Bela Lugosi could merely read the letters of the alphabet, and his accent, style and presence would still make it a riveting experience! This film is in some ways delightful - and it is the best print of it I have ever seen. Thank you for posting this.
At 10:00, Bela is speaking Hungarian: "Mit csináltál, te rossz fiú? Gyere ülj le, majd adok én neked úgy viselkedni! Ülj le és ne mozdulj!" -> "What have you done, naughty boy? Come sit down, how dare you to misbehave! Sit down and don't move!"
He was very good in the old Dr. Kildare movies as the ambulance driver. Either when he was wielding his trusty monkey wrench or his interactions with the receptionist/dispatcher at the hospital.
Thank you for posting such a stellar print of this film! I've seen it multiple times and I have at least two different copies on DVD. this is one of the best prints I've ever seen. Great quality, terrific sound. Much appreciated!
Just watched this for the first time tonight and its a strange and underrated horror movie, that looks just as good in color as the leading actress Molly Lamont does.
At 59:10 again: "Ébredj fel itt mellettem / Hadd felejtsem el hogy férfi lettem / [unintelligible]" -> "Wake up here beside me / Let me forget that I was a man"
He's reciting a Sándor Petőfi poem, A szülőföldemen. "Foglaljatok helyet itt mellettem, / Take a seat beside me, Hadd felejtsem el, hogy férfi lettem, / Let me forget that I've become a man, Hogy vállamon huszonöt év van már..." / That I already have 25 years on my shoulders...
I can almost see Bela up in Heaven at the main gate with Saint Peter. "Peter" he says, "You let'em in, but when they come around the corner....I'll yell - BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" But of course....he'll only do that for those who were his biggest fan's down here on earth....lol.
From what I'm told, the only reason the 1994 movie "Ed Wood" was filmed in black and white was because nobody working on the film could find any color photos of Bela Lugosi. Apparently, this one was too obscure even for them at the time.
Bela's hungarian lines if anyone is interested 10:05 "What have done, you bad boy! I'll give it to you ( basically means 'i'll beat you up' ) sit down and don't move!"
I Love these old movies, who would think in 80years,it could still be gripping,2 of my Favourite Bela film's,,One Body to many,,Genius direction, staging,& acting,,& Gorilla,,Bela as Butler just adds that Bela-isms , quality to the proceedings,I think he was Very Underrated,x
Bad- you look at Bela Lugosi and think, “Man, I don’t remember him looking THIS hideously creepy before!” Worse, you realize that you have been looking into the mirror next to the video screen.
Ce film a été édité par Bach film mais les couleurs rayures collages. Enfin j'ai découvert ce film . la l'image est net et une belle restauration. Merci beaucoup pour ce beau travail.
I had never seen it colorized, it looks like a different movie to me, maybe cause I've seen it b4 in that format but still, I'm "digesting" the color format still🤔
You might have seen it in black and white, even on a color TV. When the studios and distributors made copies of old films for TV, especially cheapies like this, sometimes the prints were in B&W. Besides, very few people had color TV's back in the 50s and early 60s. So why bother with the expense? I'm guessing that that might have been the case with this oldie. BTW, this is the only color film Lugosi starred in.
It's a difficult movie to digest but as a mystery I had no idea till the end when it was explain it was a great movie because I had to see the whole movie till the end some of the dialogue was kind of outdated but remember how long ago this movie was made I give it a B+
It amazes me how often people cannot seem to be able deconstruct a movie down into its components to say what was either good or bad about those. Often you get: *_'Well... I just didn't like it..._* Instead of - photography was exceptional, but the sets were awful, or the acting was great but the music was terrible. Here it's crystal-clear why this movie is so bad: It's just so _atrociously written,_ a truly bovine shambles of a script with the all characters arbitrarily floating in and out of scenes, their motivations all confused into one big jumbled mess, as evidenced by the denouement - that's just randomly thrown in @1:05:53 when the required running time has now been reached.
Well, dispite of the wonderful print, I have to say, that's one hour seven minutes of my life i'll never get back!!! Not the finest film ever but a reminder of how bad some could be!!

Bela Lugosi could speak very well and I love his great accent!
Bela plus zooco make this a must especially since this is lugosi's only color film.
Oldie but goody! Bela Lugosi and George Zucco are two old time favorites of mine.
Bela Lugosi, the Best, great film thanks for sharing

This movie was hilarious! The lines were so dumb you could see the actors almost laugh. Very entertaining comedy and mystery 👍

Movie from mid XX century ...Quality 'end of' XXI century\
Thank You.
Bela is so cool even when hes in a colorized film , he still shows in black and white 😅
This movie actually isn’t colorized.
It was the only color movie Bêla Lugosi ever appeared in. It was filmed in Cinecolor.
@@anton1990you are correct.
😂😂
The credits say "photographed in Natural Color." I know reading is difficult, but jeez.
The comedy relief (especially the dimwitted detective) is what made this bearable.
Wish they’d spent more on the story and script that the color film.

I'll set my watch to it
Lugosi seems so joyful and helpful in a lot of his movies. I guess you have to be if you're a psychopathic murdering scientist. Just guessing!

Anyway to get Dracula 1931 with Bela Lugosi in it on here please and thank you ?
Lookee here. I found a good one.
Really, how can this midget hit the doctor in the head on level ground? The color was excellent for '47. Bela was the best Dracula.(ls)
Filmed in Cinecolor. Difficult developing process, downsides made light green dark green and purples, magenta. It was used mostly in cartoons.
Bela was Hungarian-Rumanian so was Vlad Tepes. Christopher Lee was English. These were the only two Draculas that were any good in the role.
if I don't get scared tonight watch8ing this I'm comin back for revenge!
The reporter sounds like Steve Buscemi! Lol!
Good copy. Can the bluray be far off?
I WOULDNT HOLD MY BEATH FOR A BLURAY.
It hurts me that Bela had to be in this...what humility he had.Maybe they learned to act in the future.Maybe Bela would rub off on that corny cast. 🤔
i have never seen this before and hope to never see it again
