    cool seeing your son’s skills grow! I’m curious what his perspective is of the film industry and where he thinks it’s going, growing up around you, and now working with you.

    I enjoy photography as an add on to the contract. assignable m button shutter trigger from the rs3 pro gimbal when in photo mode makes it convenient

    You mentioned this in past videos but what’s your trick for daisy chaining the Pelican cases (and connecting the handles) when in airports?

    I'd say take the photo gigs if you have the time! My experience lighting photography sets transfers over to video lighting. I think your experience lighting video will help with photo work.

    Just a comment on one of your previous videos. You'd make a great producer. You already ARE a producer. So if your back really gives out I don't see how you wouldn't be successful in that role. Indeed, I'd say these aren't vides about cameras, lights, mics, etc. They're really videos about the real word of production. I know, anyone can produce. Not everyone can operate a camera. Still... If your back says your journey ends with becoming a producer, be a producer ;)

      @@CrankyCameraman You might be already on your way with your son. When he moves on I expect you'll hire someone else. And then there you are. No big decision. It just happened naturally.

    Love the idea of the molus light without having the power brick to keep track of. I have several godox lights that have the power bricks and cord with the smallish light head, and so cable management is always a pain.

      Packs up much smaller too, wish it shipped with a case.

      @@CrankyCameraman One other note, I got the Sirui Saturn 35mm FF anamorphic last year and really enjoy it. I got it for pretty cheap on L mount but I think it comes Sony as well. Easily my favorite lens to shoot, the one drawback for me is the pincushion. I shoot mostly real estate and the distortion can be really noticeable in certain rooms. With that caveat, it has been a good value for me. I do like the look and the colors are nicely rendered. I got the neutral flare version.

      Only thing I'll say about the molus, if you are using it for interviews it is loud anything over 80% I believe. So that's why I would not get it but if you aren't shooting interviews or shooting the light from outside most of time then it's cool

    I'm careful when I do photo pass through. Where I'm at a lot of commercial photographers also do 'motion'. I don't really have a scarcity mindset but do thing that they would not return the passthrough back to me. Sometimes I just book them myself and also have them throw in some BTS for me while accomplishing the client goals and then I also direct the stills action as well. I feel like that's a better clients experience and then we also aren't switching between constant lights and stobes.

      I also do full scope of work with video, not just production. Creative to publishing, but most of the time am working with in-house marketing or agency who handle all non-video aspects of marketing.

    2:32 as someone in the Sony ecosystem, headshot jobs are great even the A7SIII or FX3 is good enough set it to photo RAW mode and 12MP then shoot off JPEG 100% quality files by end of day, the demands are very low less then 1 minute per subject in most cases.

      Time in business, repeat work for individuals... Work for someone, they are happy, they move to a new company and hire me. Then new company people are happy, someone moves on and books me at their new company.

    I have the Blazar Remus 1.5x Ana glass PL in Blue flare and Open gate on Red Gemini and other large S35 4perf height sensors they look great... I get that they cover FF but they look best on my Gemini vs my R5- just talking about the glass not the IQ- I have the 40mm the 85mm and the 100mm I would like the 33mm still.

    • @CrankyCameraman
      @CrankyCameraman  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm thinking of starting with the 50mm and 33mm 1.5x silver. But if there is a open gate update for the Burano, then I buy the new 2x lenses. I have two projects pending next year I want to shoot Burano / Anamorphic.

    Great tip on the two person interview lighting with an angled grid 🫡. Any tips for avoiding talent getting up quickly after a long interview and hitting their head on the boom ?

    • @robinprobyn1971
      @robinprobyn1971 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      haha , you just have to anticipate it and give them a shout or swing the boom ! its going to happen 90% of the time. For 2 person interviews I always like to have the taller person ,closest to the edge of frame , when their eye line is to an interviewer and not down the barrel. Seems to balance it out better .

    • @CrankyCameraman
      @CrankyCameraman  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good tip. And the person that talks more on the open side of frame.
