As a female rider I wish I had known that putting your feet flat on the ground is not necessary, I started with a V Star 650 because everyone was telling me I needed to have my feet flat on the ground to learn. I hated that bike and almost gave it up until I bought my Honda CBR 500R. The bike was so light and the weight distribution low down, it did not matter that I was on my toes. I have now just bought the Honda CB 1000R 2018, I have to move my butt off the side of the seat to touch the ground with one foot . As confidence builds with riding skills it has become a non issue (touching the ground). My advice is to sit on as many different bikes as possible and go for what is comfortable fit for you. Also consider and this is just my opinion, cruisers handle completely different from other bikes, for me I found out I did not enjoy riding them so I would think about what type of riding you want to do. Another thing I wish I new is with every bike I have ridden in various class's of power, they all handle differently, so if you can test ride do, the third bike I bought if I had taken it for a test ride I would have left it at the shop. I wish someone had told me as these were expensive mistakes.
Thanks for having me on here! Really enjoyed this one
As an officer of a UK MCC club I love this video, my advice is what you don't know is a blessing because the knowledge you gain along the way and filling in the blanks is what makes you a better rider. MLR from the UK 👊
lol! Thank you so much for inviting me to be apart of this Meghan!
I'm just gonna die laughing at everyone "the community! people are awesome!" and I'm like: "maybe people.... nope. Rain Gear. I wish I knew about good waterproof gear." XD I don't know if that says a lot about me oooor what lol
Although I do also 100% agree with Cyndi, understanding more parts on the motorcycle and how they worked -clutch, and also how your brakes engage, how carbs work etc- def makes the act of controlling a motorcycle make more sense!
Honestly I feel you on that front though! I forgot to include my response to the question (lol), but before I got everyone's video, I thought about how I wish I knew that rain feels like a million little needles! haha. That's something that doesn't really get talked about a whole lot in beginner tips videos or necessarily during rider instruction.
lol Thanks Meghan XD That make me feel a bit better!
honestly.. you're like the only one that actually answered the question.. everyone else is just doing introductions how or when they started riding.. and honestly, every hobby has great people that will be great since you all like the same thing... Meghan should change the name of this video, because it only shows the emberessing typical female syndrom of talking and not even knowing what they actually wanted to talk about in the first place..
The only question I have is how everyone has a garage full of so many tools and stands. I want that 😂
I wish I'd known just how much fun it is, I wouldn't have waited till I was 52 to get my license!!
I love this video!!! For me there are 2 things. 1) that I can counter balance the big cruisers. That the skills are the same no matter what bike you ride. And 2) I wish I knew how free I feel when I am riding. In that moment I am completely present and all the chaos of life melts away. I am already following about half of these amazing female riders, but will be following the rest now. And if you are tired of the cold, come ride with me in Central Cali.
Awesome additions to this, thank you for sharing! Presence and motorcycling is so important to me. I wrote an essay about this recently that I hope to turn into a video soon.
I wish there were a lot more women riders and young riders.
It's a growing demographic! We'll be seeing more and more as the years go on
I don’t want more women riders I just want more riders
@@Sss12698 The more the merrier!
I was deathly afraid of motorcycles for ummm idk... like my whole damn life. Two years ago a friend talked me into getting my license, so I went and did the course and got my license. I didn't buy a bike until this year in September for my 37th birthday and now I'm kicking myself in the ass for missing out on this for soooo long. The one thing I would say is I wish I would have known how F*ing addicting riding motorcycles is.
Yay!!!
Just put a deposit down on a 2003 Honda Goldwing Trike. I'm 55 and never ridden a bike but I'm so excited to get started! Now to get some license! 😁
Loved this. I've been riding since 2003 but had a 7 years break when I had my child. Coming back to it was difficult, but now I'm proud to say that not only I'm back on the road, but also introducing my daughter to it. Hearing that we don't have anything to prove was so liberating! Thank you
I just bought my first motorcycle yesterday after having my motorcycle license for a few years and am so excited, but also nervous. This helped me so much! Thank you ❤
Hi Meghan, I am a relatively new rider and just want to say how much I appreciated this video! My husband is always telling me to get out of my head about riding and I know in my heart that he's absolutely right. It is so refreshing to see/hear that other women riders have had that same concern. I am so excited to continue my Harley journey and to do it with confidence! Thank you!
When a woman tells me she rides a motorcycle I instantly have more respect for her
Good stuff....probably the best advice in this video is applicable to all new riders: you do not need to prove anything to anyone. Just ride, enjoy and be safe.
Why?
When someone regardless of gender tell me they do a 2:00 on the Assen GP track, I have more respect for them since they achieve what I can't
since when does what's dangling between your legs automatically provides respect?
Being not only female but also only 20, I feel so disconnected from the majority of my peers. Everyone's on TikTok and Tinder but I'm on a Harley :))
Hoping to take my safety course here with the Navy soon. I am ;thrilled to get started on this journey and looking to meet more female riders!
I am really glad I came across this video. I just started riding in July 2020 on a HD Sportster Iron 1200. The comments about confidence were spot on.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this dear. You were spot on with this video and I love that we all share the same views. 🖤🖤🖤
Absolutely!!
Whit loved seeing ya here
i’m 16 and have wanted a bike for a longgg time. Everyone is too worried for me and says i shouldn’t. all i want is to hop on a bike and go in the mountains
Omg same????
I wish I knew beforehand that the guy filming Cyndi couldn't keep still as I was experiencing motion sickness by the end of that interview.
The sound quality of that part made it hard to understand
are you being hurtful or helpful?
Just sat down to watch this with Momma Soph and it was a great video, some great insights there from those who contributed! Thanks for putting this together!
Loved the video! I have been riding on the back of motorcycles since I was 5 and learned to ride myself when I was 12. I started on dirt bikes and moved on to cruisers. My family all rode cruiser style motorcycles so it was expected that I would also ride those. Well, recently I switched to a Honda CBF and a Yamaha R3. After 15+ years of riding, I never had the chance to try sport style bikes. I wish when I had start learning to ride on the road, that someone had introduced me to sport bikes. I love the riding style, the handling, and the look of them. My advice to anyone who wants to get into riding, don’t put down any bike style before trying it. It might surprise you with which style you end up falling on love with!
oh, wow, this is soo encouraging and so sweet! thank you for being there!
Meghan
You and Doodle are my favorite female bloggers of all time! I have been with both of you since your beginnings and fully support you girls. Both of you have shared your honesty of your trials and tribulations Bold faced to the world. That takes guts! I love your channel and will always support you!!
Peace and have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
Riding has become an integral part of who i am.
In love with motorbike i wish i can afford one , 💪 i work hard to get one
Start small.
Takeaway... Fabulous video Meghan!
I find women that ride motorcycles are more intelligent, out going, sporty and interesting than women that don't ride. I have ridden on a whole lot of Distinguished Gentlemen's rides with girls in tow.
They were epic to say the least! They were more skilled as riders than most of the guys! Bravo! And... they looked beautiful and stylish at the same time. The world needs more passionate women on motorcycles period.
BTW... I LOVE the apparel I just received!!! Your shirts, designs and all other stuff is beyond fantastic! I will be buying more for sure... Gorgeous stuff on your Great Lakes Supply site.
Cheers
Nobody talks about how difficult it is once you're older and want to get into this. All the videos I watch is of young females or women that rode as children .... I'm all alone with my problems and I understand why new older women that ride don't exist.
I will try to reach out to more older beginners next time, this is a very good point. There were a few women in my rider course who were over 40 and I know that perspective is very much needed!
I am an older rider if 54 yrs young and started I last August!! There are tons of us!
I’m 52 and trying to get into riding
not only all that but also it's time to get rid of those half naked females holding the umbrellas next to the male racers
Don't let your mind trick you into thinking its difficult. I haven't seen any older women making videos, but that doesn't mean older women don't ride. I just think we're not as vocal about it. My son brought home a (non running) bike early this spring which gave me the "bike bug". I hadn't ridden in 30+ years (and that experience was very limited to a couple months one summer in the '80s with a friend's bike), don't have any friends/family that ride but still went out and got one. Passed the MSF course last weekend and am just waiting on my certificate to be legal. As for finding a bike, I just scoured the internet for a couple weeks, reading everything I could on different motorcycles. Specs, reviews, local shop locations and inventory/prices. Familiarize yourself with an idea and just keep pushing toward it. You will find others when you begin to interact more in their circles. Good luck to you. You can do this.
This is so inspiring! Thank you ladies! ❤️🤘🏻
I am a female rider in Indiana. I got my first bike when I turned 60. I go out all alone all the time. Got a 95 Honda Shadow 650. Now in the market for my second bike 2 years later. A cruiser bigger engine and gas tank. But I LOVE LOVE being a lady rider.
Wow! Wonderful video and great interviews. Will share with my wife as soon as I talk her into my bike.
As a women and new rider in my 40's, I wish I knew how much fun riding is!! I love it.💕💕
I wish I knew how to French braid my hair 🙇🏻♀️
This was so informative!! I love this thank you, Meghan. I just started my beginner training last week and I was a born natural for this !! Thanks for the uplaod
My wife is just about to join my channel. She’s a complete newby. Bought herself an XT250 Yamaha and it’s gonna be a blast. Introducing herself to my channel and viewers tonight!!! She’s excited and nervous so if you come across the channel ... give her a welcome wave 🥰👍🏼 ... and I just sent her this video link to inspire her even more 🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼
TH-cam is finally showing me the content I need.
Still have 4 years to save up for one, till I can actually legally buy one
You have got more of a community of riders in the US than we do in the UK.
I really especially like Whitney's response. I wish so bad that I started earlier.
Great video. I think as women we may be more prone to considering a lot more elements than men (from my experience, after starting riding in 1991). I think social media can be a good tool. Well done ladies. Great topic and responses. Ride safe, LJ
Great video! Love to hear ya'll side of things and see how they compare to "Us Guys" LOL. Well Done Ms. Stark!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can I please have some advice please. My daughter is 100 Lbs wet and almost 18! She wants a bike more than anything I am begging not to, she speeds 100+ in her car she’s gone through red lights accidentally, She just got her license this year! My FATHER WAS KILLED by a drunk driver in the afternoon on a smooth Sunday ride on his new bike! He had it for a month! And was KILLED drug 180 yards under a dodge intrepid, every bone broken skinned alive, only thing not broken or broke off of him or skinned was his head safe and sound in his helmet! I’m. Not okay with this at all!!!! Please 🙏 advise! I don’t support this life style for her she’s too risky of a person a thrill seeker! I feel I’m gonna lose her and she said people die young mom it’s a part of life! That’s heartbreaking no one knows pain like a survivor left behind! If my daughter is killed I will Unalive myself that’s a promise in no way can I live with that PAIN! What is your advice please 😢 what should I do or say?
I love this video so much!! You ladies all ROCK. Wonderful insight and advice. This video was very inspiring for the female motorcycle community!!
thanks for sharing your experience in riding motorcycles, ladies. I have so much more to learn.
Yes there's always more to learn!
This was really good. I hope it encourages more women into getting out there and riding. A totally agree that there is nothing to prove to anyone. If you're riding, then you're family, that's all.
I like this video. I like how you broken down the differant style riders. Great content!
Glad you liked it! There's many more where this came from.
Bottom line as you wrap up your video, you are so right. You have nothing to prove as a woman on two wheels. Just be you. We all have a passion for riding and that is all that matters. I started riding 50 years ago when I was 10. I competed in the 1970s in Observed Trials and flat track racing. Back then women were quite rare but I've never had any problem. We all shared a common love and that is all that mattered.
I wish there were more female racing schools and competition events like MotoGP
It's interesting, ladies are way better at building each other up in fields traditionally dominated by men, whereas men, yeesh, everyone seems to know more than the next guy, doesn't matter really what you're on, if it's right for you, and you're riding, then you're a rider 😄👌🏻
I am 39. Is is too late to start riding? And what kind of helmet is best for slow cruising?
@secret sources I will. This summer.
Mizz Megz, these are my favorite type of Motovids, whereby other Female Riders interact and/or work together to encourage others.! I've been following Amanda, Carolyn, Whitney & yourself here on YT. I'd gladly subscribe to Cindi, Andrea & Kelly if they had TH-cam accounts. - Angel (Uniting Girls Riders everyehere)
Great video Meghan. Y’all girls are taking the motorcycle world over 😜😜😎😎
You know it!
I am going to do my motorbike training soon and i am so excited
Best of luck to you!
Where are you going to for that?
Men, remember if you meet a female rider, don't simp and just treat her like one of the boys.
love you I found you through Moto Miles page!!
Not feeling the need to prove yourself to anyone is an area in which women riders rise above men, who generally feel compelled to push their limits, to prove their skill and daring to themselves and others, and/or shouting "Hey, look at me!" with painfully loud exhaust systems. As with many things, women are usually more sensible, more adult in their judgement and estimation of consequences (the consequences of acting like an idiot). There are individual exceptions, of course, but it generally seems pretty clear to me - as a wise, old man.
Ladies, I would have liked you all to my motorcycle friend, Margie Bird from around Portland area. She travelled American in white Dodge van pulling single motorcycle trailer with Yamaha 750 Virgo. She'd travel, park van an explore areas on bike, then travel in van an explore on bike. I met her on I-5 Oregon, Pensacola Florida! She rode an loved sport when women were few on bikes. She always had a smile an would do anything to help! It's unknown women enthusiast like Margie Bird that should be remembered!
Women don't have to just ride with other women. Most mature men my age would welcome women riders on rides. Whenever I see a woman riding a motorcycle, truck, jeep, semi, I grin from ear to ear.
When I first started riding. I wish I knew that the stock Dunlop tyers on the bike were absolute crap.
They had zero grip on the first drop of rain, I had no confidence to put any lean in while cornering because of the countless slips I felt,
instead of waiting the 3+yrs & 15,000kms, I would have gotten rid of them much sooner
The first time riding with the new Michelin's the bike just felt like it was stuck to the road and have never felt that slip again.
Oh yeah, fe(male) Vloggers.

I’m 35, looking into my first bike!
That sometimes I will have to back it up and park it! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got me a HD sportster but FB only wants riders . I’m new and I’m learning alone . It would be nice to be able to speak to another woman . My first year . But whatever I don’t care. I will learn I will ride this summer
Thanks for the video. 🙂😎
Thanks for watching!
Is there a group that I can join I’m really interested in learning and buying a bike for myself I’ve never been on a motorcycle but I want to learn
I'm 51 and I'm looking into getting a bike now.
Awesome ladies Lets Ride
Ma'am you should also ask for indian women motovlogger , they have more challenges
So very well done!
do u know Mr Toni Stark ?
Beautiful influence by a pretty women!
On Wisconsin!
I like your t-shirt a lot! :)
New subbie! Love the channel!
Welcome Michele! 😊
Thank you for not scaring women away from getting into riding by playing the victimized so woman card. When most women TH-cam riders make a video about getting into bikes, they make it sound like everywhere you go the men are on the verge of attacking you. And look out if they give you an idea or suggestion on how to do something different. They are automatically doing it cause you happen to be a woman. My hats of to you for saying how accepting this community is. Male - female Dash sport bike Dash cruiser Dash short Dash tall it doesn’t matter everybody’s accepted
it's all a learning experience
Two years after the fact is about right on time with this ol' fart. I always fear I gave my daughters bad advice getting them onto motorcycles. Wrenching is one thing I seldom see in most vlogger channels. I raised my kids by myself so you can live in fear for them NOW! My children were in the mechanic shop and my wood shop learning and cussing and occasionally throwing wrenches. Ladies if I have an sound advice I'd still question it but I would like to see you become more independent and learn to do more than basic maintenance on YOUR BIKE. Being dependent upon any man with macho problems is going backwards.
The absolute best ride you can decide on for yourself is yours; do not do what people push you to do if it exceeds your comfort level. Push yourself and your skills as you want to.
If any person harasses you about any aspect, RUN! They are more than likely a beginner trying to impress.
Know that you are all Beautiful and that alone is not reason for men to hover, demand your space to stay safe and take a self defense course.
When my daughter broke down years ago and couldn't repair her HD Lowrider herself a "shop owner" that came to her rescue turned out to be dangerous. She had already called me and I was on my way from my home in Montana to where she was in southern Colorado. Being in the US Army hadn't trained her but when I arrived to get her from the police station, we had a fight to keep her from being charged for defending herself. If you ride long distance as I and my family does; keep your insurance at full coverage, don't drain your cell phone to get a picture, always let someone know where or about where you will be going. Don't be a victim but prepare for the worst and ENJOY the ride!
Much LLH&Respect!
You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
So cool 😎 ❤
Hi Megan, How You Doing? You are so Beautiful. I am following some of the women Riders that You mentioned. Thanks for the Video. Take care. Ride Safe.
wud b a better world if eeeerybody rode a bike!
Respect you darling 💪💪💪💪
I've been riding for most of my life. I'm not going to be PC and sit here and say that I'm thrilled about women riding motorcycles ... I'm not. I wish women didn't ride motorcycles because yes, it was always more of a masculine thing, still is. The worst thing that could have come to the motorcycle community is femininity regarding riding motorcycles, that's not the biker culture, never has been. So now we have women talking about their feelings about riding motorcycles ... are you kidding me?
With that said, do I condone people belittling women if they want to ride? No. Again, I'm not thrilled about it, don't expect me to be supportive of it, but I don't agree that if a woman wants to ride that she should be made fun of for it because that's not right.
But I hear women talk about this a lot about how they're disrespected because they ride motorcycles. Well, you know what ladies, you're just going to have to have some patience with the men, not the metro-sexual men that you ride with that support you, but more hardened men with coming to the reality that you're now on the road with us. Riding a motorcycle is something we do that has always been a symbol of our rebellious nature, our defiance from rule and structure. So to have it now being embraced by lipstick and lace ... well, ladies, you're just going to have to give us a minute with accepting that reality. And, you know, some day I might accept it, who knows. I don't believe I will, but ... who knows. I think if anything I just have to get used to it. But you ladies have to also realize that you're getting involved in a culture that demands individuality, ability, bravery. You step into this realm, you better be willing to take the criticism, because that's why men ride, we don't give a shxt about that criticism. That's why we ride, that defiance.
The thought of a woman riding a motorcycle repulses and disgusts me as it does a lot of the guys I ride with. To see a woman on the road riding, I can't describe how much it enrages most men bikers because it's like you're intruding in on our territory. And yes, it's been our territory for as long as I can remember. However, as much as it makes me sick to see a woman ride ... as much as I turn my head and ignore you in defiance, I will never make fun of you or belittle you, nor will I support that behavior. Only tiny small little boys do that. But that's also because I don't believe in disrespecting women, even though I don't approve with what you're doing. So if you're broken down on the side of the road, I'll help you. But if you wave at me and expect me to wave back, don't hold your breath. You just stepped on the football field and now you want to talk about your feelings because the other players don't like you on the field. Well ladies, learn the history with what you're getting involved with and maybe, just maybe you'll have some understanding why a lot of men riders find your presence in our riding world utterly distasteful.
All the best.
Bro women in other countries have been riding the same amount ..i dont get it
Ridiculous.
Aww. Your safe space has been violated.
Why would women riders care about your feelings?
I didn't know riding was different for women?
and never ride a bike you can't pick up
@MajorBirdeaux exactly
I LOVE YOU 🌹♥️♥️🇵🇰
♥️ u
One thing I would like women to do is learn how their bike works and how to maintain it rather than getting their husband/boyfriend to do the work. Bikes are pretty straightforward and modern bikes are very reliable but still need regular checks and maintenance.
That’s a pretty uncalled for comment tbh. I know a bunch of female riders (including myself) and we all do our own maintenance.
So you know there is. More than. White women that. Ride. Like black native Americans philapino, Mexican. And. We have garges. And don't look like men. We ride. Harleys
She lives in a white area and has white friends so that’s who she asked.
