I cant tell ya how much i miss this show. I loved watching this when i was young and im happy that its still able to be seen on the internet. Great show and always done with great respect for the audience and the animals.
I love how experienced, and genuinely interested in boars this man is! The way he moves through the woods, scampering up trees to avoid the charges, and locating the nest were all impressive skills that only a master outdoor enthusiast could hope to learn.
Grew up watching Marty as a gen xer. He was dead on accurate about how wildlife should be managed way back then. Too bad nobody of great impact listened. He’s one of the reasons I pursued a natural resource profession as an adult. Thanks Marty
Marty doesn’t believe in hunting. What people like him don’t realize is that hunters pay to the wild lands open for everyone else. Hunting is the best conservation tool that we have ! In Michigan the state tried to get none hunters to help pay their share. No way was that going to happen.
The government should not charge us to “give permission” to do something we have the right to do without license. It is exactly this argument that keeps hunters under the thumb of the government with tags and bag limits. It’s madness.
I remember in Africa they were so worried about elephants and didn't allow culling. It ended up there were so many that the land couldn't feed them all and large amounts were starving to death. A far worse death.
I never knew he was against hunting, it's hard to believe someone that connected to nature and how the natural order of everything works wouldn't understand the necessity of hunters in the modern world. I really don't think he would have invited hunters, especially hog doggers to be filmed on his show if he had a problem with it, he didn't say anything negative about the hunters.
"Rooting" is the process of digging in the ground with the snout. It's also used, more figuratively, for haphazard digging in general (e.g. "rooting through the trash"). The two terms ("rooting" and "uprooting") share the same origin - as "rooting" is digging for roots and "uprooting" is removing a plant from the ground, roots and all. However, "rooting" has taken on a broader context, and includes any foraging/digging behaviour of this sort - whether for food, water, to create a wallow, etc. Of course, a pig could go rooting through the soil, uprooting plants as it goes... :)
The map of the spread of hog is VERY OLD! A lot more hogs out there. Virtually all the southern states have hogs. Oklahoma has around 1 million. Kansas has maybe less than 2 thousand. Missouri has anywhere from 50k-150k hogs. There are even feral hogs in Canada!
Glad to see how many others love this show as much as me!
I keep this show playing in the background of my house. It’s my personal underscore. Wild America, Bonanza, Rifleman and Daniel Boone are all I need🧌

Ditto !
Probably want to take guns away
Wow... here's a golden oldie. I remember watching these premiere..... And we're STILL wrestling with wild hogs 40 years later.
There is a corner of youtube, without all the anger, drama, and negativity. It is here on Wild America. Thank you guys

I’ve prepared wild hog next to domestic hog and challenged people to tell the difference and the results are always the same. They can’t.
As a kid, this was my salvation to the woods of America 🇺🇸
The show that got me hooked on nature programs
I feel bad, please try my program
Such an iconic intro
Yeah I remember watching that back in the 80s he climbed a tree I remember that part
Hunted many wild hogs over the years. All fun and all tasted great.

Great episode amazing and informative, who else agree?
Hunting is a young mans sport
This guy is nuts! Picking up a wild sows piglets is one good way to meet an early grave!
My dad and I used to go near the river with our dogs and catch them alive!! Dangerous so much fun and excitement!!❤
When I was a kid Marty looked old to me now I’m 40 and he looks young 😢
46 myself and I remember my dad loved this show. Watching it back in the day in front of the ole RCA floor model tv.
Marty, Mark and Marshall are three cool dudes
Pigs can handle diesel soaked grain without dying! That is how we make sure to attract pigs only.

He doesn't have to believe in hunting, it's not a religion - it's how food gets put on the table.

Yep, Marty is a complete MORON!!!😂 BUT, he did film some great stuff to make us Hunters more efficient killers!!!😂😅
U know who else is not native to this country?? YOU sir....
Those hunters needed a catch dog, those hounds are not built to hold a hog.
Wow! I like that aggressive boar!
Wild hogs still taste very good.
Them ribs on a bbq pit...fall off the bone good!
Absolutely 💯
Funny video
🙂
Mmmmmm... wild bacon.
With the wild boar, wild nature is more attractive!
Can they eat the hogs? Pardon my ignorance.
Sometimes, wild hogs do carry diseases that can be transmitted to humans. So caution should be taken, but they are usually quite edible.
Very informative...just one correction..the speaker should say "uprooting " instead of "rooting "since plants are being dislodged from the soil.
