  • A trip down memory lane to compare the relationships the devs have with their players in FFXIV vs. WoW.
Check out The Popoto Pub FFXIV Podcast I just launched here: • Popoto Pub FFXIV Podca...
Clips from Asmongold, Preach Gaming, ZeplaHQ, Jesse Cox, Larryzaur, FFXIV Live Letter, and various WoW Dev Q&A's. Give them all a follow!
P.S. I do truly hope that WoW can turn it around. I spent 16 years there and would like to feel good about playing it again, but in good conscience I can't support Activision Blizzard until they create a better work culture, start treating their employees with respect, and start listening to their players.

it is true that any company running a game must make a good profit from it. but FFXIV proves this is best achieved with happy customers who are happy to keep paying subs and spending money, rather than a revolving scam door.

you can tell yoshi is authentic, i mean just look at the world and writing of each game. the world that was created is coming from the minds of the creators, their inner world, what they see, experience, feel. ffxiv and eorzea is a product out of yoshi's vision/his fantasy, it matches what's going on in his mind.
you see something like wow, the poor writing, the systems made w/ $$ in mind and it's really a world that came from the mind of frat dudes who want to party.

Hey, it is refreshing that Yoshi and the devs address every issue and communicates with the players. Refreshing that they are not afraid to apologize and explain the problems so we can know what is going on. Refreshing that they respect the players. That the game has a story that is worth to fight your way through. That the early and mid-gameplay is as fun as the endgame content and thats all without the soulless grind.
WoW Devs are on a high horse, full of themselves for no reason anymore. The game became a grindfest. The story... let's... let's not even talk about WoW story anymore. They are systematically retconning the lore into a nonsensical mess just to fit the new bullsh*t in. And when the players rise their voices to show how unhappy we are with the direction this is going to.... we are just treated with more bullsh*t.
Sometimes it feels like WoW is getting torn to shreds on purpose. It is painful. Even when the entire community is yelling at them to change things because it will be a disaster on the long run, they just ignore it and run headfirst into the stonewall what everyone tried to warn them about.

Even IF a PR team told Yoshi-P to comment on Asmon's mother, or even IF a PR team told Yoshi-P to do research on the creators to seem more empathetic, it still shows that they care to address those things. To watch and learn, to give their condolences or appreciation. No PR team is forcing them to cry on stream about delaying the game. As we all know as well, the "correct" way of responding to errors and faults is to apologize and give a vague estimation of how things will be fixed. The FFXIV team instead gives detail into their process and massive free game time gifts to compensate for lost time. Ruthless execs and PR people wouldn't dare give such promises and lost money to anyone. But the FFXIV team does, because they know what it's like to be a player. I mean they literally play their game which you would think is a low bar to pass but you'd be surprised that it's not.
Love ya Yoshi-P and the team behind FFXIV.

You know as someone who has played wow for 15 years but hasn't played retail since the first month of shadowlands and has played up to part of shadowbringers but has taken an extended break but does own endwalker, this video has reaffirmed my hatred for ion hazzikostas and my love for yoshi-p.

Your question is interesting, give me a few to think on that.

Your question is dumb and a waste of our time. Next!

I don't know what they're teaching you kids in school these days but corporate America does not represent "American Values". You make it sound like overseas companies can do no wrong, but look at how Konami treats their employees... Again, corporations don't represent the values we share as a people, they're only in it for the money. As an American and a big fan of FFXIV, I have a lot of respect for Yoshi-P and the devs. You don't see that kindness and care much in the video games industry these days...

If you actually see the world tour, most of them who's invited are actually FFXIV long time creator. I think the reason they choose asmon and rich because they're new to the game and being a big streamer, it's a new perspective on interview in fact for new player experience on it.
