Great video. I have the White Madeira and JH Adriatic growing as cuttings. But, it was good to learn about Harry's Crete. I may have time to order the cuttings of that before spring. Thanks again.
First, let me say, you have 3 lovely intelligent children!! And 1 very lazy dog ;) You are definitely blessed. Great descriptions of each of the fig varieties. My personal take home lesson from this is.....I'm probably picking my figs too soon, and not getting their full flavor development. Of course, competition from the birds makes it more challenging to leave the fruit on the tree longer, but WOW, what a great bunch of figs you've got!! I very much enjoyed the demonstration. Our temps in the San Fernando Valley are in blaze mode right now, so I've sprayed all my trees with Surround for protection, and have upped my watering schedule until this heat wave passes. Lovely video - Thank You Eric
Would the result be the same if you did the same taste test in cold fall weather? My last few black mission and Violette de Bordeaux figs (all I’ve got as I’m a newbie) were inedible by November, although where I live in SoCal we didn’t get a freeze until December. My impression is that Adriatics produce good fruit well into cool fall weather, but I’m wondering if any variety stands above the rest come November, to stretch my fig season.
I prefer this video vs. solo, your kids are great. However, I also think you introduced bias by ordering the figs based on your personal taste preferences and speaking first. Would be interesting in the future to have them eat the figs in random order and asking for their opinions first before you weigh in. Just my two cents.
@@figsandchocolate5553 this was my initial thoughts as well Eric. The kids did great, and I love how you guided them, but I'd like to hear their untainted opinions as well! -Shaft
These are some of the best flavor descriptions I’ve heard. You and the kids are great. Most of the time It’s always “honey, berry, jam” 😂
It's nice to see the kids doing the taste review with dad . I loved their participation and inputs. Have them in the next vids pls

I’ve been looking all over for a comparison video like this. Enjoyed the video!
Nice comparison. They all seem good.
White Madeira #1. Tops the list with this panel. Thank you.
Yet again confirming that I want to get WM#1! I have strawberry verte, panache, JH Adriatic, Unknown prosciuto, and Harry's Crete. Thanks!

Great feedback. I heard this from a couple others as well. My newest one with the kids was led by them. Let me know what you think of that one.
