Joined the Karate Dojo when I was 54 because I couldn’t afford physio for dodgy knees .the message from Sensei Ady - apart from “Hold your head up!” - was “do what works for your body”. I’ve now delayed knee surgery for 10 years and still kicking at Chi Rei Kai. Black Belt mindset still pulling me on. It is an honour to have belonged to your dojos physically and online. It is a privilege to be trained in self mastery on my own path by you both. And seeing my trophy on the shelf behind your heads? Still brings tears to my eyes at the - once - impossible conquered. Thank you for making karate one of the best parts of me.

hello, You might not see his but. I have absolutly no way of attending an in person dojo and have no one to train with but myself. Is it still possible to learn karate online or through book to improve? I know I most likely will not be able to get anywhere near black belt level but still I want to learn Karate, as for the style probably shotokan as it is more focus on kata then kumite which I don’t have a partner for. I have a really nice home gym with equipment to train, and I can buy more if needed. I just wanted a properly trained karateka’s opinion on whether it would be worth while to training Karate alone and if so what some of the best ways to do so are, whether that’s an online course, TH-cam, or if there is a book that can teach me?
As you know it’s not ideal but I’m sure you can learn a few things from videos etc, try to get a few books that give the names and pictures of each technique and then search for those names on TH-cam for tutorials. You will be missing a few things by not having someone guide you and correct you etc but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn some things.

This is a lovely interview with so much truth, love for Karate and deep understanding of martial arts in it! Thank you guys! ❤🥋
Great conversation. So much sense spoken!
3 weeks to late John. I was visiting from Australia and spent 2 weeks with family in Ripon. Had I known, I would have dropped into the Dojo.

Makes me want to try karate. I’ve been in Taekwondo for a couple of years.
👍 Grate video!
When are the details going to be shared about this seminar? I wouldn’t mind attending, I’m only in West Yorkshire
Very soon, are you on instagram? It’s easier to post things like that there than it is here, I post my seminars etc over there
