One could say that Terry getting into Street Fighter is like a long-lost son coming back to his estranged home and bringing a friend.
The funny part about it is that most Nintendo fans didn't even care about Terry or King of fighters until after they put him in super smash Brothers

Smash is an All Star game. Street Fighter never was, so there is a difference. But I don't mind Terry and Mai are cool.

Honestly, when i think back to arcades, and fighting games, Terry Bogard stood out to me the most as the Good Guy you could count on. I still consider him my favorite fighter in any fighting game.
I agree, Fatal Fury was great overall, but Terry is how you do a hero yeah. Not the loner like Ryu, not wild like Ken, but a focused and energetic fighter, that is even a role model and raises his enemy son to be a great man as well.
@@Atrahasis7 exactly, he is the quintessential hero that just keeps delivering the goods. That's what almost any fighter from any other game lacks, absolute indomitable will to do what's right.

I feel like it's ok because Street Fighter (or perhaps Capcom fighters in general) and SNK fighters feel like close relatives, like two brothers who grew up together. They influenced each other so much they would not be the same without each other. I think they share the same fan base as well.

Two reasons:
1) Terry and Mai take up two spots in this seasons DLC, so that means two less SF characters to return this year.
2) Some people don't like guest characters as they don't want their favourite game turning into Fortnite.

@@superspecky4eyes nah, the biggest one is the fall from grace. No one batted an eye for Tekken 7s guest appearances because things were looking up. Everyone had a new game at the time. KOF and SNK's death is something thats been tossed around for years. This is one of the very few concrete things that actually look like a wave of the surrender flag

Well the Terry from Mark of The Wolves and City of the Wolves definitely isn't. It just that it's his more iconic traits.
To be fair, my guess is that Terry and Mai appear with their Fatal Fury 2 look in the trailer because they're their most iconic looks and it also makes sense considering is their first appearance in SF. Giving them new looks like the rest of the SF6 cast would have confused some people a bit

I actually became aware of Terry from the Fatal Fury anime. I ended up playing KOF later.

Ultimate, or Fall Guys, and let’s not forget: Terry and other SNK characters have been duking it out with Street Fighter characters since Capcom vs. SNK. Terry Bogard is my favorite fighting game character. And to see him in street fighter 6 is truely a dream come true... and we also got Mai Shiranui... not complaining.

Just because companies may have a crossover or 2 that doesn't mean it is a completely symbiotic relationship.
Capcom has their original and sequel, while SNK just has THEIR original. So if Capcom produces, develops and publishes it; it would be THEIR 3rd.

I understand you used to be a teacher. Well sir, I dare say you are STILL a teacher, as you are always educating your fans on the amazing history of video games. I can’t imagine how hard you both work in research and presentation. I applaud you on your success and on the quality of your work, and I thank you for everything you give us, your fans.
This game (collection) is SO important, and I am grateful both Capcom and Marvel/Disney, have “woke” up to the fact that this is what we want; great games at a great price. Your coverage of everything even remotely related to Street Fighter is GOLD! I cannot get enough of what you provide. I even think Disney and Capcom should be paying you for these videos. It’s free advertising for them and you should be compensated.
As for me, I will be supporting you and Lady Decade for all of my upcoming digital purchases. Now, I am all about owning my games physically. 90% of my games are carts or discs. However, there are those exceptions if something is only available digitally, or if it nearly impossible to afford. I want to support the both of you in any and every way. You deserve it.

I am completely against guests in Street Fighter. But.... If it had to happen, I'm glad it's Terry and Mai. I love SNK and if this paved the way for CvS3 then I'm here for it.
It says alot that Capcom would choose SNK characters to have the first 3rd party guest characters in Street Fighter.
I'm against SNK characters as guests because honestly they should put more effort in, you know, making their own games. Guest characters just aren't interesting anymore.
@@KKHell That doesn't make any sense, this isn't taking away tike and effort away from SNK. Capcom is the one incorporating the characters into SF6. SNK is hard at work on City of the Wolves and season 3 of King of Fighters.

Wait, a minute. I remember being in High School at the time and reading a manga with the Fatal Fury team beating Kyo's team. I couldn't read Japanese at the time, but I remember Joe beating the other two members, Kyo defeating Joe with two kicks before beating Andy with one super move. Then Kyo and Terry fought, and Terry won with a power geyser. Kyo was left unconscious and when he woke up Terry was there, they spoke about something, and then Kyo moved on. I don't know what was said (man I wish I could read Japanese at the time).
I remember this because this was a big thing. Terry was my favorite character and Kyo was my brother's and we always debated who would win and that manga solidified my argument, although my brother did point out it was Kyo that moved on. We didn't know why, but we figured it was either a technicality or Terry just forfeited.

I was a little bummed out at first because everyone asked for a Capcom vs. SNK 3,
not a couple of one-and-done guest stars of Street Fighter 6 which are Terry and Mai.
I think the fact Street Fighter, Tekken, and Fatal Fury / Garou all share canon now, and the fact we've been getting teases of a three-way crossover in Tekken 7 and Smash Ultimate, means the "CvS3" we all want is gonna include Bamco as well.

SF6 seasons were slow enough already. Now half of them aren't even gonna be SF characters...
I hope they give the "Snowy Heron Dance" to Mai, love it.
Point is regardless of how people like it or don’t like it. It’ll sell and potentially increase sales because it’ll bring fans from the other franchise. Plus with how things are now at days crossovers are a big thing. I never minded whenever it happened and even if people do.. it doesn’t matter because it’s happening one way or another despite one’s personal feelings.
When I was playing King of fighters 14 in the video game lounge I will play that game almost every day for two straight weeks I asked people did you want to play with me and they said no but the minute when Terry got announced as a DLC character for smash Brothers all of a sudden everybody wants to play King of fighters posers
I think if it was just isolated as terry being a character it's a good thing. However, there's probably some legal contract that'll make things complicated in the future for distribution, re releases, etc...

Even if they were paid a bunch, Capcom is right in adding Terry and Mai. If you know ANYTHING about the history of SF and Fatal Fury, or about SNK and Capcom staff in the 80s-90s, this is a historically significant event and warrented.
For context, this is like if the first Tekken guest character was in Tekken 8 and the first guest ever was a Virtua Fighter character.

That move is less weird when you consider that moment when Akuma entered the Iron Fist Tournament a.k.a. Tekken. It has become a move to be made, having characters from one franchise now crossing over to another franchise however of the same genre. But I don't know.

To me, his fit in the debut game reminds me of James Dean, more specifically from the film "Rebel Without A Cause" albeit no hat, gloves, and different shoes. He was already a big American icon for decades prior, even gaining traction in Japan. This is in regards to the statement said in 5:53. Overall pretty great vid

33:35 Speaking of box art, why on Earth were the cover characters for CVS2 Kyosuke and Kim Kaphwan (along with Maki and Sagat) in the US? Practically every version of the game had fantastic box art, while the US PS2 version's looked like they got someone to make it 10 minutes before everyone went out to lunch.
The Fatal Fury anime OVAs and movie were really good. Should definitely checks those out if you haven't seen them yet.
What matters is that Terry is a great and beloved character, and so does Mai. It's a win-win for Street Fighter.

Terry was a direct result of the original SF creator wanting Joe as the lead and not Ryu. He left and went to SNK where he made Terry. It's destiny and I slowly started to realize that's what the video is about as I typed lol
