    I knew Elvis from '71-'74. I was 10, when I met him and 13 the last time I saw him.
    He owned a country club with horses to rent, a pool and clubhouse. My parents bought memberships and my brother worked there, breaking horses for Elvis.
    When I met him, he would ride with us, around the ranch. People say that he called is "The Circle G Ranch" and, although I've seen a sign that said that, whenever I heard him call it anything, he called it "The Ponderosa".
    Let me explain a little more. We kids had NO IDEA who he was. He called himself E, to us and we would just ride around the ranch and play cowboys. We would ride down to the lake and fish, but he didn't go fishing with us.
    I don't think he was really WANTING to hang out with a bunch of kids but, he did it because we had no idea who he was, and he could just be himself.

    What I learned of Elvis twenty years after his passing was his deep seated manners and respect to older people.
    He always addressed older people as Sir and Mam so sincere.
    Lisa had his qualities.

    • @LadyCapricorn8
      @LadyCapricorn8 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He may have been too mannerly for his own good. I know he was taught this from a very early age and was deeply ingrained in him. Once he hit Hollywood, those deep manners may have hurt his career. He was too nice to Parker, Elvis wanted to be taken seriously as an actor, and no one really gave him those opportunities to develop into what he desired. He should have broken his contracts regarding the films he was forced to make. All of that led to unhappiness and frustration on his part. I wish things had turned out differently for him. To many..he was a money making machine, and he knew it.

    • @theapavlou3030
      @theapavlou3030 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@LadyCapricorn8he also had no business savvy and was surrounded by uneducated hicks, which he wanted around him. Elvis used to sign contracts without reading them. Yes he should've fought it in court and he could afford lawyers to divorce Priscilla but he didn't actively do anything about his professional career. His manners and respect played a part in cowering to the fake colonel but he was his own boss and failed to stand up for himself. He could've easily got Jerry Schilling to manage him or go on tour without the old boy. He already had a tour manager in Joe Esposito, he didn't dare leave Parker's side because he had thought him a father figure while his own father was inept at all of the things he too was unable to do and he lacked a spine to do it.
      Imagine how much more he could've achieved. He absolutely did not fulfill his potential professionally nor internationally. He could've sold out Wembley stadium for a whole year in London alone.
      Tragic, but Elvis made mistakes sticking with parker. He could've been rid of him anytime he liked. He chose to stay unfortunately.
      We still love him ❤

      Elvis was a womanizer and abusive towards women. Why don't you also lookup how Elvis treated the Beatles.

    • @christophertyler6863
      @christophertyler6863 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TingTingalingy Point #1: I'm glad you wrote so that we can set the record straight, while I find it interesting, too, that you're making this 'out of context' remark on Michael Franzese's channel, which is all about redemption and what a person does with their whole life, not only a chapter or two. Point #2: Nothing you said in anyway takes away from my comment that Elvis Presley probably brought more joy to this world than anyone save Jesus Christ. Point #3: Let ye without sin, cast the first stone.
      So tell us, in detail please, how you've lived a perfect life and then, following that, tell us with GREAT SPECIFICITY how you've impacted the world in a more positive way than the beloved, Elvis. Point #4: No one hold their breath because that will not be forthcoming from Bosmer.
      Also, if you have followed the life of Elvis Presley or know anything about him, it is often reported more times than one can count, how unlike with almost any other star, reporters can hardly find anyone who ever speaks negatively of Elvis. And, even the women, some of whom have spoken about Elvis having a temper and perhaps throwing a box of ice cream across the room or shooting his gun at a TV in a fit of rage, or perhaps even a bit worse, have ALL said that it was due to the unprecedented strain on him and the drugs he was given by his doctor to keep up with a schedule no one should have ever been put through. While as a writer who covered the life of Elvis for decades, I also know that all of these women love him immensely and would take great umbrage with your characterization, so you should be ashamed. Moreover, these are also only stories told from ONE point of view, and not Elvis', thus making your point about him being abusive total hearsay, otherwise known as BS.
      When, too, there's also no doubt that Elvis was far better with women than yourself, but there's also evidence too, in various books about Priscilla, that she may have cheated on Elvis first with a local Memphis, TN dance instructor. So, again, who really knows what the truth is while other than Priscilla, Elvis was never married again and was therefore able to do what he wanted.
      As to the Beatles, when they first came to America to appear on Ed Sullivan, Elvis was gracious enough to send them a 'good luck' note even though they were making the kind of music he wanted to, but he was nonetheless stuck in the movie contracts at that time. Then, two, as it was their dream to meet their idol, and there are all kinds of different stories about the night Elvis hosted the Beatles at his home, the one thing that can not be denied by anyone was that he was very much a most gracious host.
      Which leaves us with the only other erroneous story you are talking about in which you don't know all the details. As it can only be assumed, given your lack of specificity, that you are speaking of the note Elvis wrote to Nixon to get what was then a DEA badge, and a letter in which he spoke negatively of them being a negative influence because of pot smoking, etc. However, as we know, Elvis Presley was a very shrewd and intelligent person and knew how to get anything he wanted, purposely adding the line about the Beatles, though he admired them, because he knew it would most likely get Nixon's attention, and obviously it did.
      While Jerry Schilling who is perhaps the most honest man I have ever met, and was also Elvis' best friend, and there with him that day.... He has often told the story of how Elvis did that on purpose, simply to get the badge cited, but loved the Beatles as he would often personally say, not only in private, but also on stage when he sang their songs such as Yesterday or Something. When at no time, as Ringo says, as he has no idea what he is talking about, did Elvis ever do anything to try and have the Beatles removed from the United States, etc. While that seems a rather silly assertion inasmuch as he would so often go on stage and say he loved them. And I love the Beatles, too, as they like Elvis brought the world a lot of happiness, too, but unlike you, I'm not going to go and write a bunch of salacious, one sided rumors about people like John Lennon et al, who are not here to defend themselves!!! It's called having class.

      @christophertyler6863 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TingTingalingy You didn't bother reading the rest inasmuch as I brought the proper context to each of your libelous comments, and totally unspecific comments you made about the dead, & you lost the argument. Moreover, it is precisely people like yourself, not reading and only making comments based on half truths and rumors that is the problem.
      However, as I did say 'let ye without sin cast the first stone' it is rather interesting, and tells us much about your psychologically, that you thought you should somehow speak of yourself in such a positive way. Besmirching another while hiding behind a fake screen name is cowardly, also.
      While perhaps, too, as you have no sense of class and respect, you probably think it would be appropriate to speak negatively of Lisa Marie at this time, too - but won't - as your distain for Elvis, and love of the Beatles, has been checked.
      While if you don't know that the consensus view on Elvis is that of the kindest, sweetest and most generous men - as he was a great humanitarian - then you've missed the boat on him altogether.

    I've told this story a bunch of times but..... My Uncle Steve(who lived in Memphis) used to date a girl named Patsy that worked at Graceland. We were up there visiting one Summer and Patsy asked if we'd like a private tour of Graceland? My Grandmother accepted and off we went (Patsy, my grandmother, my good friend, and myself) to Graceland. We went all over the yard and through the garage (and yes, there was a huge Pink Cadillac). We went in through the kitchen, and when we walked into the TV Room, there was Elvis in a white bath robe sitting on the couch watching football games on four TVs. ABSOLUTE NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD! Hung out with us and shot the shit for about a half hour. Took pictures with us and autographed an 8x10 for grandma, and two 5x7s for my friend and I. This was at the end of July of 1977. Three weeks later he was dead. I remember Patsy called us back home in New Orleans and told my grandmother they were selling a bunch of Elvis' Stuff, and did she want any? The white jumpsuit with cape was $5000 and they had handkerchiefs dabbed in his sweat, framed, and autographed $100 ea. My grandmother said (and I quote) "Patsy, if I bought any of that stuff, my husband would beat the hell out of me!" And so went my inheritance! The last time I saw that jumpsuit go through an auction, it went for (IIRC) $395,000............

We tried to shake hands but the span between our vehicles made that impossible. He was one of my heroes as a little kid. I use to imitate moves and my mama would ask me to do the "Elvis Freeze" for her friends. Lisa Marie's son really did look just like Elvis and there is a picture of him at that stage of his life in the Graceland Mansion. Thanks for the truth and the memories Michael! Blessings!

      @audiophile man All true, and Elvis gave credit and was extremely generous to blacks throughout his life (both those whom he employed in addition to complete strangers). One thing to keep in mind is that whites invented every instrument utilized in modern music, including those used in jazz. Also, in some cases, whites wrote lyrics to some of the early black artists' songs such as Big Mama Thornton's song "Hound Dog" (written by Lieber and Stoller who wrote many of Elvis' early hits too) which became a big early signature hit for Elvis when he covered it. Just calling balls and strikes. It's kind of hard to play music without instruments.

    I know that Elvis was an Army Veteran. Good on him for not using any opportunity to get out of serving after being drafted. I realize he may have not been a combat veteran. I am a combat Vet of OIF, OEF and more. At 43 years old I am a 100% disabled Veteran. But doctors at the VA will stop at no lengths to give me whatever I ask for in terms of pain medication. I told my doc, “look, I have had a problem with alcoholism after I came back from overseas.” Without even blinking she wrote me a script for Ambien. Which when mixed with alcoholism can be a death sentence. Thankfully, I had the wisdom to decline pain meds. But in Elvis’s day, it wasn’t simply going to your doctor to manipulate them into giving you a script. You trusted your doctor’s judgment so you went along. Some of us maybe blindly or not so blindly. But a level of naïveté existed. Even still. Elvis was outwardly anti-drug and perhaps naive to the fact that his prescription drugs were just as bad. If not worse. If he was using street drugs he may have had people around him to intervene. But when it is disguised as medication it can easily go undetected. 7 of my brother in arms lost their lives over my 12 years of service. If not from suicide then from opiates. Prescribed by the VA. 450 day plus sober! Praise God

    Thank you Michael for obviously doing the research and getting the facts right and presenting the truth. I've known most of what you had to say for many years. The book 'Destined to die young,' for me really just confirmed it, but also in much greater detail.
    Yes people swindled Lisa out of most of her money, with her own mother being top of the pile. And she is still going for the jackpot. Priscilla was the main reason also that Elvis was almost bankrupt when he died. She isn't the innocent person that she has attempted to portray. She is a gold digger. She challenged Lisa's 'Will,' immediately after the funeral. Lisa had cut her out of it. She claimed that Lisa's signiture was a forgery, yet her money and Elvis' Estate went to her children.
    Surely if it was indeed a forgery, some of the money would have gone places that Lisa hadn't intended, but it didn't. Priscilla also claims, not to have been informed of these changes, Lisa changed her 'Will', in 2016 shortly after Priscilla had sided with Michael Lockwood over his and Lisa's divorce during the custody battle over the twins.
    Seven years before her death Lisa changed her 'Will,' and Priscilla during that time remained uninformed. If she so so uninformed, why did Priscilla go searching for Lisa's 'Will,' before she went to the hospital during the last hours of Lisa's life. And one thing I only found out later, was that Priscilla alone made the decision to turn of Lisa's life support. And that was before Riley could get there. And now after all the stunts Priscilla has pulled in order to get a nice lump sum for herself and also she is now a paid advisor to Graceland.
    Not forgetting that Priscilla has somehow manged to weasel away part of Elvis' Estate for her son who, just like her is not a Presley. He is not related to Elvis in anyway. And Priscilla is Elvis' ex-wife, now Beaulieu, not Presley. And to top that off, she is to be buried as close to Elvis as possible. Now that is something that both Elvis and Lisa wouldn't want. Elvis cut Priscilla out of his 'Will,' everything went to Lisa, but Priscilla got her hands on it anyway.
    And Priscilla has managed to get all the details that lead to this sealed by the courts. Feels dodgy, what else is Priscilla trying to hide? She has even made mention that she now fears for her life, I bet she does. John Lennon was murdered by a Beatles fan he upset when he declared that the Beatles were bigger than Jesus Christ. On the part of Elvis, there is definitely more than one disgruntled Elvis fan when it comes to Priscilla. She contributed heavily to the early death of Elvis. She is not a very nice woman.
    Elvis was 42 when he died, just two days after his mother who died on the 14th August 1958 age 46.
    Elvis' weight gain wasn't entirely down to the medication, it was due to his life long illness which also made it difficult for him. TCE

    Elvis was Christian and he loved singing gospel songs.

    Uncle Mike.... congratulations on getting to the million subscribers mark! I actually used to watch your interviews, and talks you would give, before you even started the official channel. My father's parents came to the U.S. from Sicily (I have a super ethnic Italian name, I don't use my real name on TH-cam), so I'm always rooting for Italians lol. But besides being a fellow goomba, you have a great life story, you're a great story teller, as well as a very inspiring and motivational person. I appreciate you and I'm so proud and happy to be a part of your milly subs. Don't stop now, you're going to keep rising and inspiring. Take care of yourself as well. We want you around forever lol! God bless you and your family.

    Michael, I know you know how important you are to a lot of us. But To see you actually dedicate the rest of the chapter of your life to bless us with the Lord, and why after all that happened, we go to him, having you bro, talking to us, is a blessing. You are a legend, like few but we are lucky to live with them right now, thanks man, you the real deal, the real example man. Stay strong bro, I am glad after all these years you know what is right in today's world and what is wrong, and I'm glad that you are wise enough to handle the truth without affecting one second of what 'they' try to do. When you see, you see.

    I'm 45 and was born 12 days before Elvis died. Since I discovered his music as a kid I've felt his absence has been such a void in our world. His music was everything - if you needed a pick-me-up, his early 1954-58 rock is some of the best medicine. If you want to dance, he's got plenty of that. If you're reflective, going through a hard time with your significant other..... he's got many songs for that. If you want to go to church, his gospel albums are among the best.
    But this story tells you exactly the kind of person Elvis was...... one day he was just coming back to Graceland from wherever he was out at, he was in his limo, and he saw a man with a broke down old truck on the side of the highway. He told his driver to stop and back up to see if they could help him, maybe he needed some gas. The man was a home repair man and his truck was broken down, and he told Elvis he needed his truck for his job and was going to lose money that if he couldn't get back on the road. Elvis told him to get in, and he told his limo driver to drive them to the nearest Ford dealer. When they got there, he told the man to pick out any new truck that he wanted, and he bought it for him.
    Complete stranger.

    He is the greatest performer of all time! Also, what a humble man, he absolutely loved his fans, was super generous with his money and time. He would always go down to the gates at Graceland and also his home on HIllcrest Los Angeles to greet his fans, take pictures with them. He took a real interest in his fans and treated them with respect. Celebrities of today can take a lesson from him on how to treat their fans. He was an absolute blessing to humanity. May God rest your soul E and rest in Heavenly peace now Lisa with your beloved father and son.

      Elvis cherished fans for a simple reason -- he liked to make people happy, and he appreciated his success, he knew his fans made him the success he was and he knew poverty growing up, most celebs today don't come from that background like he did

    It definitely wasnt La Cosa Nostra Elvis was involved with, or he wouldnt have been so scared to sleep with Nancy Sinatra. She pursued him but he was (probably wisely) too afraid of her father disapproving.

      Nancy Sinatra gave Priscilla her baby shower when she was pregnant with Lisa Marie. They were all friends. You can find that story on Elvis' cousin's channel. Memphis Mafia Kid. I asked Jo Smith if she went to Priscilla's wedding or baby showers and she told us the story about that. She said, she drove and some of the other wives and girlfriend's went with her. She said even Michael Landon's wife was there too. It was a great story. 😊❤👍
