You’re right though about vintage stuff, I had most of the Roland XOX boxes, although they weren’t cheap (303 around £400 if memory serves) they were certainly affordable. Best buy was a midi specced Jupiter 8 for £800 + Mackie LM3204 😀
This device is so cool and is the perfect companion for other modular and semi-modular Synths. Great value, so much of Sound (Engines) and functionality for such a competitive price. Deluxe!!!
Absolutely getting this and the Spice when it comes out to pair with the Crave and my 2 Edges. The Syncussion unit also plays fantastically well with the 2 edges. So excited for when I grab this.

it's nice to see they've made a keyboardless microfreak 5 years after it was released.... ehh... call me a cynic or whatever and i'll even admit this is a cool looking and sounding synth, but it doesn't exactly feel any more innovative than the swing keyboard if im being really brutally honest >.
A desktop plaits inspired synthesizer. Built upon by your expansion into eurorack modules and Moog cloned tabletops. I actually appreciate the creativity on this one! ✌️
I love brains. I was thinking about getting another one. But a grind sounds like a better choice since it won't take up room in my rack. Brains as a stand alone synth is a great idea.

Two things I didn't hear mentioned were voice count and sequencer length. Based on the crave etc I'm guessing mono and 32 iirc...so that's worth taking into account. For me this could make an interesting bass machine with those specs, but I like some polyphony for most other things.
I'll definitely be waiting for this one. Can't wait to see a full demo of all the engines. I wonder if the FM engine could scratch my itch for the Yamaha DX200. I've wanted one for a while, but - hopefully - the FM and knobs on this could give me similar results.

@@rybakarol GRIND is really nice, but it doesn't replace a Crave, it depends what you want, Crave has a really beefy Oscillator, but GRIND has a wider palette of sounds plus drums it can do. And if you have a Microfreak already Crave would seem in my opinion a more logical choice.

Nice surprise, looks pretty cool ! Ideally they would have swapped the ladder filter to a different one aswel like a diode ladder, OTA or CEM for variation as the crave and the edge have the same vcf. Or even better a digital one with different modes just like the oscillator..
I am so here for it. My Crave/Edge combo is my favourite setup for live jamming so far (still waiting for the Spice though) but the single analog VCO of the Crave always felt a bit boring and I had considered to invest in a small Eurorack case, psu and fancy multi-VCO combo to complement it. But given the prices for everything Eurorack and the limited space in my travel case I would absolutely trade in my Crave for this Grind.
Love this - only wish was that you had put your IR3109 filter in instead of the ladder. The bass deserves to THUMP! Love when you guys do novel things!
Very nice addition to the Behringer line up but don’t hold your breath to get one any time soon. The Spice was announced in May of 2023 and it’s still not even available yet for Pre Order. That’s over 16 months.
Cool addition to a cool series. Very nice demo! And the fact that NO patch cords were used shows the huge sound capabilities this little box must have - awesome! BUT, I'd wish the MOD LFO SHAPE had a S/H setting too for those random blipper notes :P

For years I was stuck using ripped sounds from .MOD .IT and .XM files I got from dial up BBS's back in 93. These kids got the keys to the kingdom!

Considering Plaits is almost everyones recommendation for a first module this is a pretty smart idea.

The oscillator models are taken from Plaits, a eurorack module from 2018. Plus a DX7 model.

This could have really benefited from a Polivoks style multi-mode filter. Most everyone has ladderfilter-something in their sonic arsenal already.
