death, no works and the remnants of these works of sin, death and satan and their forces won't be in you, along with doorways for them to enter in you (as they attach to you spiritually, or abide in you if you still have sin/sin in your life in some way sin, get rid of it so that none may be coming from inside you, for all in God is possible and they are sin -based, at least on one, thoughts, feelings emotions, actions, Pavlov''s dog type of conditioning (by stimulating the good and pleasure centers from those in the spirit to those in the body to release good and pleasure when sin is introduced so that they will program us to think sin is good, ) but can be exposed by taking them to the Word of God, and if identifying at least a mistake compared to the Word of God, is of them, for God cannot contradict Himself (2 Tim 2:13), all induced by them trying to pose as your inner voice or your ration, and you can expose them by the Word of God and What God revealed to you and confirmed you in many ways by His Holy Spirit and Holy Scripture and many other methods of His, just take it to Him in prayer or ask Him, and as you will get closer to God, they will try to pull you back by these things or will try to induce their pain or to stop you from doing something Good or Follow God''S Will, to make you sin and for the to be still in you. But always remember rationally: I am advancing in God, so I cannot be tired or feeling bad, but the best because I am headed on the Right Track With God, so it is not me who suffers but the demons, and is not me who wants these sinful things, but the demons because I do not want to make God angry or regress or be stuck in satan's reach, but the demons want this, so you will have exposed them and will try to employ these tactics, so go fully in God's Direction to eliminate them and for God in God and for God to triumph you, and you alongside Him - 1 Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me + James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin) and only for God to be in You, working in this phase of the Life ( and not only this), alongside God and also based on God's Example Here on Earth ( He was an Example for us to follow so that we shall get by Him and by His example in Heaven, to enjoy a similar level of exaltation and of God's Love and benefits of being with God, for He is the New Man, The First among Them, The Sinless Man, Having exalted man to Godhood and God incoporate man in Him without losing His Godness, The God-Man - Romans 8:29 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. - being our new nature to which all we must upgrade to and by what I wrote before, because if God would have done things the way He always does, that way which none can imitate or come to, the one above all, because He is above all, no one could have imitated Him or save themselves through and by His example in Him, for we are not God to be able to do things like Him), because since now God is all and you are 0 God works in you and by you, and you alongside Him, all being possible and easy for Him (Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
    Matthew 7:7-12
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
    Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
    1 Cor 2:10 + 16
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
    Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
    1 Peter 5:7
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
, culminating in the Happiest road that man can ever walk, the road of Eternal Life, The Road of God, that of The Cross, by which God saved us all, forever - HOW MUCH JOY, no one can comprehend, yet, except Him, which we will do at a smaller scale, in a similar manner to achieve our subjective redemption, to fulfill the purpose of this phase of life and to bear fully in this phase of life the fruit made possible by the gift given by God in universal redemption through Grace, multiplied and made alive by Certainty and Works (for it is much more than faith it is Certainty, the Reality, The Truth and The Best, and it is even more than Certainty), for without them remains inactive, is dead (James 2), God making using us and our Testimony, our The Wonder of our testimony not only to redeem us and to accomplish the purposes given to us, but to redeem others and fulfill the purposes in them through us as well, and we alongside Him, because we Testify of His Ineffability Almightiness, Love, Power, and how darkness is nothing next to Him and how easy is to be with Him (as proved before), thus pulling people in Him also by us forever and irrevocable, and other people through those saved as well also in this manner, and so on, saving countless. So it is only Joy.
    Also always remember:
    Luke 21:12-19
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
    Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    Rev 2:10-11
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel's sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.
      Mark 10:29‭-‬30 NASB

I don't quite feel God wants us to suffer. We suffer in the process of redemption we are attacked by devils when we are awake and demons while we sleep

I would love to see a video on the role of single women in the church, what all is righteous and unrighteous. I feel you'd give a excellent teaching on it, how do you feel about women coving their heads while praying and prophesying? I have been and now feel attached to it and at first I was feeling blah about it lol lol Thank you for all you all do for God's people, be mightily blessed in our Lord forever Amen.

When professing Christians say that sickness is a part of suffering and that when you have sickness it means you are being humbled by God...this is a deception right? Or worse God is glorifying you through your sickness etc?
I just do not see anywhere in the Bible where God/Jesus makes someone sick and says it's to glorify the Kingdom of Heaven. I know there are a couple of stories in the Old Testament where people become very sick due to defying God etc though.
I am experiencing suffering in the form of friends and family totally rejecting me as well as being somewhat abusive towards me. Also experiencing alienation, false accusation lies etc from family members too ( I am totally ok with this) I love my family its just clear I can't have them in my life :)
I have had some very interesting experiences Holy Spirit/Godly experiences when it comes to my family and other people I have had no choice but to sever all contact with.

fancy kittens thats why we need the Holy Spirit. It is not our own courage we need to rely on, but on the Spirit!
‘And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.’
      ‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:31‬ ‭
