    I love this kit. Using mine as live kit for small clubs. It works so well, sounds great and is so easy to transport. I also use the Tama classic hardware which is extra light and so all together it is super easy to transport and I only have to walk twice to transport everything from the car to the stage :-)

  • @torerikulvestad856
    @torerikulvestad856 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The kit works grate! With some ec2's on top and the toms tuned all the way down they "lie" pretty good and sound bigger then they are. Not a fan of the combo floortom so i removed the strainer. The floortom also comes with a snareside resonant head due to the snares. I don't use the snare that comes with, but will work in a pinch. I would like seeing a bag.. maybe backpack style for kick and toms..

  • @brajkraft
    @brajkraft 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I own this kit and it's just the best for anyone digging the bebop sound however I will have to say that the floor tom is endlessly infuriating to me. I have been tuning that little bastard for over 3 hours, tried 3 different drumhead combination and I still can not find a way to make it sound good in both settings. Either it sounds like a good Tom or a punchy snare but never both. So don't go into this thinking you can switch to the snare sound mid playing like I did. Plus the clutch on the Tom rattles when it's down. I'm considering just removing it.

    • @williamperri3437
      @williamperri3437 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably why I haven't really heard it sound good as a snare except for a few times. At least one video when he switched 2 the snare drum you could tell the snares were too loose and it just didn't sound good. I'm a Yamaha guy for sure but this time I may consider the Tama Metro Jam... I do love that blue though but hate the natural hoop color.

    I do love the video format. Keep this kind of reviews on you channel.
    However, the drum kit itself still a bit too unique sounding. It seems like they're not light weight replacement but an extension of colours as you've mentioned.
    IMO, Sonor AQX Jungle, on last video, has more potential to be a large kit replacement.
    Keep up a good work. Really looking forward for more drums/cymbals/gears reviews in the future.

    Would you recommend this for a first-time buyer of a drum kit?

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you want to do. This kit is pretty special and not very versatile. If you want a smaller kit that's still versatile I'd rather go with the Stage Custom Bop Kit for example. This one here is a great kit for sure but if you're getting your first kit I would go for something with more regular sizes and regular sounds. But still it depends on what music you want to make and what sounds you're looking for. Hope that helped.

  • @rennieplacide3162
    @rennieplacide3162 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of main reasons for purchasing this model is the first tom natural sound, and the floor tom. Question can the floor tom be mounted and what rack mount can you recommend ?

    Dare I say, most working drummers would dial in a much lower tuning on this kit.

    • @Merlincat007
      @Merlincat007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I'd push those tiny toms as low as they'd go with some tone. I feel like Yamaha should have gone 14" on the floor tom/snare though, especially since it's harder to tune as low with a snare side head on the bottom of a drum

    • @christopherjobe2260
      @christopherjobe2260 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inability to get a usable “good” tom sound due to the novelty sizes is the only reason I don’t own this kit. A 14x12 on the snom and 10x7 rack would make this sooo much more useful.

    • @sydsM3
      @sydsM3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopherjobe2260 I completely agree with you. I heard this kit and played this kit and was not impressed at all by the floor Tom. The rack Tom was decent but a deeper 7” shell would have done it more justice. Bass drum is a bit to thin sounding for my taste as well.

  • @williamperri3437

    Bass drum as a snare was horrible with how loose the snares were. Obviously in a musical setting you wouldn't hear all that rattling but my God I don't typically judge this harshly but it sounded bad. On the flip side the snare drum sounded amazing!
