My Izula came in yesterday and I did this weave with the green paracord that was included and International Orange 550. It really looks great! Also, this knife is really nice. Small and easy to handle. I carry a Kimber SIS Pro daily along with an Emerson CQC-8. I just ordered a Strider SMF CC also, but I like the idea of a fixed blade. We can carry up to a 4.5" blade here in Texas. May be my new everyday knife! Good videos!
dude.... THANK YOU for posting this.... it's the first video I've found to weave 550 on a knife without any holes drilled... also... this is a very slick looking wrap.
The knot you finished with is called an overhand knot (though I admit it seems a bit redundant even giving it a name). A cool idea to finish and add a lanyard, which I think might even work better for the purpose, is to try a zig-zag braid, which would probably benefit in appearance from the two colors of paracord. The only trick to that is finishing it, which I've done with melting ("fusing," technically) and whipping. You could probably even do both. I can find a video/directions if requested.
Beautiful work. I love good looking knives and I was blown away when i looked at the esee knife website. I am sure I'm going to lose money to them one way or another lol.
Nice! Im gonna do this on my slotted steering wheel in my 65' bug. The arms of the wheel are chromed and it is blinding in the summer sun so instead of painting it and ruining the wheel Im thinking a nice Paracord wrap would be cool.
@WilliamCutting08 I can't seem to reply normally so I'm putting this here: The knot you finished with is called an overhand knot (though I admit it seems a bit redundant even giving it a name). You are just too cute, I wanna steal you from Lynsie, haha. Don't be mad at me Lynsie! Thanks for the great wrapping vids, just ordered me a pink Izula...
Great work, although I think that I would have wrapped it about 3 times tighter, just so that nothing can slide around when holding tightly and doing hard cutting.
I got a Ka-Bar ZK Archeron the other day and was wondering if if you had any input on how to wrap something like that. the sheath goes slightly over the handle, meaning any wrap would require sheath modification i think.
It's not a bad wrap, I just can't figure out everyone's obsession w/orange paracord? I use black, od green, foliage green, and coyote tan. Seems to sell well, have never had a request for orange yet, wouldn't know where to get it if I did!?
@jardidge you can order it online at amazon, a local army navy store, maybe even walmart. just make sure you look for SEVEN STRAND 550 paracord, as there are imposters that use cotton fluff junk.
By the way, the "basic" knot you tie at the end is simply called an overhand knot. You may wish to try a "figure 8" knot which is more secure and may be more attractive.
Did you gut the cord before wrapping it, or is it fully intact? I like how you fused the ends together. Awesome wrap, I'm probably going to do it on my Izula once I get it! RAT CUTLERY!
rat changed their name to esee when they changed their manufacturer from ontario to rowen (i think)...same company..same ppl designing these great knifes
Well, that was interesting! Pardon me, but that cord wrap didn't actually appear to be tied onto the handle, except at the pinky hole. Does it shift during use? I'd be interested to hear how it holds up under some serious use.
Hey :D realy realy supreme video :D 1 stupid question, when u put 2 cords together u like smelt them together right ? with fire i mean :P and the same in the ends ? u smelt that to ? :DDDD
Jesus Christ, I am going to try this on my Ka Bar TDI when it gets here, but im kind of scared. The last time I tried some of this stringwork was when I tried to make a friendship bracelet. And -shivers- that was a fucking nightmare. Yeah I know, friendship bracelet to a para-cord hand wrap for a knife. Same shit !
People, as you can see, this video was made in 2009- Rat was bought by ESEE since then, or something like that-whatever. I will talk to WilliamCutting08 to see if he will update.
love the wrap, but don't understand why it has to be 7 bumps... if the number of wraps has to be unequal, why not 5 bumps? when you push it down u kinda mess up the design a little bit. other than that the wrap is one of my favourite. :D
The izula is da bomb. exept you say it kinda weird, iz ula not "I" zula, idk, thas just the way I say it, great vid though, I figured out something very simminlar on mine, exept I did'nt name it.
there is no way you invented this wrap. that's like me saying i invented peanut butter cuz i ground them up different than anyone else. Sweet rap tho thanks. and "holyfraggrenade"...YOUR A TOWEL
Well that sucks! Get a new computer, or check for viruses. Maybe something's attacked and slowin' down the process. But then again, what do I know? ATF

Great demonstration! This technique should be easy for anyone to understand and try after your clear and concise explanation. Thanks!!
I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. it will come in handy as I wrap my knives.
Seen a lot of tutorials online, this was simple however very very well explained! Cheers

Best looking one I've seen by far. Makes me want a fixed blade.
This step is where hemostats are a lifesaver.
Very cool technique. If your cord were long enough you could weave a handle and lanyard from one piece. Good job!
Also, I melted to two paracords together over a candle. It worked well and stronger hold than I expected.
Thanks for your vid.
I will definitely use this if I buy the Izula.
Glad to see a new WC video.

Just wrapped a Ka-Bar Zombie Acheron with your basketweave pattern. Looks very nice

nice, just wrapped mine along with ya! thanks!
thanks I just followed your video and did the same to mine, I melted the knot at the end so it doesnt come loose

Awesome; I may have invented a wrap on my own, it's real simple so I doubt it's original but I have yet to see another.
got a nice wrapped handle now thank you :)
@slayergut You have to melt the ends well, and before they harden, you stick them together. Use a lighter for the melting/singing
the orange makes it easy to find if you drop it in the bush or water

but its a nice wrapping thanks to your mom very nice
Yeah it's hard to think about other places we aren't familiar with sometimes.
looks good
thanks M8, & nice job on the rap.
Awesome & thanks!
nice work. wonder if this will work somehow with the new a Buck Skeleton handles. it's got two openings.
Great work, although I think that I would have wrapped it about 3 times tighter, just so that nothing can slide around when holding tightly and doing hard cutting.
awesome. Thanks
good job!!

You could also wrap it like a noose. I have my BK11 wrapped that way.

thank you..good vid..
Bon travail.
Nice vid man.......although I don't have the knife haha
@WilliamCutting08 can you show us how you wrap your izula the way you do on other video "Paracord Stuff" video
By the way, the "basic" knot you tie at the end is simply called an overhand knot. You may wish to try a "figure 8" knot which is more secure and may be more attractive.
the boyscouts use this style of covering for many different things

what did you use to fuse the two lengths of paracord together? i tried with a lighter and the result sucked lol
Hey :D realy realy supreme video :D 1 stupid question, when u put 2 cords together u like smelt them together right ? with fire i mean :P and the same in the ends ? u smelt that to ? :DDDD
I could see that, but who would be using their knife in comlete dark? I'm just saying. . . I still like it though.
@martinaee It's not money lost, if it's spent on a gain.
True, but not all of us live where there are woods. For some reason I forget that not everyone lives in the desert as well. . . I get ya though
i like it but i dont like having to make and end knot on it

It doesn't look very tight. When you are using the knife it will probably move around alot. But looks cool.
love the wrap, but don't understand why it has to be 7 bumps...

other than that the wrap is one of my favourite. :D
@VirgilHawkins1 LOL.... touché---- but you know what I mean. One way or another you have to spend money to buy what you want. :)
It's called an overhand knot (and not, by the way, a half-hitch).
The izula is da bomb. exept you say it kinda weird, iz ula not "I" zula, idk, thas just the way I say it, great vid though, I figured out something very simminlar on mine, exept I did'nt name it.
ended with a granny knot!
i think he melted them together with a lighter
He said I think I invented it aha cool vid tho
Granny knot
overhand knot
did you got that idea from your mom ??
Countcomm(dot)com
they sell the best quality cord, that and "thesupplycaptain". orange is great for visibility.
there is no way you invented this wrap. that's like me saying i invented peanut butter cuz i ground them up different than anyone else. Sweet rap tho thanks. and "holyfraggrenade"...YOUR A TOWEL
that is not a rat izula its a esee izula

fuckin same thing man...rat is now known as ESEE... google rat knives and see where that gets ya....
nice wrap but you didnt invent this. people have been doing this wrap on fishing rods for grips for years.
