Thanks for not sleeping on reverb. I've been watching a bunch of videos about "essential bass pedals" and reverb seems to be neglected as a bass effect. In my own playing, I'm discovering that just a small dose of reverb really does wonders.
If a specific "bass reverb" was ever to be designed, it 100% needs to come with a low cut knob. If I can choose so, I always cut everything below 500Hz on my reverb patches
At first, I was for the Boss: the classic reverb sound I imagine to add to my bass lines (moostly fretless) is the one the Boss delivers me, but I really find the EH interesting from a creative point of view. It makes me think I can play with different settings to find new textures. The MXR is the less interesting to me: I find it a little "cold". Anonymous. I'll probably go with the EH Oceans 11 with the fretless basses I have. Thanks for the video, realy well made!👍👍👍
I'm not usually a shoulda ,woulda ,coulda kinda guy .So as a disclaimer I would like to state for the record that this is just a comment ,not a critque .I wish there would have been a low end rhythm part to showcase how useful reverb can be .Much like guitar mine is hardly ever off on my Bass board .Like you mentioned subtle is key .I love all these brands ,in fact have way more EHX ,and Boss pedals than MXR .I have over a 1/2 dozen reverbs, never tried those first two ,however the MXR is what's on my Bass board, and it's fantastic on Bass(especially the pad setting) I love how you can tap the mode knob to cycle through them as well ,and yes I use my foot to do that .For guitar out of those three ,I would chose the 11 as well .I have a compact board that I swapped in a Canyons (so I could sneak in some reverb) ,and it's great .
For bass, I have the Boss RV-6 and the tc electronic HOF mini, as well as a Boss GT-1000Core, although that is currently dedicated to guitar, for me. I'm planning on replacing the HOF mini with a One Control BJFe Prussian Blue.
I love the Mxr pad on bass The rv-6 was too muddy I personally use a boss rv500 because I can precisely adjust my parameters to reduce any muddiness and stuff like that..
Nice demo, as usual, guys! Currently, I don't have reverb on my mostly EHX (10 out of 13 pedals) pedalboard. I have a Memory Toy delay. Based on this, I would go with the Oceans 11 for the variety of effects, but for considering practicality and realistically how much it would be used, the Boss might a better choice for my stylings. The MXR just sounded weak to me, as opposed to subtle. But to be fair, reverb is not an effect I considered for my big board, and even in my multis (Boss ME-50B, Zoom B9.1ut) I rarely use the reverb; just for some occasional coloring.
I like subtle reverb on bass. I’m not really into solo stuff, and subtle seems to blend better. MXR nails that. The Boss can do the subtle sound well, and push better into more classic tones. The EH sound is a bit much for me. BOSS is the winner for me.
Yeah in this shootout there really isn't a loser - I just found the EHX more unique I guess, and could see it really adding to a simple arrangement in a huge way.
Not my favourite sound for bass. I’m old school ... so nothing .. even on 6 string acoustic .. nothing. 6 string electric .. minimal 10%ish. I would never run any verb at noon or above… On anything.
Excellent use of reverb with fretless bass guitar. What a heavenly harps-like sound.
I was impressed with the sound of the Boss pedal

Any reverb pedal that lets you completely take out the dry signal can give you some cool cello sounds
I use a Strymon Flint and absolutely love it. My favorite reverb out there.
I like to use reverb on my bass, thanks for the comparison! thumb up! 👍
RV-6 Spring and Mod Reverb is the best.

Bach Cello Suite No. 1 - 2nd Minuet
@@JonathanStefaniak Thanks! 👍
Boss
Bach. ❤️🎶
wtf is going on at 11:50 ?
I want to know!! 😂
Has anybody tried or demoed the Joyo Atmosphere reverb pedal with bass?
Polara by Digitech is good (discontinued)
I think the Polara will be back in production soon, as soon as the newly reanimated Digitech can get chips for it.
