Steam cleaner will work well and can blow out areas that you can't reach without further disassembly. Brake cleaner will work great on oil based grime on the inside of the typewriter, just be sure to use it outside.
@JustMyTypewriter I'll try getting a hold of that. I'm not familiar with the product of mineral spirits, not being from the US, can you describe what it is?
@ it’s a lacquer thinner - others have also used lighter fluid. They are products that attach to the dust and allow for you to flush it out of the metal components
@@JustMyTypewriter thanks so much 😊 gotta say I'm incredibly impressed that you respond so quickly! Thank you. I really appreciate it, and thanks for all the great content.
Nice. And efficient; you manage to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. Quick question regarding Simple Green: generally, on typewriters, do you prefer full-strength or diluted? Thanks.
Effectiveness as a weapon should always be part of any product test.
I agree!
“Weight is sign of reliability. If does not work, you can always hit him with it…” I loved this little cleaning sampler video. Thank you!
"...machines that I am not supposed to be buying... I know that thought only too well...
My name is Dave, and I approve of this video.
I ❤ Dave too!

Simple Green is the go to. I have a 50/50 SG/water for general cleaning and a 100% bottle for grease.
We always enjoy watching your videos 😊
Looks like you got the return advancing ok. Well done!
I've noticed my typebars get slower after I've cleaned it. At first I had 1-2 typebars that got stuck at the ribbon, now it's a lot.
@@Kasino80 sounds like the dust got further in- you may want to try mineral spirits and compressed air to flush out the type bar basket

Is that a new Barbie typewriter I see in the background? 👀
MAYBE

I tend to use full strength
Me too!! 2:15🪥🪥🪥
How does the air duster compare to canned air that they sell in office supply stores
?
Definitely more sustainable and roughly the same power level
@@JustMyTypewriter great, that's what I need to hear!
I was looking for a video like this and I am glad I found yours. Thank you for this one!
Could you consider talking a bit slower in future, please?
I'll work on that!
There should be a playback speed option for you to play the video at .75 speed (or slower), to suit your needs.
@@spencerhoffman4836 you can adjust playback speed on youtube
What is the best typewriter for 10 year old?
I recommend a SCM 5 series machine like a clipper or sterling
Awesome can be diluted and for many case-uses should be diluted.
You look like my ex wife…!
