    I also use these packaging materials like stamps. I have dedicated storage for all my “irregular” (not bought, trash to most people 😊) stamps. My husband can’t believe I don’t throw these things out. Hoping you will show us your card creations using these backgrounds. Super fun! TFS

      Me too ladies! I can’t bear to throw out good useable trash. It makes such great designs. Wet wipes are also a great resource. I save the ones that I just use for wiping my hands or face. I then wash them in a laundry bag or pillow slip let them dry and keep them for my card making. Wet or dry they make some stunning patterns. Add ink directly to them and then press to card. If you wet them first the inks will bleed and blend into each other, you can get some great affects. So I add them to my trash box too. Happy crafting ladies. Hugs from Australia ❤️❤️🐨❤️❤️

    When you pulled the print from the "fishnet" product it reminded me of diamond plate you see on pickup running boards, tool boxes, etc. If done in silver it could made a great guy card. In my opinion, the cardboard looks so cool when used as a background for texture on cards or mixed media projects. It MIGHT look good if sprayed with fall colored paints (or leave plain) then die cut for fall leaves and/or trees. I'm betting you played crafts all day!!! I can't wait to see what you do for cards! These are GREAT creations for backgrounds, die cuts, borders, etc., etc., etc., TFS!

    NEVER throw away those thin foam packaging pieces. I used them a lot when I have a card with a lot of bulky embellishments to protect them until the card is delivered. I so much more enjoy doing this kind of creative play than putting together a card with a thousand little fiddly die cuts to put together. (They are really cute in the end, but yeah! This is way more fun! ) I wonder if it is because I was never very good at art growing up and feel like we were always trying for an end product. I didn’t learn to ‘play’ until I was retired. My daughter in love WAS an art major and gave me so much encouragement to just enjoy the moment. Thank you again!

    These were really cool backgrounds. The scrunched brown paper technique was a painting technique when I was a child. My granny’s bedrooms were painted that way.

  • @Kayenne54
    @Kayenne54 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    2:06 That "scrunched up brown paper" now makes a really great STAMP or *block print.* So more paper goes down, and stamp away using the acquired ink on the brown paper. In fact, anything you can "scrunch up" which wil hold its shape a little can become a block printer tool. (it actually becomes a "Three for One" situation lol). I've done this with some old cotton cloth. Mopped up with it, then decided to stamp the excess off onto new sheets of copy paper. Made heaps more than I expected.

    Natasha, yes, can so, so relate to seeing things that most considered trash as a craft supply or tool!! I’ve been saving various things for years! Enough that even my husband & daughter will save things for me -all while lovingly rolling their eyes & shaking their heads 🙄😊 - things like the little hangers on socks, the insides of used up correction tape, etc. Now you have given me a fresh new way to see these common packing materials!! The white foamy stuff you used at 9 minutes, I use it as a die cut layer: it gives dimension but not weight, so I attach it behind my card die cuts, especially if I'm raising a circle or square, when you can cut it a bit smaller, so the card appears to float.

    Gelli print hint - if you use tissue paper or a thin paper like (non-silicon) baking/grease proof paper, you can take the paint from between the holes in the net-like wrapping, which will allow more contrast between the background colour & the netting effect to show through. Works really well when printing leaves & petals & things too. Allows you to get into the spaces better than printer paper does. And of course makes a great collage paper or background in itself as you get the opposite effect from what’s on your gel plate

    I'm guilty of keeping packaging etc with this idea in mind, only not to reach for it as it's now out of sight.
    Thx for the reminder 😉
    You had gorgeous results.
    Tfs & take care 🌺

    Ces idées sont très intéressantes pour recycler et avec de super rendus!👍
    J'adore le rendu avec l'arc en ciel et le papier-bulle 😍
    Thank you very much Natacha 😘

    Hi Natasha. An amazing video. I love the purple and blue background made with the scrunched brown paper as well as the bubble wrap rainbow backgrounds. I love the texture the packaging foam provides. I loved the look of that "netting" paper but must say the prints of it freaks me out because it looks like a snake skin texture. I'm looking forward to seeing your card creations made with all of these backgrounds. TFS. 💙🤗

    Thanks Natasha. They are lovely. Could you do a video using some of the backgrounds please? My creative processes get stumped after I make all these things. Thank you.

    These are awesome Tash! I can't pick a favorite either. I have saved all that packaging in my mixed media drawer so I'm going to have some fun. Thanks for the inspiration!
