I have 2 of these exact same alarms in my place except that they are painted red with the name “Valiant” on them. But essentially the exact same unit with the exact same horn, battery, switch and made in “Hong Kong” The horn screens on mine are also round with circular vents as opposed to louvred vents.
Interesting. Are they in a collection or are they actually installed alarms ? These are rare pieces for sure. I'm getting another rare alarm very soon. And got another shortly after this one. I like these older fire and burglar alarm combinations.
@@mikeross880 Cool. I would love to see a video of them. Do you have the original boxes as well..that makes them even more valuable. These alarms are definitely rare gems. The more recent one I got is a very vintage personal alarm dating back to the late 1960s. I didn't even realize they had been around that long. I thought those were developed in the 1980s. Even cooler is that it features a loud higher pitched squealer horn similar to this.
@@mikeross880 I was lucky to find this one with the original box on Ebay and in very good shape. also had the instruction manual that was slightly ripped and mounting plate and screws with it. The other one I got plus the one that is coming to me also had the original box. They feature neat looking graphics for its time as well. Hope you can find one with an original box at some point. It is rare if they do.
Cool. These combination burglar/fire alarms I think were something that never caught on. There are a few other interesting ones Im looking at over the next while on Ebay if they are still available. These units again can be a hit and miss because the metal strip can often be corroded in the case of the Merlites. In this case it worked too well.
I'm from Philadlephia. Here, we say "noice!" as a slang term.

Collection. With their basic circuitry they both work well and are amoung my favourite alarms.

No unfortunately, I would love to find one of these with the original box.
