    The PW is literally an undiscovered gem. The perfect overlanding truck.

      I couldn’t agree more. It has everything someone would need. It’s definitely tight on trails, but worth it.

    Awesome! I just picked up a white 2020 Power Wagon and plan to use it for overlanding. I traded in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xE and have owned many Jeeps, a 2014 PW, and a Gladiator Rubicon in the past. Same reasons as you: the room, the capability, and a few others that I realized after owning a 4xE for 7 months, drew me back to my favorite truck of all-time. Can't wait to see your future mods!

      To funny, I own a 21 PW and just added a 22 Rubi 4xe (wife). I have owned a plethora of pickup trucks over the last 30 years and must say this thing is my absolute favorite.

    As a current PW owner who cross shopped the gladiator as well I know you will be pleased. We are a family of four who ride mtb and climb regularly. Fitting all of the outdoor gear and still being comfortable while still have a truck capable enough to go wheeling made the PW the obvious choice. And honestly, if you are scared of pinstripes the PW fits on 99% of trails. Even here on the East Coast(Pa, Va, Wv) I haven’t had a problem getting it through and in many cases the long wheel base makes it more stable through obstacles that make my rubicon feel tippy and it make steep climbs feel like cheating. Give me holler if you ever want to get mtb/Pw trip together.

    • @roamingwithjosh
      @roamingwithjosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s rare someone gets exactly why we did it. We climb, MTB and wake board so my options was have two trucks or have 1 truck to do it all and this was the best option. We love this thing so far and honestly it’s a beast! Hit me up on Instagram to try and coordinate something.

    • @leeryder676

      I cross shopped the gladiator (and c8, oddly) as well. Simply couldn't get beyond the upcharge of the gladiator that's has half the size and at best e/4 capability of the power wagon.
      The Jeep is good, but the PW is superb.

      This comment is exactly what I have been needing. I live in the midwest and most trails would be in the same setting of PA, VA, and WV. I didn't really want a jeep because I still need to tow a smallish boat.

      Owned a Gladiator Rubi prior to our PW. On 37's, the gladdy was horribly underpowered. The PW is the perfect truck for over landing and offroading.

It was rough but extremely fun. It is a little nerve racking but I highly recommend doing it. I just traded a new Gladiator and picked up a new PW. The Gladiator struggled to pull a 2500lb Turtleback Trailer even though it is rated to tow 7,000 lbs. I wasn’t going to keep torturing that poor Jeep! I am very much looking forward to taking my trailer out, I have only had my Power Wagon four days. Thanks for the great review - as noted, it is hard to find much on the PW, which is surprising. I'm cross shopping vs. the other likely suspects. Careful with that ground clearance figure that was quoted in the video. It is measured differently (exaggerated) on the Powerwagon and not comparable to other vehicles. IIRC, ground clearance is actually a bit less than other "similarly equipped" trucks when measured the same way.

    Your "actual" ground clearance is the distance from the bottom of the lowest Differential ( usually the rear) to the ground. Measure from the the bottom of that rear pumpkin to the ground. You will be way less than you think. I bet you are around 11"-12" with the 37" tires. We have several trucks on 37" tires. Its no where close unfortunately. Great video as always!

But I'm so use to the space and rambox I wonder if the sub is not gonna have the stealth ability to hide or add as much stuff. Not crazy about gas mileage for everyday I get maybe 17 HW unloaded. So I like idea of outback being rugged yet powerful and mpgs would double.

    • @roamingwithjosh
      @roamingwithjosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a delicate balance and really it comes down to what you truly use the vehicle for. We tow our boat and have a lot of extra gear we carry on long trips for various outdoor sports so having the power wagon will give us the space we need as well as the capability we want. We still love the OBW and intend to continue building it to see just how far we can take it.

      @roamingwithjosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the 300lb-ish difference between the load ratings will make much difference for us. When towing our boat we're only adding about 600lbs of tongue weight so we will be in the safe zone. We ordered ours way in advance expecting it to take a while. We had it ordered before we officially ordered the truck.

      Tough choice. I’ve had jeeps and now a 2019 PW. I test drove the gladiator rubicon last week thinking I may trade the PW and down size to the gladiator. I can tell you the PW is extremely comfortable inside and smooth on the road. It eats a ton of gas though. To me the gladiator’s steering felt loose and tended to wander but that was similar to my previous jeeps. Im just used to my PW now so I’ll be keeping it since I just feel safer in it (I’m older now). Good luck. Can’t go wrong either way.

    You lost me. I thought we shared the same passion for Jeeps and overlanding. I had fun looking at what you were doing, why and how and found you excellent at it. Your wife also gave another dimension to your videos and it was fun. While I respect the other truck makers, I just don’t see the purpose for me watching you and see what you do with your Dodge Ram. Not interested. It is sad though cause I really enjoyed it. Thanks anyway and good look with your Ram. Maybe next year I’ll see you overlanding with a Hyundai Palissade! Wouldn’t be surprise lol….
    I think that every time you change your rig, you start over with a new audience or maybe a part of it that would have been your core followers (like me). Looking at your competition on TH-cam, they evolve with the same type of rigs (Casey, Trail Recon, Venture4wd, etc.). Maybe this is what you want? Be different but you were with how you approached your subject, the quality of your videos, etc. I’m sure you would be at 25k or 50k just like them…. But going to Subaru, Dodge, Hyundai and who knows… it’s just not interesting to me. There are 6K that will have a different opinion than me but 44K and more who would agree with me.

    • @roamingwithjosh
      @roamingwithjosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To think that the reason I do TH-cam is to be the next big thing and try and capture an audience for profit is your first mistake. Although I respect your opinion, I do this to have fun and learn how to use a camera and create content and enjoy the experience. The Power Wagon literally fits directly into overlanding and maybe you just don't care because you want me to make content and buy cars and spend money that YOU want to see, but TH-cam is something I do as a hobby and if I want to rig out a Hyundai I will because it's what I want to do. This isn't my job and I'm not beholden to anyone. Luckily there's 5987239864 other channels with Jeep content that you can watch to fill your viewing time. Although we appreciate every like and comment and subscriber, this hobby is for us and our family not a base of people that have opinions on what we should be doing.

I love the 24mpg and the fact it can fit my family of 6, but it's awfully boring. I'm highly considering getting another JL rubicon. I'd feel much better about the power wagon if it wasn't for 12-14mpg and the fact those front and rear middle seats are more of a joke.
