hello angle is spray silver and hydrochome spray any diffrence in opticle performence ? and is hydrochrom good as for front surface mirror ? and use for opticle instruments?
Hi, those are great questions. For the best optical quality on a front surface mirror we definitely recommend a spraying silver chemical formula. The term Hydrochrome is oftern referring to a specific company. We have an information page in our knowledge base of our website that talks about mirroring for scientific instruments.
@@AngelGildingcom yes . but silver coating does not last long its tarnish quiackly . and chrome last longer. want know which give more reflection and durability?
@@abhayprasad6372 chrome in this sense is actually silver with a tinted top coat. It is called chrome becuase it is seen as an alternative to electroplating chrome but in reality it is still silver. Silver will tarnish if it is not protected by a tinted top coat. Our line of products for this is Angel Chrome and you can see them on our website.
Is it possible to only resilver something like edges where the silver is peeling? I jave a roughly 3x3 mirror with 2-3inch edge peeling. Is the process necessary for the whole mirror?
That is a great question. Unfortunately we have not found there to be a great way to do that. If the silver is peeling then it would likely peel further when you try to patch the areas. The best result will be achieved by re-silvering the full piece.
@@AngelGildingcom follow up questions, in this instance would your recommendation be spray for the size and can the spray be done on the backside like for pouring?
@@law_wren That size could work with either Pouring or spray, although the spray may be easier with the size. Please email us with any other specific questions you may have. thanks!
Hi, its important to note that the chemicals are not just silver nitrate. However, you will need 15 mL of each of the pouring solutions per square foot for adequate coverage.
That's a great idea! We do not have any telescope mirrors, but if we had access to one we would certainly be open to filming that process, including the use of Angel Guard. Thanks!

How do you work out how much silver nitrate per sq ft of glass so the solution doesn’t become depleted of silver

It would be nice to have a professional video on telescope mirror coating using the spray process.
