You can put the tip of a pencil or pen in the apex of the triangle above the type guide and roll the platen up or down to get a perfect vertical line on the paper. Or with the carriage all the way to the left then push the carriage right to make a perfect horizontal line on the paper.
My 1937 Corona Standard must’ve lived most of its life in the box because the keys are straight and white. The decals are nearly perfect. It’s the base model. I think the higher models had the paper bail, the fingers aren’t ideal. It does not have the “Floating Shift” logo on the basket but it has script “Floating” with print ”Shift” on the key. I’ve seen later flat tops with Floating Shift on the basket like your streamlined version.

Yes. That's neat isn't it.

Neat!
I have a 1936 in maroon. It's gorgeous.
Thank you for making the video.
Hey mate do you have any videos of reinstalling the platen on this model?
Afraid I don't but try Phoenix Typewriter on TH-cam - Duane has many helpful repair videos
Thanks great video, I have one of these patiently waiting in the to be refurbished pile. Great information!
Great video and very nice machine. The quote is my favorite part! How did you get the mechanism so clean underneath? Springs sing when they are clean.
Thanks! Lots and lots of compressed air, lacquer thinner, mineral spirits and elbow grease :)
