@@cicii188 I've been choosing colours based on my skin tone for a while, the colours for eyeshadow are basically the same as this! Cool tones use pinker hues, warm tones use hues with more orange.
@@NewYorkMakeUp even in that video though, she's showing how to _work_ with you what you have, rather than tirelessly trying to change yourself to no avail
It also depends on the pigmentation of your lips to a certain extent. A lipstick shade may look different on 2 people who have the same master and undertone but have differently pigmented lips. It also depends whether you have any make-up or not. Makeup may help accentuate the lipstick shade or it can be that it suits you better without makeup. Outfits play a role too.
This!!! I'm extremely pale but I can't wear light-toned lipsticks because my lips are naturally very pigmented, I look like I have some sort of lipstick on even when I don't. When I wear light shades of lipstick over my natural lip colour I just look sick
@@EmilyChang7 I tried, but I don't like the result. Since I'm very pale but I have dark eyes and hair I look weird with lighter lips.I'd rather wear a darker lipstick.
I don't wear makeup but I do wear lipstick. Can you recommend some lipsticks that can suit a face without makeup?Especially for neutral or fair warm skin
I'm 75 and have spent a lifetime (and a fortune) on trying to find THE lipstick for me. It would be so helpful if there were independent beauty hubs where we could have an in-depth consultation. Even the trained professional staff of the major cosmetic houses don't seem to be all that helpful in the long run. This video is the next best thing to an in-depth consultation.

@ameerahmuanamala3000 Ikr, I'm trying to find if I'm cool or warm or neutral, I think I almost definitely have green/olive undertone but idk abt the cool, warm, neutral thing
I think hair and eye color can play a big part too !! especially if your skin is kind of in between or a combination of shades, changing the tone of hair color (cool/warm) can bring out different undertones. I have pale - cool/neutral - pink skin, with my natural ash blonde hair my skin looks more on the cool side but ever since I’ve died my hair ginger my skin has been giving a more neutral impression, I love wearing peach pinks and orange reds on my lips but I would never wear them with my natural hair. for people with blue eyes like myself the peach/orange undertone or bright red lip colors can also make our eye color look brighter and more saturated ^^
@@HasanKhan-xg4ml I have quite fair skin and brown eyes as well, and I used to dye my hair light brown. For me, the colors that suited my skin tone was brown, orangey brown, brick red, or peachy/coral colors. However I have black hair now and I always lean towards to pinks and mauves. I rarely use warm colors anymore. So, based on having fair skin and different hair color experience, I hope this is helpful for you.
@@HasanKhan-xg4ml I’d say, any bright pretty shade of any colors (especially pink) will do it’s justice. if you’re into dark makeup, bold red will do justice. especially lip matte (lip tint also fits but only if it stays for long)
@@HasanKhan-xg4ml I’m also an Asian with dark brown hair (dyed) and dark brown eyes too and these colors bring more lively and lovely vibe that I go for
OMG DID U JUST READ MY MIND 😭 i was planning on buying a tint today but was so hesitant because it might not fit my skin tone >< thank you sooo much peachie i love u and ur channel
Okay, the undertone section was super helpful. When people go "oh a pink or yellow undertone" I'd be like "But I'm neither wtf...". Didn't realize there's WAY more then just 3 and people were really discussing master tone. So my undertone is green, in reality. The hand picture REALLY helped because it did look like how my hand looks vs my mom's.
Teh undertones are actually yellow or blue (temperature), and then green vs red/pink. You could be yellow and red or yellow and green, same with blue. Green is not a "3rd"undertone persé, just the lack of redness (an extra) which can explain a lot of thing regarding coloring. I highly recommend you wathhing Merriam Style, she gives deep analysis on skin tones
I found that a good way to judge your skin tone better is by taking a few photos in different locations, edit them in Markup, and use the eyedropper to pick colors from your skin: base, blush, lip, highlight, and shadow. Then put those colors against a 50% grey background.
im mind blown because this is the first time ever i’ve seen a video explain so in dept about skin tones…ive been struggling for the longest time ever and this helps! thanks dear peachie, you always make the most informative videos!
Finally a guide that includes olivesss 😭❤ I really have a hard time identifying what suits me sometimes because what I see most of the time just narrows it down to cool-neutral-warm. I really appreciate the efforts put into making this video. Thank you so much!
Also: for those of us who already bought a lipstick that’s a bit off color wise, try experimenting with lip glosses/liners of different differing tones to pair with the lipstick. A warmer lipliner helped my cool-pink lipstick on my neutral skin, same goes for a sheer coating of warm lip gloss!
Imm so glad you really included the full range of skin tones in your video! As a darker skinned girl myself, its great seeing your advice applies to others like me💕
I am an asian and my upper lip is darker than my lower lip. So I always choose a lip colour which matches my upper lip and then i just apply the lipstick to my lower one. After the lipstick is 50% dry i just pop my lips together to make it look more even. And then tada! it's hard to recognise if i am wearing lipstick or not😁
I'm so dumb, why have I never thought about doing that before?💀💀 I'm black and my top lip is brown but my bottom lip is bright pink. Thank you so much for the tip!!💟
right! sometimes I also line my lips with a brown shade that matches my upper lip and create a gradient in the middle with a shade that matches the red in the middle
Seulgi is actually cool-toned, the reason why she looked warmer was because of her warm hair colour, which brought out the yellow in her skin. This is why it’s important to learn about personal colour in order to manipulate your makeup and style for a desired effect!
I'm a neutral-olive or muted warm-olive, the only time I can pull off orange is if it's peachy. And even then, it has to be muted or lean more red Instead of a strong orange, when it's instead a TRUE secondary color of orange-red (which peach falls under). But to be fair, even peach is sometimes too orange for my liking. There are some olives who can pull it off more than me, but that's more dependent on their skin. I personally believe olive is a whole spectrum of its own. Varying from intensity of olive, from cool/neutral/warm, etc. Sometimes I wish I didn't have that olive in my skin, It's hard to make sense of. I'm a South Asian w/ light medium complexion. So anytime I have to refer to lipstick shade swatches, I noticed I unintentionally flock to the Asian diaspora. While we're not all olive, we still have quite diversity of what olive can look like. So it helps a lot. This is the first time I've ever seen this channel, I really appreciate it.
it's so interesting to hear that perspective! I'm a warm/neutral olive but cool colours look so bad on me. I always gravitate towards orange or brick tones, so you're right in that olive is a spectrum
You mentioned something I was noticing myself, but couldn't quite get it. The thing about matte and shimmery lip products. I don't understand why matte suits me so much more. I would love to hear more about beauty products' finish, how to choose right for yourself and how to combine them to not look dead and flaky or oily and greasy.
if you’re Asian, I recommend watching the Korean youtuber UIREH (One and Only)! She explains that there are certain seasons which don’t look good in shiny or glossy clothes/ makeup. If your skin is muted and gray ish in colour, chances are shimmery products won’t look good on you.
There are three aspects of colour: Hue, brightness (light vs dark) and saturation. People only usually focus on the hue, whether it’s warm or cool. The truth is, the other aspects of colour are just as important. Regarding why shimmery products might not look good on you, it’s mostly likely due to the saturation aspect. Glitter looks great on people with skin of high saturation, most of the time these people already have a certain ‘glow’ to their skin. By bringing the saturation down, the skin becomes more muted and will appear more matte. If you put glitter on muted skin tones, the grey and ‘lifelessness’ of the skin becomes more apparent. I hope his makes sense 😂
@@CoolGirl34567 Thank you for your recommendations, I will check her channel. At the moment I use season color analysis [which includes 12 groups]. I'm a deep autumn and the study suggests me matte and slightly shimmery products as well.
if you mean undertones than try looking at fotos of urself next to ur friends. it help me a lot. i noticed that i look much cooler compared to my friend is is more warm. then i compared myself to a friend of mine who is also cool toned and noticed i had a more pinkish color compared to her more neutral color.
I'm yellow undertones and can't agree more!! Nude lips will make me look like I'm already dead, pink and bright lips will make you see only my lips (in a bad way)
Wow, so true! This whole time, I thought I was warm toned because I can't pull off fuschias and pinks, but didn't know why I couldn't wear orange or red orange lips. Turns out I'm actually neutral toned!!! Hallelujah, I'm smack dab in the middle!
I have a green undertone, berry and rose colors look absolutely stunning on me. They are the only two colors I wear, though I wasn’t aware of what my undertone was, I just happened to find the right shade after trying several colors. I’ll try the red bean paste color too so I can switch things up.
Tbh I notice how almost everyone categorise dahyun as cool toned just bc she’s super pale but she seems more warm toned to me. Back in like ooh-ahh she looked amazing with the red and orange streaks in her hair, yet looked washed out with purple and mint. She seems to suit warmer looks more too
Yes that’s what happened to me before. I collected a lot of lippies that are regrets. In the recent years, I realized what worked for me and my skin tone. Because of my neutral undertone, I found that there are cool and warm shades that work and won’t work with me. Like the pink cherry reds and orange reds do not look good on me but bluish reds and true neutral reds even with a tiny hint of orange look nice on me.
Yes and there is also a difference between your actual skin tone vs your personal colour! I have an olive skin tone, literally consisting only of a strong yellow and green! Took me a while to realise that my yellow skin ≠ looking good with warm toned products. I actually look better with cool purples and reds, which “counteract” the strong yellow and green in my skin. Colour theory is extremely interesting lol 💜
yes! i’m still working on figuring out what looks good, but I know very pink colours and very orange looks off on me, but i’ve found a slightly warm red looks really good
to be fair the reason she says it wouldn't look good is because it draws a lot of attention there, so if you want people to look at your lips i don't think it would look that bad UNLESS you have a longer lower half, if so, probably best to accentuate your eyes instead and follow this video (i also have protruded lips btw!)
@@whattamess lol i see thank you! I like the shape of my lips but unfortunately I have a long philtrum 😭 AND an overbite which causes my lips to protrude even more like duck lips and I hate that. 💔 My eyes are even worse so I am so confused Abt what to do ahah
Same here! I’ve got big full round lips but when I put on the glossy lipsticks I look so weird 😭 I prefer using lip tints and creating a gradient instead 😂
Honestly I would say to just wear whatever you want! You could try a sort of in-between where you can put on a little gloss so you can still get that glossy finish, it just won't be exaggerated. These videos apply theory and explain why certain styles or colors look so different on everyone. There are no rules on how to do makeup. Makeup styles that were popular in the 70s, weren't popular in the 90s. Trends will always change, so just do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. People are automatically more attractive when they are confident.
i have fuller lips but i wish they were more "filled" in the middle. like more puty lips bc when i look at myself from the side i wish they were more filled at the center in the middle. i usually put gloss on but i don't like how my lips look when they're too glossy like it doesn't look right so i tap it off a little or work it into my lipstick i used before so it is a bit sheen. i use make up since i'm 13 and i still don't know how to do my make up the best way i can make it to make my features pop
It took me so long to figure out I was warm olive because people tend to ignore it althogether in skin tone analysis videos, but you mentioned it and I feel included. Wonderful video
First time I’m hearing of protruded lips so I googled and it looks like an Asian-beauty standard. That facial structure is also very common in people of African descent but I don’t see many cosmetic surgery photos of us. I believe we see nothing undesirable about protruding lips! And traditionally we LOVE juicy lips even those of us with very full lips. 😂 No wonder I was so confused.
it's not a beauty standard.... it's more like because not all people have straight teeth and not all people have their upper and lower teeth aligned correctly. and i believe it's not only for asian people
I think there's also a factor that with having bigger lips, the gap between the upper lip and base of the nose (philtrum) is smaller. I have medium sized lips but that gap is pretty small for me, glossy lips make my philtrum even more squashed.
Glossy lip draws your attention to the lower part of the face! This is brilliant- no wonder i never liked them because ive always disliked my chubby cheeks 😅
such a great video, really helpful! but i couldn't help but notice that despite stating that olives can be further divided into warm and cool, there wasn't a discussion for shades that suit warm olive skin tones? or even neutral olive tones?
I have decently fair pink toned skin- and I can say this also holds true for blushes and contours. Warm toned blush/contour does not look natural and overpowers my face- yet the cool tones look great (especially with very soft notes of grey/purple for the hollows of the cheek). If I want to wear some of the more in trend brown "lipliner lip" I have to fully commit and change the tone of my whole face and choose a more yellow toned foundation etc. and blending it all out can be a pain.
It’s really difficult for us people with very pale olive skin. However I found out that brick red fits me best, but I don’t know any more colors that fit with this skin tone.
So interesting! My skin is tanned, therefore I always assumed I was warm-yellow undertone & would mostly buy lipsticks that compliment that skin tone but would dislike how corals and orange lipstick looked on me, however people would compliment me a lot when I used lipstick with blue hues. After your video I have realized, I’m more on the cool medium tone with olive undertone 😂 I’ve lied to myself all my life hahaha
Interesting! I always assumed because I had warm yellow hair and green eyes that my skin was warm toned. I think I’m actually neutral with green undertones. Oranges, pinks and browns look awful on me but blue reds and berry tones are great.
Thank you for the deep and comprehensive explanation. It’s not just full of scientific terms that are too complicated to understand. Keep on making these videos! These are really helpful ❤❤❤
This is literally my favorite channel is so so unique and helpful I just sometimes wish it had more ppl other than Asian but that’s just me loving this channel so much and wanting more content that goes with my features Please continue doing this amazing work
This is so accurate! I have warm and yellow tone and I have been using red orangey lip tints ever since, because they look so good on me. Now I understand why I look so good in this color. It's my skintone's best color!
This channel is the best beauty channel on TH-cam! Complimenting our best features based on visual presence, ratios, color matching... it's all very smart, and I've definitely felt like my best self from following tips on here. Plus, it's all very high quality! Thank you dear peachie, we love you! 🥰
This is soooo very useful and clear! I had this one lipstick one time that I got from my sister. Its a orangey red kinda hue. It suits me soooo well that I was surprised. I ran out of it and can never find the same shade ever!! I asked my sister what brand it was and where she got it. She didn't know either cause it was given to her (she's an amateur model in our city's local agency so she often gets free stuff). Everything make sense now, I mean I do know I'm more of a warm tone but I've never educated myself on master tones and undertones. Turns out I'm warm tone with orangey undertone! It makes soooo much sense that, that lipstick shade was perfect for me!
I finally found my perfect color! Its an redish orange, but a bit darker. I am indian and have a medium - light skin tone. Its like a light tan. I just found my best color. All the others always made my lips look purple. I use elf lip laquer in the color “moody”. Hope this helped some of you!
Im a neutral undertone but more on the cool blue side but some warms still works on me. Now I understand why bright color lippies doesn’t work for me! Thanks for this helpful and detailed explanaition!
People need to realize skin undertone warm vs cool is different than personal color type's cool vs warm types. Because even though seulgi has warm-toned skin which has many yellow pigments in it she needs to wear cool-toned colors to compliment it or else she will look very heated/yellow/red like the one in this video. On the contrary, people who look good with warm colors actually have very cool grayish skin. And that is why they NEED warm colors to compliment it or else they look very sick, and dull. So if a warm color looks good on you it is probably because your skin needs more warm color.
Ummm you r right i was thinking the same if someone with really yellow undertone skin wears bright orange lipstick I don't think it looks good ...i have golden undertone but pink lipstick suits me well ...i think if you r warm undertone and wear too much warm colors then it just doesn't look good in my opinion 🤷
@@carpediem6688 I don't think that's all about matching opposite shades and undertones to balance it out. Also same skin and makeup undertone works better many times. Pale People with pink or cool undertones don't look that good with bright colors like orange, orangy red, coral or very bright pink while dark skinned people with warm undertones are the best match for these bright colors and these colors also work for a light skin with golden undertone. Pink and pale people look better than other skin shades with blue tone red in my opinion! While it's the same undertone as their skin undertone and people with warm undertones don't look as good as them but warm tone red works better for warm undertones.
I guess you are right.. as a Asian with neutral grayish skin, warm colours suits me the best ,when I'm alone i look yellow but when I'm out with friends, most of them are very yellowish than me and the rest are pink ... making me the odd one out..like a boiled fish meat without pigment 😝🤣🤣🤣 i figured out how to make me look bright last year.
I've always struggled to find a good nude shade lipstick and I feel like this whole video explains why I was hesitant to buy most of the advertised "nude shades" cause I noticed most nude lip shades make me look sick instead.. This video about undertone colors helps make sense why I always was hesitant with certain shades. I also noticed it's hard to find a good "red lipstick" and when I tried the red-orangey hued lipsticks, it doesn't really suit me. Definitely, made me sure that I'm more cool toned but only found out now that the reason for orangey red lipstick or orangey nude lipsticks not suiting me, is because I most likely have a cool pink/blue undertone which surprised me but also makes sense why purple has always been my go to lipstick shade
I never wore any lipstick until I tried Ruby woo and my life changed. For the first time ever a shade looked pretty. Made me look pretty. And then I began to explore shades of brown and deep reds, especially mattes, those are my range of colors. Yup also I am a neutral undertone
Honestly, how do you not have more subs and views? Your videos are SO informative and helpful. So glad I found your channel... especially being Asian in Western country, I find it so difficult to learn Asian beauty here.
You could also go into a store like ulta or sephora where you can use testers and match your perfect foundation shade to your neck or chest to see your undertone. I have to do this because I am neutral but I have very sensitive skin and a lot of redness so if I used a photo without makeup on I would get a false result. And I never wear lipstick alone, I always have on my color corrector or light foundation.
I think every lip shade looks beautiful on every woman.. Lipsticks are made to intensify your real beauty... So girls feel free to apply any shade... U are beautiful ❤
THIS IS SOOOO USEFUL I always suspected I have neutral master tone, but I have yellow undertone and I didn't know how to deal with it. The thing is that I didn't know there's a difference between master tone and undertone, so this helped me a lot 🥺🥺 thank uuu
I never hear anyone talk about this, but I have a medium, neutral-to-warm skin tone, but my teeth are not as white as they used to be, and using an orange-based or coral red really makes them look yellow. So I opt for cooler lip colors, even though I'm not technically a cool master tone. I just figured it's a neutral thing - having a slightly warm undertone, but finding cooler makeup colors to work better. There IS such a thing as too-cool makeup colors for me, but always trying to walk that line! lol
I came here from the hair video to find out that I have cool, pink skintone! I always believed it was some kind of warm skintone because the instructions to finding it were always messy, but in here they're so detailed! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
U r a saviour Peachie.......Just bought a set of 6 lipsticks but none of them suit me.......So from next time to avoid this havoc, needed this.........
oh my god?!? this is accurate actually 😨 i’m neutral and i practically have all the colors (of lip product) mentioned in the neutral segment. just a little story, i once bought a warm lip product that had somewhat of an orange tint (accidentally, because i bought online and the picture wasn’t accurate.) i tried it and concluded that i’d never buy a warm lip product again, and that cooler tones were for me. I then came across a really pink/purple (almost neon) lipstick (a friend had a selection of lipsticks they want to give and had me choose.) but again, i didn’t choose accurately bc i didn’t get to swatch it. so i tried it and it looked bad on me! 🤣 (kinda shocked? bc i thought cool tones were for me 🤣 during the duration of my then cool-toned makeup phase i’ve bought berry shades. they complimented me well (just like what was shown.) however, i also bought one product i thought was cool but really wasn’t (another inaccurate online buy 🙄😝) but it still looked good on me. it was a salmon-y colored lip balm like in the video 😚 now i’ve got to try other shades mentioned.
The perfect lipstick texture also depends on your skin type. For example, if your skin is oily then matte lipsticks are more preferable and vice-versa!
please do a video on whether certain types of face shapes/structures should accentuate eye makeup or lips makeup! I love your content and it has taught me so much.
I kinda already knew my undertone but still needed to check again and DAMNN you’re right and I’m right too!! 🤣 Having blue/green undertone isn’t easy at all tho 😩
I just wanted to thank you for this in depth information. I’ve always loved makeup and I love and I’m been good at doing others makeup but the matching my own lipstick has always been a problem. I have a problem understanding the color theory. Please do another video please doesn’t matter what it’s for as long as it’s along the line of color theory and makeup. Once again thank you 😊
Neutral tones can really rock BOTH!! But you have to be a little bit skilled. I’m neutral/slightly warm but I love MAC’s ruby woo an its flankers. Just keep in mind that your overall makeup should have the same undertone/neutral.
Great video, I keep rewatching it! Another thing to take into account is contrast levels. An extremely fair-skinned person can rock dark red lipstick if they have dark hair because the dark color will go well with the person’s natural contrast levels.
There's this saying that no matter how other lipsticks make you look, pink suits everyone. Ironically pink really doesn't look good on me for some reason. Almost all shades of pink look tacky on me. I've tried so many shades of pink, the closest one that looks decent on me would be mauve pink. It makes me sad when I see all my friends using different shades of pink because it is the standard, go to colour and is suitable fot all events but I have to use coral/reddish ones or nude ones😐
I am neutral with green undertone a bit violet as well. I don't know man, my lipshade changes hugely on the clothes I wear bright orange or peach doesn't suit my skin but when I wear a cloth that compliment orange or peach miraculously peach and orange lipshade suits me. I need a phd to figure out my lipshade at this point 😂
I'm a cool mastertone (with maybe peachy undertone) and most pinks look terrible on me actually.. Most of the recommended lip colors for warm tones actually suit me best personally. Perhaps it has something to do with my eye and hair color too, I have a warm undertone in my blonde hair and have dark blue eyes so I'm not a 'typical' cool toned blonde even though my skin IS cool toned.
I was sweating waiting for peachy undertone but I see, it falls under orange! That helps. I am not sure if I have neutral orange skin or warm orange skin. Not sure what you mean by medium vs tan but eh, as a deep bronze person I think some of the shades warm fair tones and warm medium tones work for me in addition to the ones listed under “tan” here. Idk about orangey colors but Brown-pinks (you call them milk tea shades I think?), brown-reds, basically brown as the base (versus blue/purple or orange) is very flattering to my skin tone.
Omg this is so so helpful, alway thought I was cool tone but only deep reds and nudes suit me and now the mystery is over, I am in fact a neutral queen lol

I have a cool skin tone with pink undertones, I wore a light red lipstick with pink lipgloss over the top and it looked really pretty, so I guess this is why :) I usually struggle with lipshades but this was really useful
this is fun because it does not only helo with makeup but with painting too, it helps to think about undertones and contrast when painting faces so that's rly cool:3
I've been struggling to figure out my undertone. My skin is very pale and everyone I ask seems to think I'm cool toned. But whenever I try to wear cool-toned makeup, it looks awful. And my wost enemy is cool pink lipstick - it makes me look deathly ill. But the "rules" say it should be my best! Meanwhile, my favourite lip colours are either that "milk tea" category, warm red, or even brown-red as a lip tint. I don't think I'm fully warm, but could I be neutral?
My first lip product was an orange liptint. I thought it looked cute, as it looked so good on my friend. When I used it, maybe affected by my own natural lip color, it turned my lips bright red with orange tone, but it looked awful. A year later I mistakenly bought a lip cream online that looked too pink for my liking, but the color actually looked nice on me. Then I noticed that people tend to compliment me when I’m wearing lip products with pink and blue tones, but getting mistaken for being sick when I wear yellow or orange tones as (according to them) these tones supposedly make my skin look unhealthy and weird. So I must have cool master tone with blue or pink undertone (not sure because I burn under sun but slightly tan too)
Aw, she missed a master tone to recommend lip shades for. The cool, neutral with olive undertones. Basically, the criminally hard shade to find lip colors for. It took me years to figure out that was me. So here's what works for me, for any of you people still in the struggle and might need an idea or two. Lol Lip shades that lean too pale, vivid, orange, or brown look garish on me. But I can wear any warm color as long as it's not too warm or brown. I can wear any cool color as long as it's not too saturated or vivid. Any nude must have some peachiness too it to make up for how pale mauve my lips already look or it looks ghostly on me.( But this is just my personal lip tone. Yours can be different even if our skin matches.) With eye-shadows though I can wear both more vivid and warm colors and they look fine against my pale skin, but too cool or cold is a no go, for me personally. Feels depressing or looks too intense. Otherwise I can do most colors like if I was a white canvas. Lol On my cheeks, pale peaches and pinks are great cuz they make me look alive, but too vivid or saturated is a nope. No brown leaning shades at all. Those look yucky on me. All this generally applies to clothing colors for me too. Most neutrals of any color work. Neons and pastels look pretty on me. But too cold or dark jewel tones are too intense looking on me or they draw too much attention. Can do light oranges and yellows. They look happy. But any brown oranges and warm browns in general look yucky on me. Cool leaning browns look fine. Reds, greens, purples, and blues are tricky/picky. Those just come down to personal mood choices and season. I don't like intensely bright or too dark blues. Too depressing, boring, or they wear me instead. But midnight blue is the exception for specific styles in moderation and usually paired with something sparkly or metallic. I don't like too orangey or too blue reds. But most reds otherwise look nice. Dark reds like oxblood or burgundy look amazing on me. Like, Snow White style amazing same as lips. Don't like too dark or too red purples. Lighter warm purples, mauves, and pastel purples look amazing on me. Neons must be done in small doses and paired with either white, grey, or black for contrast. Can do most greens, but it depends on my mood, season, and size of clothing items. And it's mostly the same for hair color as clothing, but more so depending on my favorite colors and mood. And there you have it. 😅
Your skin looks like mine- I tell the girls at ulta to match a faded Simpson and that seems to help. After I drug he’s to a sandy or yellow based pale foundation my eyes no longer look sunken (from using cool tones pale foundation) Are you basque blood too?
I think I have warm golden olive skin undertone. I pull of orangey and peach shades really well while muaves and cool pink shades turns me into zombie.
I am still at a loss in determining my skin tone lol.. wondering why everyone finds it so easy 🥲 I am definitely warm, but not sure if I am orange, yellow or red/cinnamon. I have high melanin in my skin, but my cheeks (the palest part) has pink undertone! Any suggestions?
Great video! I really wish the examples for master tone weren't wearing makeup because they are wearing foundation and blush, which can affect their tones, and it's a bit confusing
I think you should add the olive skintone, it's kinda a greyish skintone, I have olive skintone and people always think that I look too tired, I have a hard time to find which shade suit me too. Hope this can help you create new content. Love your chanel ❤
@@シシ-r5g yeah, you know that they're being kind and worried about you but when they ask too many times when your health is completely fine, it becomes bothersome 🤦
I can tell that my skin is definitely not cool, but I always had a problem identifying whether it's warm or neutral (probably somewhere between the two). The issue with lipsticks for me is when I find a pretty lipstick that looks warm colored, e.g. red, the second I put it on myself, it turns pink. Same with brownish colors, they turn purple on me (and I look terrible in both pink and purple). Any idea why this may happen and how to fix it? :((
It's likely because of the color of your lips. I have two toned lips so I have to be mindful that the lipstick color I choose will look different for the bottom and top lip. You can mix lipstick colors to get the look you want or use a liner to fill in and create a neutral base.
My whole life thinking my skin tone is warm, but I'm actually Cool and Pink undertone, thats why the colors I bought never looked right on me Thank uuu
I'm Asian and when I look at my skin, I honestly see yellow undertones. However, I've noticed that warms shades make me look even more yellow/dull/sickly, whereas cool tones (pink shades particularly) brighten my complexion. Gold jewellery makes me look more tan/golden (in a good way) whereas silver makes me look more bright and radiant. Someone pls tell me what my skin tone is T_T
dear peachie, ure a life saver! ive recently come across a tiktok trend where u can apparently measure whether u have cool or warm undertones through an app. when i tried partaking in the trend, i was typed as a warm-autumn typa galㅡmeaning, i have warm-undertones. moreover, there's this assumption that gold suits warm undertones better, and yet when i tried wearing bronze-ish gold jewelry, the color did not flatter my skin, then, when i tried wearing silver and light yellow gold jewelry, my skin looked better! moreover, when i tried wearing warm/true autumn clothes, my skin looked dull, yet when i tried going for lighter shades, my skin looked better! anyways, thanks to you dear peachie. ive now accurately found my undertones! instead of being mistyped as a warm-undertone typa girlie, i have green hues that sit between the borders of cool and yellow undertones! thank u so much! u have cured my conflicts surrounding my skin tone 😭💘
Does anybody have any product/brand recommendations for lip products with milk tea/red bean/warm dusty rose shades? I feel like I've looked through all the lip products on yesstyle and none of them catch my eye 😖😖

Hi
I love love love how this channel isn’t like “how to be pretty” and more like “here’s how to compliment your features to look like your best self”
And it takes in account asian (and by extent latin american) face shapes 😚
I don't think so. There's a video on how to look thinner. That's no "complimenting your look"
@@NewYorkMakeUp the majority of complementing your face is more than that so...
@A M I was gonna say this too!! She is such a Queen in always emphasizing what complements the best to achieve this aesthetic, if preferred..

@@lauragoreni3020 Have you tried putting on a concealer over your lips before applying lip color? that helps me
@@EmilyChang7 I tried, but I don't like the result. Since I'm very pale but I have dark eyes and hair I look weird with lighter lips.I'd rather wear a darker lipstick.

Fr 🥲
Dyed* lol 😅
Do you have any advice because I have quite fair skin I'd say but my hair is really dark brown and I have brown eyes???

Aye Olive undertone gang 🫒👋🏻
Teh undertones are actually yellow or blue (temperature), and then green vs red/pink. You could be yellow and red or yellow and green, same with blue. Green is not a "3rd"undertone persé, just the lack of redness (an extra) which can explain a lot of thing regarding coloring.
I highly recommend you wathhing Merriam Style, she gives deep analysis on skin tones
Honestly I'm still confused. All i know is cold colors dont look good on me
Which lipsticks work for warm olive skin tone
@@Cutie-zp8ot i think some mauve/ taupey and peachy nude pink would work. I think it’s the same than the cool tone but a warm toned equivalent.
I found that a good way to judge your skin tone better is by taking a few photos in different locations, edit them in Markup, and use the eyedropper to pick colors from your skin: base, blush, lip, highlight, and shadow. Then put those colors against a 50% grey background.

And then tada! it's hard to recognise if i am wearing lipstick or not😁
Lol I have thought of doing the same thing. But I would rather remove the pigmentation
I'm so dumb, why have I never thought about doing that before?💀💀 I'm black and my top lip is brown but my bottom lip is bright pink. Thank you so much for the tip!!💟
@@aditisingh9329 lip pigmentation is normal especially if you're medium or dusky. You won't be able to remove
Smart, will definitely try this (african woman)
right! sometimes I also line my lips with a brown shade that matches my upper lip and create a gradient in the middle with a shade that matches the red in the middle
i love how you gave actual advice for the neutral shade instead of going 'anything will go with it'
Seulgi is actually cool-toned, the reason why she looked warmer was because of her warm hair colour, which brought out the yellow in her skin.
I feel the same, like tangerine orange looks awful on my skin making me feel like I look green.
it's so interesting to hear that perspective!
Maybe you have sharp features, I've seen matte lipsticks suit them more
if you’re Asian, I recommend watching the Korean youtuber UIREH (One and Only)!
@@nm9688 I have prominent, but blunt bones and a lot of flesh on top. So I would say my appearance is quite soft and natural.
@@CoolGirl34567 Thank you for your recommendations, I will check her channel. At the moment I use season color analysis [which includes 12 groups].

if you mean undertones than try looking at fotos of urself next to ur friends. it help me a lot. i noticed that i look much cooler compared to my friend is is more warm. then i compared myself to a friend of mine who is also cool toned and noticed i had a more pinkish color compared to her more neutral color.
A year late lol but what did you decide was your master color? Those colors look pretty good on me
How do I identify those colors?
Agree so much om this!! Cherry lips and orange red are a no go for me... And I am leaning towards warm but pretty much neutral
Colour theory is extremely interesting lol 💜
yes! i’m still working on figuring out what looks good, but I know very pink colours and very orange looks off on me, but i’ve found a slightly warm red looks really good
I've got protruded lips but I absolutely love the glimmering juicy lip gloss or lip tint look 😭
I wish I would look good in it
to be fair the reason she says it wouldn't look good is because it draws a lot of attention there, so if you want people to look at your lips i don't think it would look that bad UNLESS you have a longer lower half, if so, probably best to accentuate your eyes instead and follow this video
(i also have protruded lips btw!)
But she didn't suggest a lipstick shade😩
First time I’m hearing of protruded lips so I googled and it looks like an Asian-beauty standard. That facial structure is also very common in people of African descent but I don’t see many cosmetic surgery photos of us. I believe we see nothing undesirable about protruding lips! And traditionally we LOVE juicy lips even those of us with very full lips. 😂 No wonder I was so confused.
This is a HUGE asian beauty standard, people get braces not to have straighter teeth, but to make teeth protrude less. Ugh
yea i noticed that too! personally i think bigger lips are the most versatile. both matte and glossy will suit you.
it's not a beauty standard.... it's more like because not all people have straight teeth and not all people have their upper and lower teeth aligned correctly. and i believe it's not only for asian people
I think there's also a factor that with having bigger lips, the gap between the upper lip and base of the nose (philtrum) is smaller. I have medium sized lips but that gap is pretty small for me, glossy lips make my philtrum even more squashed.
Up till now I still don't get it.. what's protruded lips? I googled it.. and don't get it
im still confused with my skin tone

such a great video, really helpful! but i couldn't help but notice that despite stating that olives can be further divided into warm and cool, there wasn't a discussion for shades that suit warm olive skin tones? or even neutral olive tones?
I was looking for that too!! Hope there’s discussion on warm olives
I learned more in this video than I ever did in beauty school!
Thank you for the deep and comprehensive explanation. It’s not just full of scientific terms that are too complicated to understand. Keep on making these videos! These are really helpful ❤❤❤

I’m Indian too ^^ are you warm toned? I feel like a reddish orange is def gonna flatter warm skin tones
I don't think so the shade you mentioned MOODY is more of a peachy nude it's not warm toned tho.
Yes this!! People need to read this!!
No that’s not how that works.
There IS such a thing as too-cool makeup colors for me, but always trying to walk that line! lol
i love how you talk about what the dont's are and just what the do's are.

I think it's really pretty and rare
@@magihiyoriyona_nanatsu5092 Thank u! I find it rare too. Sometimes I look like an alien and sometimes the corpse bride 😂
Same here 😂 even worse when you’re pale 😭
@@timtam3411 Ikr! 🤣 Freshly woke up from the coffin 😭
You dropped a blessing to us dear peachie💖
I can't believe how informative your videos are! Thank you for opening my eyes
The way I still don't know my undertone...
this is fun because it does not only helo with makeup but with painting too, it helps to think about undertones and contrast when painting faces so that's rly cool:3
Really helpful...this is what I really like about this channel...their content is original and helpful
So I must have cool master tone with blue or pink undertone (not sure because I burn under sun but slightly tan too)
Honestly I wasn't even expecting this to be THIS thorough and helpful. I never understood skin tones better! I'm saving this for future reference :)
Aw, she missed a master tone to recommend lip shades for. The cool, neutral with olive undertones. Basically, the criminally hard shade to find lip colors for.
It took me years to figure out that was me. So here's what works for me, for any of you people still in the struggle and might need an idea or two. Lol
Lip shades that lean too pale, vivid, orange, or brown look garish on me.
Yours can be different even if our skin matches.)
With eye-shadows though I can wear both more vivid and warm colors and they look fine against my pale skin, but too cool or cold is a no go, for me personally. Feels depressing or looks too intense. Otherwise I can do most colors like if I was a white canvas. Lol
On my cheeks, pale peaches and pinks are great cuz they make me look alive, but too vivid or saturated is a nope.
After I drug he’s to a sandy or yellow based pale foundation my eyes no longer look sunken (from using cool tones pale foundation)
Are you basque blood too?
Cool olive skintone!!! You saved me
OMG THANK U FOR THIS
Couldn't explain why certain reds look good on me (isn't all red considered warm?) until I saw this. Thank you for this video!!
I think I have warm golden olive skin undertone. I pull of orangey and peach shades really well while muaves and cool pink shades turns me into zombie.
I have like a red reddish yellow undertone and that’s why it’s so hard for me to find my skin tone and make up all the time thank you for helping me 🥰
I don't think I'm suited for this 💀 maybe I should just go back to my algebra revision
I finally knew my right tone. This will help me to choose lip colors. Thanks a lot!
I still can't tell my skin tone 😭
Me too.
Just learned that I have cool toned yellow skin! Thank you so much for the great explanation!
I'm still confused, sometimes I'm yellow, sometimes...I'm green, and sometimes I'm the combination of green and yellow 😭
Welcome to life as an olive skin tone
Thank you for always using darker skin tones I really appreciate it
I am still at a loss in determining my skin tone lol.. wondering why everyone finds it so easy 🥲 I am definitely warm, but not sure if I am orange, yellow or red/cinnamon. I have high melanin in my skin, but my cheeks (the palest part) has pink undertone! Any suggestions?
Please do best blush colours for different skin tones!!
I love this because I have two-toned lips💗
Great video! I really wish the examples for master tone weren't wearing makeup because they are wearing foundation and blush, which can affect their tones, and it's a bit confusing
U wouldn't believe me if I tell you
I'm 17 And never tried lipstick 💄
I always use vesaline and lip balm only
So I'm thinking bout buying one .
This video sums up all videos on TH-cam to make us understand about skintone. Its amazing knowledge. Keep up the good work 😍
I think you should add the olive skintone, it's kinda a greyish skintone, I have olive skintone and people always think that I look too tired, I have a hard time to find which shade suit me too. Hope this can help you create new content. Love your chanel ❤
@@シシ-r5g yeah, you know that they're being kind and worried about you but when they ask too many times when your health is completely fine, it becomes bothersome 🤦
Omg the new editing styles are so cute! I love your editing, all styles are lovely!
your lips color also matter. maybe it's because of that
It's likely because of the color of your lips. I have two toned lips so I have to be mindful that the lipstick color I choose will look different for the bottom and top lip. You can mix lipstick colors to get the look you want or use a liner to fill in and create a neutral base.
That could be a reason... Thank you!
My whole life thinking my skin tone is warm, but I'm actually Cool and Pink undertone, thats why the colors I bought never looked right on me
Thank uuu
I'm Asian and when I look at my skin, I honestly see yellow undertones. However, I've noticed that warms shades make me look even more yellow/dull/sickly, whereas cool tones (pink shades particularly) brighten my complexion. Gold jewellery makes me look more tan/golden (in a good way) whereas silver makes me look more bright and radiant. Someone pls tell me what my skin tone is T_T
I don’t know about your undertone, but safe to say that you fall under the cool tone under master tone
dear peachie, ure a life saver!
ive recently come across a tiktok trend where u can apparently measure whether u have cool or warm undertones through an app. when i tried partaking in the trend, i was typed as a warm-autumn typa galㅡmeaning, i have warm-undertones. moreover, there's this assumption that gold suits warm undertones better, and yet when i tried wearing bronze-ish gold jewelry, the color did not flatter my skin, then, when i tried wearing silver and light yellow gold jewelry, my skin looked better! moreover, when i tried wearing warm/true autumn clothes, my skin looked dull, yet when i tried going for lighter shades, my skin looked better!
anyways, thanks to you dear peachie. ive now accurately found my undertones! instead of being mistyped as a warm-undertone typa girlie, i have green hues that sit between the borders of cool and yellow undertones! thank u so much! u have cured my conflicts surrounding my skin tone 😭💘
Does anybody have any product/brand recommendations for lip products with milk tea/red bean/warm dusty rose shades? I feel like I've looked through all the lip products on yesstyle and none of them catch my eye 😖😖
There are good peripera lipsticks with these shades the ink velvet ones are really good and not very pricey around £6/7
true!! been looking for it and mostly they all come out very cool toned when it arrives ☹️
