    I can’t believe you actually found a use for a phone book!! That knife blade finish is really nice up close

      haha I may be the only one in Australia who actually has a use for them

      @scottecooke 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@armageddonknives I use them all the time for checking the quality of the sharpness of blades I have just sharpened. If you know what to pay attention to you get a lot of feedback on what is going on with the edge.
      Unfortunately the phone books are getting much thinner where I am. But I did get a good sized stack of old ones from someone lol. So I will be good for a while.

    This is exactly the epoxy technique I was looking for, albeit for a completely different application of paracord wrapping - seat frame tube reinforcement on a recumbent bike. Thanks for documenting your process!

    A rotating drying rack would probably be great for you. Lure makers use them when epoxying their lures for a perfectly even epoxy coat.

    Awesome idea, I’m doing a tanto out of a file and was looking at paracord with fibreglass resin but just wasn’t sure how it would go. What do you think about using fibreglass resin?

    Total Boat epoxy is about the best epoxy on the market and has quite a few different formulations to suit any need. Suspend your knife vertically and mix a small batch of epoxy and pour it over the handle startimg from the base of the blade. Let it cure and keep repeating until you have it built up to where you want. Let cure and finnish with sandpaper. OR build a mould that will encase the handle a bit oversized and make your pour. Then use a grinder, sander or dremel to take the handle to where you want it. Sand to 1000 grit, then polish with diamond paste or plastic polishing compound if you want it shiny

    When you thin out the epoxy, what are you using? Does not come out on my phone when you say what you used. Thanks

    Ah, did my first wrap and the handle turned out darker than normal and a little sticky. I didn't use the heat gun on it. Any way to make the handle less sticky and if possible less darker? Dunk it in rubbing alcohol or paint rubbing alcohol on it?

    • @mikalsvendsen6761
      @mikalsvendsen6761 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't be sticky if you have mixed it right. You may want to make sure that you're using the right ratios and mixing well
