@lamaspacos, nope, there are only thirty valid extant orders of birds: Tinamiformes (Tinamous), Struthioniformes (Ostriches), Rheiformes (Rheas), Casuariiformes (Cassowaries and Emu), Apterygiformes (Kiwis), Opisthocomiformes (Hoatzin), Falconiformes (Birds of Prey), Galliformes (Gamebirds), Anseriformes (Waterfowl), Gruiformes (Cranes, Rails, and Relatives), Charadriiformes (Shorebirds), Ciconiiformes (Storks, Herons, Egrets, Bitterns, Ibises, and Spoonbills), Pelecaniformes (Pelicans, Cormorants, Shags, Darters, Frigatebirds, Boobies, Gannets, Burungebom, Tropicbirds, Shoebill, Hamerkop, Sunbittern, and Kagu), Procellariiformes (Tubenoses), Podicipediformes (Grebes), Gaviiformes (Loons), Phoenicopteriformes (Flamingos), Sphenisciformes (Penguins), Pteroclidiformes (Sandgrouse), Columbiformes (Pigeons and Doves), Cuculiformes (Cuckoos, Turacos, Bustards, and Mesites), Carpimulgiformes (Nightjars, Frogmouths, Potoos, and Relatives), Apodiformes (Swifts and Hummingbirds), Strigiformes (Owls), Trogoniformes (Trogons), Piciformes (Woodpeckers, Toucans, Jacamars, and Relatives), Coraciiformes (Rollers, Kingfishers, Hornbills, and Relatives), Coliiformes (Mousebirds), Psittaciformes (Parrots), and Passeriformes (Passerines).

@@indyreno2933 If Columbiformes are somewhat explained as "Pigeons and Doves", why not to do so with Strigiformes as "Owls and Barn Owls"? The difference between two "Owl" families is huge in comparison with all possible differences inside the order Columbiformes.

@vadimpm1290, "owl" refers to the order Strigiformes as a whole, members of the family Tytonidae are specifically called "heart-faced owls", while those in the family Strigidae are specifically known as "true owls"
"Owl" refers to the order Strigiformes as a whole just like "parrot" refers to the order Psittaciformes as a whole
