Austin does a great job here and his musical theater training shows, but Rob is the one who just blows you away. Rob has trained in classic opera but had not done it for about 15 years, Austin had pushed him to do it for a long time and he said the only way he'd do it is if Austin did it with him, and this is the result. The power in Rob's voice is just astonishing.

Surprising, no? Rob has a degree in music, and has opera training. Austin has a degree in music theater, and convinced Rob (took a bit of time) to sing this.
Rob is like Avi Kaplan who is also classically trained..think lower basso perfundo? But have just chosen different career paths but their voices are amazing in any genre!
It is surprising in that it had been 15 years since Rob had done Opra. His level of technique retention is truly impressive.
This is why Home Free is so damn good. Its parts are phenomenal.Another Home Free number that proves skill beyond imagining is "Helplessly Hoping" -- 5 beautiful voices creating one perfect instrument.
In an interview with Patrol Gaming, Austin said he'd really wanted to show off "opera' Rob - but Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him. Austin went on to say that he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was just fabulous. I love the way they support each other as well as other singers (Texas Hill, Makena Hartlin, Straight No Chaser, the Bass Gang, etc.) Now you need to see Austin sing "Bring Him Home" (on his channel).
Definitely worthy of a "Standing O". It doesn't matter the genre, Rob and Austin (and the rest of Home Free) can sing anything! Please keep the Home Free content coming, you now know that they never disappoint!
Just so you know, Home Free has been independent for the past four years. So anything from their "Dive Bar Saints" album and after, you will not get a copyright strike for. Nor will you for anything on Austin's or Tim's YT channels. The main reason they went independent was so people could do reaction videos. They have been very supportive of the reaction community for a very long time. So glad you got to see this one. It's a masterpiece.

Rob is a classically/operatically trained singer.
Austin is a Theatrically trained singer.
You never know who might be singing country these days.
Avi Kaplan, former bass for Pentatonix is also a classically/operatically trained vocalist.
In his solo career, both writing and singing, he lends his voice to folk, country and western along with some older songs.

Many professional opera singers seeing, this has said Rob could easily have gone professional and done very well.
They just dropped a song the wrote and sang for upcoming game released from ubisoft call “skull and bones”
What these guys can do is mind blowing. Listening to this, you can identify Austin's voice--it's Austin doing an absolutely fantastic job of singing opera, but Rob doesn't even sound like himself. Rob sounds like an opera singer. 🤯

Now that you know he is capable of it, Austin's cover of 'Bring Him Home' probably won't stun you, but you should watch it, anyway. His musical theater training really shows in that one.
They did such an amazing job on this. They said that they were very nervous about it, thinking that their fans might not like it. Ha! They really CAN sing pretty much whatever they want.
And the fans have all "loved" it !!!
I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
Loved the respect you were showing them. Rob had some serious training and Austin had a music theater background but both have killer voices. I guess Austin had to agree to sing with Rob in order to get him to do this. They are so good! Thank you so much Anthony!

I love watching your reactions to the guys from Home Free. Rob not only studied but was into Opera for a good 15 years. Austin;s background is quite different as Broadway Musical style. Rob actually made me cry as he is very similar to another favorite of mine...Luciano Pavarotti. So deeply beautiful and mesmerizing. These guys can sing anything. It's wonderful to know that another Belgian besides my husband appreciates their talents. Thank you and please keep the Home Free coming. 💜💜💜
I think Rob studied Opera in College but has not SUNG any Opera for 15 years, as opposed to having been in Opera for 15 years.

Rob blew me away with his performance. As I understand it, he learned the piece in college. Austin does a good job and would make a great crossover artist.
This is on Austin's channel, so there are not likely to be any copyright issues.
Rob and Austin have a special friendship dating back 10 years . When Austin first saw Home Free perform, he says it was Rob's voice struck him most. It was Rob who let Austin know that there might be a vacancy coming up and contacted him when there was. In live recordings you often see them sharing a joke in the background. And now this.
Rob's voice gets most of the applause, but Austin's bright incisive tone on those top notes is real goosebump time. In fact Rob's "opera" voice, lovely though it is, is not as marketable in the modern musical market as Austin's. The old operatic workhorses of Italian opera have become rather unfashionable and modern opera prefers the agility and youthful tone of a lyric tenor.
Shout out to Sebastien Douyon for the arrangement of a solo aria as a duet and for the production.

Absolutely wonderful! Austin looks so proud of Rob, we all know that Austin has a musical theater background, but I hadn’t known about Rob having studied opera in college. It sounds like he never stopped singing, I love Home Free as it is, they are so much fun and incredibly talented, but they can also make you cry. This is wow, wow and again wow. It is insane and extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical and so rich Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..
Really enjoyed your standing ovation !!! Austin has a solo channel with some great original music and some wonderful covers. He has a college degree in Musical Theater, he does fabulous cover of "Bring Him Home" from the broadway musical "Les Miserables". Would love to see your reaction !!
Btw, they will be touring in Europe in Sept. Hope they are going to be somewhere close to you. Their live concerts are incredibly entertaining.

You popping off in (what I assume to be) Flemish at the beginning went hard. No idea what you were saying, but it was badass. And yeah, Rob is classically trained as an opera singer. I'm sure someone else mentioned it, but he was really apprehensive about doing this because he hadn't practiced opera in years, and Austin talked him into it. He absolutely knocked it out of the park.

I hear over and over that Rob doesn’t look like that country tenor ought to be coming out of his mouth. He looks like THIS voice ought to be coming out of his mouth. He’s such an amazing dramatic tenor! Austin’s voice is still that light, lyrical tenor, but Rob’s voice was such a marvelous surprise!

Rob is a city kid. Austin is a country boy but from early in his career travelled the world and lived in LA. Not really much country about them!
When I first heard this I'm sure my mouth was open in disbelief. Rob could have had a serious career in opera. The HF guys always acknowledge Rob as having the best voice. He had to be convinced to sing country. He does every genre so well that it seems like it's just a throw away for him. He

He has the chiaroscuro of a true opera singer- the darker tones that thrill the listener.
When you realize that Opera singers train to sing OVER a full orchestra without a microphone.... you appreciate it that much more. I can see you've listened to some Opera in the past.

When I first listened and Rob started singing, I really thought it was a joke, 😅with the title they put on the video ‘attempt to sing’! I really thought they had dubbed someone’s voice over Rob’s! Then I heard Austin and clearly could tell that it was his voice! 😮When I realized I was so amazed an when it was done I had to replay! the late, great Pavarotti ( R.I.P.) says....."you better sing, boys!" -- btw Nessun Dorma means "no one sleeps" and this aria is sung by all the great and near great operatic vocalists.......originally composed for one male voice, though female artists have also sung this beautiful piece of music.......
