It depends when you use it , and at the moment it starts and finishes nowhere , it'll soon terminate in carrigtohill and glanmire shortterm, cork city medium term , and midleton / youghal longer term , hopefully eventually connecting up to the waterford greenway in dungarvan ..
you still have to cycle on main roads from cork to get to this which then ultimately goes no were atm plus due to the before mentioned roads from cork its not suited for kids yet anyway.
@@MOSSFEEN one day during the summer i was going about my business with a laden trailer on a country road when i caught up with a group of leisure cyclists trundling along at 30 kph. I couldnt overtake so i had to stay behind them. Another truck caught up with me and a few cars came up behind that. The whole line of us had to change down and putter along for a full mile until a suitable overtaking opportunity. I calculate the aggregate fuel consumption at four mpg. So please keep leisure cyclists away from public roads
@@daneenmurf1043 ust think of all the fuel you saved and how much safer the roads were! If your vehicle does 4mpg then scrap it immediately or give it to Ukraine as it must be a tank.
@@jocosson8892A vehicle in low gear uses extra fuel to cover a given distance compared to travelling the same distance in high gear. Multiply the extra fuel by the number of vehicles. In the example i gave above it would have been more environmentally friendly for the cyclists to travel by car !
@@r1crawford it is alongside a dual carriageway. Not a good place to cycle, nothing of value to visit along that section either. This section could have been made away from the roadway or be served by rail transit
@@r1crawford All I am saying is putting it along a main road is not a good way to do infrastructure and not many people will do a 2 hour 40 minute commute twice a day so RAIL TRANSIT would be a good investment for that journey. There is an idea that this should be prioritized for leisure but given that we need to decarbonise now the priority should be making the cities safe and cycle friendly and this kind of thing that may only be used for leisure is not going to touch emissions either in the short or long term and meanwhile you will fill cyclists lungs with even more road fumes. I am sure that you are not really arguing with me that the cycle path SHOULD be put along side a DUEL CARRIAGEWAY or is that the argument that you want to make?
@@r1crawford If decarbonisation is by electric cars you better give up your city as it will just be parking and get ready to fund every family to the tune of 40,000 Euros as electric cars are not at all cheap! as teenagers we used cycle from Mayfield to ballycotton to go fishing, the cycle back was always horrendous

Cycleways are a great idea because they keep cyclists off normal human roads

Whilst it is excellent for cycling commuters it is hardly attractive to the recreational cyclist to be cycling parallel to main roads....
come cycle next to a motorway even though there are no shops or houses on that route!
