Nott, Episode 10 or 11: "I don't know a lot about magic, but I know he has the potential to be very powerful, and I need him to be so he can save me."
Episode 97: Caleb is powerful enough to save Nott/Veth.

Sam: *coughs clay out if throat, now in regular high pitched voice* "did it work?"

Nott saying "No thanks" to the wine is such a subtle moment of amazing character work
I wasn’t sure how Sam would play as Nott after the transformation, but I feel like this was a very mature route. Her emotional arc has come to a very satisfying peak and for Sam to call curtains on her as a character for the time being feels appropriate. She’s one of my favorites, but I feel like this was a well justified choice. And he did it all dressed as a leprechaun, too. The Sam Riegel-ness of it all.
While I enjoyed a Goblin in the group, the character ark was second to none. Sam, the one who is the least "DnD" of them all is the one that encapsulates it the most.
I wonder if Sam planned the whole Brave thing, since Halflings have the Brave racial feature? To those who don't agree, Sam has long conned us before, he reads mechanics and builds off them in strange marvelous ways.
Given Nott the brave was an anagram for Veth brenatto, Sam planned most of nott's backstory from the start.
@@KindaErudite I guess I'm wondering at the order of operations? Was it like, "it's Nott the Brave, cause she's not brave cause the halfing racial ability, so what name can iake with Nott the Brave?"

I know this is old but her name was actually going to be Vix but he couldn't come up with a good anagram.

The first few times you watch Sam play a character, you can be forgiven for thinking that he's just the stereotypical comic relief character... but he plays funny characters correctly. He uses that comedy as contrast to leverage some of the most wholesome and tearjerking moments in any campaign. Here's to the appreciation of Sam Riegel.
Love that it felt like Sam tried a new voice and immediately regretted it.

The intro has already been updated. Twice, actually. In the newest one, when Nott runs down the alley, you can see Veth's face in the water for a brief moment. The ending where Matt has the book of characters also changes

Well he IS a Father. I'm fairly certain that and observing his wife is where all of that comes from.
@@ForeverDegenerate I know this is 7 months later, but I think Veth only resembles his master cinematographer wife Quyen Tran in the sense that she's a certified badass. Other than that, she's more like his own mother (from what I've seen of her), with smatterings of mom stereotypes and subversions for the lolz.
This probably isn't over. That crone's going to figure out something's wrong and we know what that means.
Considering Jester messaged the crone a couple episodes later... yeah that's going to bite them in the ass. Matt even had the look of her noticing something was off before Jester took off.

Sam purposefully taking a hit to his Con just to flavour the fact that Veth would be a bit more charasmatixc and confident is such a nice little point.
Veth was ultimately a little weaker than Nott was, yet it didn't matter when the reward is so high.

Caleb is so much a better person than he gives himself credit for. He saved this family and gave Veth a new lease on life after trauma took that life from her. The mighty nein may not be traditional heroes but what they did for Veth was heroic

He's playing as Veth now, unless Matt brings the old lady back and turns her back into a Goblin.

I've always wondered at what point after the ritual she put on clothes cause there's no way they did that and she came out fully clothed with braids and jewelry.
Imo there's three options: 1, they brought fitting clothes with and gave them to Veth when she got out of the tub (-pieces pile);
2, her clothes had been enchanted at some point to just fit her whenever so she did legit just wake up like that
Or, 3, she's just butt naked until she leaves with Yeza and no one blinks because they're in a high-class brothel anyway and this might as well happen

Goblin years are different so she was an adult. She’s not a child. Goblins are adults around 4 I think.

Nott is actually a halfling named Veth and shes 25 and married to Yeza.
She kissed Caleb one time but that doesn’t mean they’re in a relationship. She did have a crush on him way in the beginning but that passed. Their whole relationship is platonic.

This is the reason i LOVE and also HATE CR. Love: cus is a fun to watch as a show. Hate: cus every once in a while we get CR fans that wants an experience like this and come ruin games not only for them but other players, trying to lead the DM in to "Dramatic RP", some time the DM just kills them on the fist battle.
Thats the annoying thing, you dont need dramatic rp, you could just have a special voice for your character, thats all you have to do
Well, some players like the rp aspect of d&d more than the fights. It's about finding players/dms that are into the same as you.
Fairly new to actually playing, and I have found I enjoy the RP more than the combat in most situations. The battles are only really interesting when, say, we are pushed, but able to surpass. example, my party and I were in a witch’s hut, and the rogue touched something despite the wizard saying DONT. It activated a trap of a cauldron that could TPK us. We dented it a bit, but it kept eating the rogue, the Barbarian (who has 1 shot several encounters at this point, despite being level 1), and myself. I’m almost down at this point. But we all started to run, and the barb was eaten again. I froze up, and the wizard went and tried to help. I ended up snapping out of my stupor, AND GRAPPLED THE CAULDRON. This allowed the Barb to escape and help with the grapple. Then, I, with help, managed to flip the cauldron over in a pin to keep from it eatting anyone else. Managed to tie it up helpless, and the Barbarian was able to smash it (auto crit) so we could get what we came for. That was one of the combat encounters I actually enjoyed because I was actually able to do something, to help! But, I still enjoy the RP factor as well, and I’m glad my GM enjoys a good RP as well (even with innuendo jokes), and I’ve actually been invited to join an All Star RP gang for a new game. I’m honestly flattered because I’m the only new player in that group, while all the others have been in previous games the GM has ran (some of which have exploded for some reason, like a wish spell, others just with poor scheduling).
@@phobiawitch835 I find the parties im in want combat every session which makes it hard to do a lot of the social stuff because any time there isnt combat they go looking for some.
Don’t blame CR for people having unreasonable expectations. They’d do that anyway.
