Thanks for all your tips. As a longtime sculptor, I have learned the hard way to wear a mask and having good ventilation when sanding the finished object. The tiny clay particles can be very dangerous when inhaled.

Just starting out experimenting with air dry clay. Thankyou for some great tips, they seem quite obvious but in reality I wouldn't have thought about them...I am very much a "get stuck in and think it out later" kind of person 😅 look forward to seeing more of your videos x
Thank you for your fabulous instructions and inspiration. I love to throw my dressing gown on when traveling around Australia during winter. People look at me when in MacDonald's or rest stop cafes at 5 am in my dressing gown. So I typed into TH-cam " turn my dressing gown into a bohemian jacket." That's how I found you. That's a blessing. So I'm sending you a Distance Reiki blessing. Breathe deep and catch it. Xxxx❤❤❤
So happy I found your channel. I am a first time air dry clay user. My grandson told me for his dad's birthday he loves dragons. Yeah, I chose the hardest thing to start with. After researching for over a week, the dragon eye is attached to the top of mix media wooden box covered in black gesso. Now I must paint. The clay has dried for 3 days. DAS is the clay i used. Do I prime with gesso first? Black or white? Colors of acrylic paint are red, his favorite color and the rest I will wing it. I have watched many of your videos and you are a true artist ❤
So helpful, I'm just getting into airdry clay projects - finsihed a trinket dish and ring holders this week woohoo! This video is really useful - thanks so much!
Found this video while looking for foam clay stuff. Good inspirational video! Never would have looked for this, glad I found it! The scratched, slip joint was a revelation, unlocked a mystery. Thanks!
I haven't tried using clay yet, but that will be next on My Craft list to do. Your video was very helpful and your projects 😊 that you've done evidently are really really pretty!
Thank you so much for such a detailed video with concise, useful tips, and your highly encouraging approach! Appreciate! I used to use the Jovi white POP to make cute things when I was younger but never with all the ‘technique’! Interested to clay-play now as an older person and use these tips! I’ve gotten some kiddie-style coloured air-dry clay to try, first. Lessee what happens! Have a nice day! 💓
This is very helpful, I always wanna try new things, but quickly give up. I took a 2 month break cause of my mental health, and is soon starting to try Air dry clay again. I’ve learned a lot from my past mistakes even though I only did it twice and failed. This gave me the confidence to try again :)
i was so sad cuz i think i cannot to my favorite university to study sculpture but when i played your video and you said i hope you are having a great day with this beautiful smile i forgot about the whole thing and thank you so much
I’d like to know which air dry clays are carvable. I worked with regular earth clays that have to be fired, and they carve very well. I know some of the air dry clays have particles in them that makes them unsuitable for carving.
Does someone have any tips/methods for drying clay products? (I usually make small and flat ones) I have a small apartment and trying to fit with my creating into some corner, so I find drying process which I think should last 1-4 days troublesome. The air in my flat is dusty too, so I'm afraid of letting clay products collecting dust while they're lying and drying. Do you hide your project for dry in cabinets (I think it's too low air flow)? Do you cover it with something? Should I turn them over other side? Is there a good or bad surface for drying clay?
Seems like a good place to ask - how to avoid the finished project feeling sticky? Is it normal to have some degree of "stickiness"? I bought a lot of beginner's products and I don't even know what to change: clay (Das), varnish (Allony) or paints (acrylic, Inklab). Does anyone have any advice on that?
Hi. I see you have a clay pot in the end of your vid that has the natural look. How do you finish air dry clay that you want to maintain a more 'natural clay' look? I tried some matte sealants, acrylic mostly, and they still leave a bit of a low sheen to me, which is not desired when I want my clay to have that authentic/ earthenware/fired clay non-glazed look. When I just paint them to attain that, with no sealant, they paint always gets a chip or two fairly easily.
I totally get that struggle. The most matte sealant that I’ve tried is deco arts dura clear ultra matte varnish. Make sure it’s the ultra matte and not the regular matte. It does have the tiniest sheen to it, but far less than any other matte sealer that I’ve tried. It’s the only one that I will ever use now.
@@IvettDIY Awesome! Thanks for that. One thing I recently discovered that I tried out just today was nail polish remover. I gently wiped one of my items that I sealed last week with acrylic sealant. And while it took some sheen away, I'm wondering, won't that just dissolve the acrylic varnish altogether? I just dabbed it enough to dull the shine. Hoping I didn't rub it all off. Lol. I'll have to see how it impacts the paint, though, in the long run. So far, it looks fine. Thanks again!
Das is good for making coasters. Although it would dissolve if wet. You would have to find a sealer that is waterproof. I know some people use resin to make their clay waterproof, but I’ve never done it.
Have you tried DAS clay? Because everyone loves it but i dont think its that suitable for me. Do you have any good clays that is like stiff enough? I am not a beginner anymore so 😅
Thanks for all your tips. As a longtime sculptor, I have learned the hard way to wear a mask and having good ventilation when sanding the finished object. The tiny clay particles can be very dangerous when inhaled.

To me, air dry clay is much easier to work with than polymer clay. Excellent tips! LOVE air dry clay so much!
Its also good to experiment a lot. I find that when i dont know if i can do something, just experiment! You never know what you can do until you try.

Straight to the point thanks so much for the pointers on the best clay to work with. The crayola definitely cracks and is sticky when wet.
This was a very helpful and actually perfect for a beginner. Informative but not overwhelming, the perfect amount of info to help me get started.

Can we use clear nail polish for sealing?
A stiff tooth brush works for scoring - especially for kids.

Thanks for the tips!! Wondering if you can do some review/project with Hearty clay? I’ve been loving it but it seems to not be popular 😅
I will definitely do a project with hearty clay sometime soon! 😊

Love your helpful videos. Can air dried clay be used in a pasta maker or one used for polymer clay?
Thank you! :)
I don’t see why not. I’ve never tried it, but I think it should work. There’s no harm in trying it out 😊
You can, however air dry clay is not food safe, so you may want a designated clay pasta one and another for food.
Thanks!
Thank you!! 💖💖💖
Great tips thanks
Thank you for these tips! I have a question, does Das creates a good coaster? Does it melt when it's soaked up with water?

What about Premium European Air Dry Modeling Clay White 2.2 lb Bar?
How do i reseal the clay packet after ive taken the amount i need for my project?
I close it tightly in its original package and then wrap it in plastic wrap

how to store unused clay? Thanks
I keep it in its original container or bag and then seal it tightly with plastic wrap around it. Just make sure that there are no air bubbles.

how should i store my unused clay?
I keep mine in the original packaging and then wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it sealed tight so that it doesn't dry out

Thank you so much! Watch out with the incense though, it can be just as harmful as smoking.
Thanks for the heads up, I did not know that. But now that I think about it that makes sense so I will definitely cut back a lot 💖
