Clearly not - almost all, if not all have condemned the riots, insurrection, or capital violence to various degrees. Just like almost all dems condemned violence in the wake of the george floyd protests (I use the comparison because it's all over the media, even though the violence at the capital was far more offensive to our democratic system). The United States Constitution Article One, Section Three Last paragraph "Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law." I am no esquire, but the following seems to be what the GOP is gaslighting about. "shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and". *The AND is important smh.* The first objective is moot at this point, since 45 made it out of office before he could have a trial in the senate. There is nothing to prevent the senate to do what the paragraph allows. Hold 45 accountable and set a precedent. The senate must prohibit a president from committing acts of sedition and unbridled election interference. If they don't, they are going to let the hogs loose in the house.

It was internationally monitored, vote counting was done in rooms with CCTV and observers from both parties present, it was audited and recounted multiple times, several investigations happened and only found Trump voters trying to make people they know vote for Trump, and it was extensively litigated at all levels of the courts; to a near total defeat by the Trump campaign on ever level. Not just "oh it was thrown out on standing" like standing is some weird technicality and not the most basic fucking thing in the legal system that determines who can sue where, but also on merit, where all the accusations of fraud were found to be not credible or outright false. This was not some shady election that no one looked at and the numbers don't add up. This was an intensely monitored, investigated, and secure election. I don't know where you got the idea that everyone was talking about mail in voter fraud before Biden won, but that's... just not true. The RIGHT was talking about it, and election officials and center/left media was explaining how there wasn't any more chance for fraud for mailed ballots. All the safeguards of the electoral process are in play for mailed ballots as for in-person ballots, and since there were investigations to make sure signatures matched I'm pretty sure whatever you heard was bullshit. Trump was talking about it and the right wing media backing him up because it was his whole plan to try and discredit mail in ballots, since they were going to lean D, because 'taking the pandemic seriously' had become a partisan issue. No left winger was talking about the insecure nature of mail in ballots in the run up to the election, because they saw what was happening and were acting to dispel the doubt being sowed in the integrity of the electoral process. Democrats, as a whole, have wanted to make voting easier for decades now. The last presidential election was the highest turnout we've had in a long time, partially due to how easy it is to do a mail in ballot early. Of COURSE Pelosi wants to make mail in ballots subject to federal standards and make it universal, because it led to a high turnout election which is what we want in a democracy. It didn't even fucking help the Dems, the massive turnout brought lots of non-voters out who all voted republican and turned what looked to be a goddamn democratic blowout according to polling into a tight victory. "Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Article Two, Section 4 says the President SHALL be removed upon conviction. It does not include ANY language that PREVENTS the President from being impeached and convicted of Treason, Bribery or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors anyway, even if he has already been removed for any other reason. If, for instance, Amendment 25 provisions were invoked, and a President was removed for obvious, immediately dangerous behaviour that indicated he was incapable of performing his duties responsibly, he could still be impeached and convicted for that behaviour if it was of a criminal nature. To assume otherwise is ludicrous.

It's not hyperbole to call them a threat to democracy. We just watched them incite an attack on the capitol to overturn an election they disliked based on lies, and we're watching them shield an unpopular president from accountability because he's liked by the minority they rely on for political power, and we're learning just how close this country came to falling apart and how bad the security situation was, seemingly on purpose.

It occurs in 3rd world countries all the time because they have no accountability for their elections. I'm not even saying there was definitely fraud, but CNN, John Oliver, CBS were all running stories before the election about how mass mail in voting was terrible because it was subject to mass fraud, and no accountability, no signature verification, and no address confirmation rules would make it virtually impossible to prove. Then, their guy wins the election and boom, no fraud anywhere and if you don't utter the words "Joe Biden won fairly" we will destroy you. People aren't stupid (at least most of them aren't), they can see when obvious collusion and social pressure is being applied to silence dissent. It was internationally monitored, vote counting was done in rooms with CCTV and observers from both parties present, it was audited and recounted multiple times, several investigations happened and only found Trump voters trying to make people they know vote for Trump, and it was extensively litigated at all levels of the courts; to a near total defeat by the Trump campaign on ever level. Not just "oh it was thrown out on standing" like standing is some weird technicality and not the most basic fucking thing in the legal system that determines who can sue where, but also on merit, where all the accusations of fraud were found to be not credible or outright false. This was not some shady election that no one looked at and the numbers don't add up. This was an intensely monitored, investigated, and secure election.
I don't know where you got the idea that everyone was talking about mail in voter fraud before Biden won, but that's... just not true. The RIGHT was talking about it, and election officials and center/left media was explaining how there wasn't any more chance for fraud for mailed ballots. All the safeguards of the electoral process are in play for mailed ballots as for in-person ballots, and since there were investigations to make sure signatures matched I'm pretty sure whatever you heard was bullshit. Trump was talking about it and the right wing media backing him up because it was his whole plan to try and discredit mail in ballots, since they were going to lean D, because 'taking the pandemic seriously' had become a partisan issue. No left winger was talking about the insecure nature of mail in ballots in the run up to the election, because they saw what was happening and were acting to dispel the doubt being sowed in the integrity of the electoral process.
Democrats, as a whole, have wanted to make voting easier for decades now. The last presidential election was the highest turnout we've had in a long time, partially due to how easy it is to do a mail in ballot early. Of COURSE Pelosi wants to make mail in ballots subject to federal standards and make it universal, because it led to a high turnout election which is what we want in a democracy. It didn't even fucking help the Dems, the massive turnout brought lots of non-voters out who all voted republican and turned what looked to be a goddamn democratic blowout according to polling into a tight victory.
So... look at yourself. After local election officials said the election was free and fair, state election officials said the election was free and fair, national election officials said the election was free and fair, the FBI said there wasn't massive voter fraud, the DOJ said there wasn't massive voter fraud, state investigations didn't find massive voter fraud, courts at the local level said election procedures were legal and that claims of voter fraud were unsubstantiated, courts at the state level said that election procedures were legal and that claims of voter fraud were unsubstantiated, courts at the federal level said that election procedures were legal and claims of voter fraud were unsubstantiated, the US supreme court said that election procedures were legal and claims of voter fraud were unsubstantiated, national election security officials said the election was free, fair, and without interference, international observers said the election was free, fair and secure, the results were certified in every state, the electors voted without dissent, and congress confirmed the results you STILL say there were open questions about the process and that it lacks integrity. If that doesn't show the danger of the anti-democratic nature of the modern republican party apparatus, I don't know what will.

If, for instance, Amendment 25 provisions were invoked, and a President was removed for obvious, immediately dangerous behaviour that indicated he was incapable of performing his duties responsibly, he could still be impeached and convicted for that behaviour if it was of a criminal nature. To assume otherwise is ludicrous.
This trial has 101 jurors: 51 are victims and 50 are co-conspirators. An outside court would fetch a unanimous guilty verdict.
