  • Much of this is the same as my previous music room tours but there have been some additions for those interested. Also, the video quality is much improved due to my updated camera. Sorry for the length. Once I started babbling, I couldn't stop. Take care everyone!

    Nice to see a system with equipment that an average audiophile could afford. As a person who put together his system in the late 70"s, I can appreciate this collection of gear.

    Now this is one hell of a music room. Mega mega entertainment. You got like a turntable arcade going on here. I have five turntables myself, but I have a small apartment, and I can only hook up two stereos. One in the living room and one in the bedroom.

    Thank you for the quick response, and the reference to your earlier video. Very helpful. I have a Dual 606 turntable from many years ago, that I was thinking about cleaning up and working with. It seems to be OK mechanically, maybe a new cartridge would be a good idea. I'm just not sure if it's worth the effort, however I do agree with you about the value of the vintage gear.
    Thank you again. I really enjoy your videos and learn something new from everyone.

    Hi ben! Stone resin Kenwood and maybe Denons may soon be gone if you'd compare a Realistic LAB-500 on sound quality - but since everybody knows it they're not the best in bargains. Koss don't need new caps, just run them as your main speakers and they'll turn good after a few weeks, just need care in matching electronics - caps dry out in those too. Pioneer look real good but sound best with own brand speakers.

    I am glad I found this video... the other day I though I should pick up some vintage CD players on Ebay, but I felt kinda "guilty" about this pointless exercise. But if you can have 4-5 turntables, I can have 4-5 CD players :)

    Sweet system, I haven't heard Koss speakers mentioned too much. Yours look like the 1010 or 1020's. Koss made killer headphones in the 1970's/80's. I have a pair of Koss Pro4X phones that still sound fantastic and are good for mixing. My open reel machine is a Teac X-3. Didn't know that Phase Linear ever made an expander?? Mine is a Pioneer RG-2, however the best were the DBX models (if you could afford them). Nice setup, well done. Good to hear people playin' Zappa on youtube. Always loved "Just Another Band from L.A.", although can't really pick a favorite Zappa LP. Like your Weasels logo!!

    • @beninski707
      @beninski707  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marty Jewell Thanks so much for all the nice comments. Yes the speakers are 1020’s. I have since acquired 1030’s ( the big brother) but the 1020’s outshine them prob because the 1030’s need recapping. Thanks so much for tuning in.

    Well alright. So great to see you back Mark. I actually sent you off a PM two weeks ago but I figured you have been busy.
    These are not some of the most beautiful turntables I have ever seen. Now I remember how some of these looked before they got the 707 overhaul. I remember when you got the Mitsubishi linear tracking one too. Not really audio? I always thought that it was a quality table. Even the Technics SL 10 is a beauty. I still have not broke down and bought a new one. I have looked and looked in Sal Army's and Goodwill's but no one gets rid of them anymore. They must all be on Craigslist and eBay.
    Just an amazing overview of a guy who has been listening to music as long as I have and who also shares my tastes in music. Thanks for sharing everything Mark.
    Lets share a few words soon. I will write to you as soon as I get some free time and my dad starts to get a little better.

      Sorry for such a late reply my friend. So glad you checked in. I got bored as I was off all week with a bad back so making the video kept me occupied for a while. As I'm not anxious to put myself in front of the camera just now, doing this narrative video seemed to be good therapy. I thought you were going to get that Project TT. I hope my ramblings about vintage equipment wasn't a factor. If you still like it, you should get it. I haven't heard of anyone who own one saying they regretted their decision.
      Very sorry to hear your Dad's not up to par. I sincerely hope his condition improves soon. Thanks again for sitting through this 30 minute fiasco. Take care of yourself.

It's wonderful. We love your passion as displayed by this incredible journey that you have assembled and shared in this video. Thank you for the share! BTW, can you tell us about the shelves on the wall holding individual albums. That look fabulous. Did you make them or can they still be purchased?

      Hi there. Thanks so much for the awesome comments. Very glad you enjoyed my tour. I no longer live in that house and don’t have as large a space for all my stuff so it is now spread thoughout my new place. It’s not quite the same tho. I loved that room!! Anyway, thanks again for the kind comments.

    • @beninski707
      @beninski707  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as those shelves go, they were purchased as 8’ strips that I cut to 13” in length. I fastened them to wall with small “L” brackets. Once a record is in place they are covered up. It was cheap and easy to do.

    • @Tnapvrvideo
      @Tnapvrvideo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to hear back from you. I am glad to read that you still have the equipment albeit spread about in different rooms. Might I ask do you know of any repair/restoration businesses that can repair 'vintage' Pioneer, Denon, and/or Marantz turntables? My wife and I are looking to buy one, but we would need someone to do the work on it. Many Thanks!

    One request. Re-title the video equipment porn. Ok, I lied, two requests. Request two. Never show Snakes and Arrows again until I own a copy! Mark, I'll happily take a 30 minute check-in from ya every few months than nothing! So great to see the setup alive and well and minor/major changes you've made since the last run through. I had actually never seen the other side of the room before (the second setup), nice touch! Really nice to see so many of the turntable you've rehabbed with us over time as they stand (spin?) today. Awesome, just awesome. Full of love and lots of freakin' capacitors. What more do you need?! - Lj

    • @beninski707
      @beninski707  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lj. Thanks for checking in. I'm gonna show Snakes and Arrows all I want buddy. After all, I don't have Counterparts or Roll the Bones like somebody does!! FYI, there's a guy on the VC Facebook page that was so hell bent on getting ALL the Rush albums on vinyl, he recently paid $160 for Snakes and arrows and $200 for the original Vapor Trails. I have no clue what he paid for the Counterparts he acquired recently. I'd love to have them all but could never justify to myself those kind of prices. Hopefully Counterparts and Roll the Bones will be reissued at some point. Thanks for the great comments.

      That's what I'm waiting for, reissues! The new release of the s/t lp was too good to pass up although I have a few originals. Did you order it? Nice box, 200g pressing, fairly priced, a true Rush package. They've always been good about the vinyl thing, fingers crossed they acknowledge the demand for S&A, RTB and Counterparts! $200 for an original Vapor Trails? Why?!?! It sounds like mud! Ok, keep showin' it, it hurts but oh so good! - Lj

      not everybody used the minidisc just because by the time it came out people in general still used cassetes,and if cassetes worked why spend money on other system ,in my house i have three md decks ,one i bought it because it was cheaper then a cassete deck with the same quality this in 95 not shure, and the other two were ofered to me by two friends that didn´t use them, and later in time because its failure ,there were mds to record at 50 cents each so i have hundreds and still today i use them because of its quality and never ending mds to record,and the edition of recordings are the main reason i still use them today or to listen to recorded lps from the 90´s with the same qualty as the day i recorded them this around 20 years ago.mr.chas i tottally agree with you,stay safe

      I think the majority off people switched to Cds and are not going back. I'd be embarrassed to take out my turntable and start playing albums when I have cds and DVDs. Plus my own server with 100s of movies you tube . I'm in my 50's and happy I got caught up in the Wave. My 30 year olds playing rock that I love not that rap crap . I can't believe what they did to MTV.Buy the way the Muslims are coming ! The Muslims are coming !!

      +Danny Miller Hey Danny, I'm 55 and stopped buying vinyl in the 80's like most because of the new technology which was portable and convenient. I even convinced myself that nothing could match cd sound until about 8 years ago. I heard that the interest in vinyl was on the rise and I was intrigued as I always had a soft spot for the "old" technology. I invested in a quality turntable and cartridge, quite a step up to what I had on the past, and purchased a few mint quality records from my past, ones that I also had on cd. I tell you that I was totally blown away as to how much better they sounded, I honestly didn't know that vinyl could sound this good. Not everyone can understand this but you should be able to being from the same age group as myself. Don't be embarrassed on pulling out the old TT. I look at it as being one up on the kids today who think mp3s sound better. In the last 8 years I have purchased over a thousand lps and maybe 10 cds.

      +Danny Miller For me CDs are good for only one thing and that's for my car stereo. Other than that, I don't even play them. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. To each his own. This is just my humble take on it.

      @@beninski707 This response is the heart of the matter, the epiphany that, all things being equal, vinyl sounds better than CD. Full stop. Noise/Pop/Clicks and reduced dynamic range be damned, there are higher considerations at play.

    • @beninski707

      +Danny Miller I love the reel to reel. Analogue sound is much more work than pressing play on you ipod but for me a lot more fun and engaging, whether it be vinyl or RTR tape. Also what could be cooler than having an oversized RTR spinning in your music room? Analogue for sure has it's drawbacks but still kicks ass over those MP3 downloads. Give me physical formats any day. Cheers!!

      reel to reel it´s the best way to record on tape,but it was always expensive ,they still use it on the best recording studios,and today you can choose to record a reel in analog or digital mr.miller

    FYI: beninski707 Has some very nice audio equipment which can sound amazing well even though it isn't "High End" stuff. It's certainly a legitimate way to listen to Vinyl with and a very rewarding hobby without spending 6 figures on high end audio equipment or even $25K on a starter high end system. People like "Batt Man" are the so called audiophiles who turn the rest of us off to the stiff collar, arrogant audiophile. Not all audiophiles are this way. Bravo beninski707 on this great video and some very nice equipment. If you wish please remove "Batt Man's" useless comments and mine as well. Peace

      Hey Jeff. I know you are right but at the time, I wasn’t too concerned about that. I relocated 5 years ago, stripped away some of that gear and set up the remainder into 3 separate rooms. This time I set up my systems with those concepts in mind. Cheers.
