I was intimidated by the thought of making bias binding ,but I thought I’ll watch this video and your video was a great help ,thank you so much for this video .
I have been watching 17 videos full of overly complicated techniques and this was the easiest, most common sense way. It was not only helpful, but comforting and encouraging - the first video where I thought oh, this makes sense and I can do this.
This was the clearest explanation on making bias binding ~ and the first time seeing the 45 degree angle demonstrated w/ paper as an alternative! Your tutorial methodology was the key that unlocked my understanding to this topic❣️Thank you so much.
I am a slow learner but seeing it done makes it easier for me to learn. Will try this method.. thanks for your help. This link was forwarded to me by a quilter friend.
THANK YOU! I’m making the June Tailor quilt as you go tree skirt and hadn’t a clue how to make the binding. This tutorial is spot on! Concise and easy to follow instructions! You’re a gem!💞
After looking for the easiest way, you win! This is the easiest way and will be doing it today. Tried the one where you cut and sew and match up the lines, but so complicated. Thanks so much. Have a great day!
I have made binding before, just not bias binding. This is the best tutorial. My friend had me fold my square in half and in have again to make a triangle, and then cut the edge off. After I got all the pieces cut out, she could not remember how to put together. This tutorial was great! I will definitely have it up on the computer tomorrow when I put the tape together and next time I need to make bias tape. Thank you for a great video.
After watching several folding techniques, specialty ruler techniques, and other assorted videos, this is the only one that worked for me. No more tears...thank you very much.
As a left handed sewist, I really do appreciate that you took the time to show us what we have to do differently to get the same result. It gets tiring to have to translate everything all the time and some procedures can become hardships when all we want is the same simplicity than right handed individuals. As always, amazing videos, thank you very much.
Thank you, Laura, for making our sewing life easier. This is a very helpful tutorial and I appreciated your last comment about having everything ready when you start your quilt, I had never thought about it, but have noticed in your videos how you prepare everything before you begin to sew, makes finishing that much more enjoyable!
Absolutely wonderful and so easy to understand! I made my bias binding this morning for my new Christmas tree skirt! It turned out perfectly thanks to this awesome tutorial! Thank you!!!
Of the hundreds of TH-cam tutorials for bias binding, yours was the most logical, straightforward, most clearly/concisely taught...and well, just the easiest. Thank you from Arizona.
All these years i've been a sewer i've never quite understood the 45 degree angle. (not being very at one with anything mathematical) but after seeing your tutorial all has become very clear thank you.
I have been sewing for over fifty years and quilting for about five. I always learn something from your videos. I think you are the best instructor that I have seen. You are always clear and concise. Thank you for all that you do for us! I can't wait for your next video.
Yes, I have just watched several videos on biased tape making. I have sewn since age 11 and now 60. This is the absolutely best tutorial I have ever watched. Thank you for making a difficult process so very easy.
I stumbled upon your channel while looking at some sewing videos and I absolutely love you! One of my most favorite things about you, apart from your awesome and detailed directions, is the fact that you don’t waste time in the video with meaningless chatter. I can’t tell you how many videos I have skipped because they’re just rambling on instead of getting to the point. Thank you so much for making these videos! I’m a new sewer and they are going to be great for advancing my skills!
Hi Laura, I have never made bias binding. I watched your video twice before I started cutting. Your video was so simple I wonder why I never did this before! Thank you so much for taking time to show how it’s done and how simple it is!
Thank you so much!! Also sewing June Taylor tree skirt. I remember a couple of years ago I found your video for the same reason. You are my go to if I have a question. Thank you thank you for being such a wonderful teacher!! Oh and I’m left handed too. Please never stop making video……😊
Thank you, Laura. I’ve watched your other videos and have learned so much as a beginning quilter. Getting ready to trim and put the binding on the second quilt I’ve ever made. You’re a natural and gifted teacher. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Wonderful and clear tutorial. I need bias trim for a toddler dress and most of the tutorials on YT are for yards and yards of binding for quilts. I love that with your method, I can start with a smaller piece of fabric and not end up with so much excess. Thank you!
Terrific procedure. I needed to cover cording for piping on a pillow, so I checked out your quilt binding tutorial. Perfect. You were the only one that mentioned how many inches of binding I'd get with one-half yard.
An excellent explanation, and I especially liked how you showed rolling it up on the ruler, so easy and no twisting of fabric. Lots of uses for that method. Thanks!
Thank you for a fantastic video on making bias binding from a rectangle. I usually make continuous binding from a square but this time I would have to cut two smaller squares resulting in short segments and many seams. This will work beautifully!
I've watched many bias binding videos and most of them showed a special folding technique or a special ruler. Yours is by far the easiest and most understandable. Thanks.
Sew very clear and concise and simple, Laura! I particularly LOVE the part where you address sewing the strips together. I've always tried to get that 1/4" seam just right, but when you say to sew from one intersection to the opposite one. My struggle was getting the strips to align and I think I finally will be able to do it just right!! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your wonderful video. You helped me to finish my Granddaughter’s quilt in time for her first Christmas. She is a preemie baby born 5 weeks early. I’ve been putting it off for a while now. I love your videos!
Thank you! Its storming outside, so I couldn't make a trip to Joanns to purchase bias tape. I looked in my scrap pile and found some fabric for a project that calls for bias tape on outside pockets. Thanks again for the simple DIY! Have a blessed day!
Hello Laura, as I've posted some of my projects I've learned from you..... yes again, you teach us, me well.... you make my happy place (my sewing room), more happy... thank you again for teaching us on a positive learning level... Jon
So glad I found this video about bias cutting. You explain in more detail here (than other videos about bias cutting) what that method of cutting actually is - and, it's good to know details such as that, to me. TYSM for sharing this video with us.
Thank you so much for including us left handers. Most of the time, we have to figure out how to reverse any directions that are given. Very helpful to have it explained.
Thank you so much for this tutorial Laura. I am making my own extra wide double fold bias binding, needing 315". Your instructions even told me I had enough fabric (324") using the half yard method of cutting. You're the best!
You are an excellent instructor for us newbies! I have learned so much from your tutorials. I used your tutorial on how to make a memory pillow and they turned out wonderful. Thank you
Thank you so much! All the folding and marking videos for bias binding were too complicated for me to successfully recreate. Your instructions are so clear, concise, and practical. Yay! You made my day!
What an excellent demonstration! You made it look so easy and helped me understand why binding is called "bias binding" in the first place. What great teaching skills. Thank you for sharing them.
An exceptionally clear tutorial on bias binding. Thank you so much. No folding involved. I am going to try this now on a round table topper. Keeping my fingers crossed,
This is the best bias binding tutorial I have come across in the 3 years I've been looking on TH-cam. I put off sewing for years because the first tutorial I followed was so tedious and cumbersome. It took me hours. In fact, that tutorial even mentioned not to do it this way. LOL. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you Laura! So easy - no complex calculations, no graphing software, no theoretical math - just a piece of paper and 10th grade geometry. Imagine that :)
Great video tutorial! I am new to quilting and this video on bias binding is so well done. I was able to make bias binding for my quilt project after a single viewing.
Finally!! A bias binding tutorial that is easy and chill! I can totally sew this by hand ✋! The "continuous bias binding" tutorials where stressing me out so much 😢 thank youuuu! ❤
Thank you for a clear and simple demonstration. I needed the bias cutting method for using strips on projects other than large quilts and this was perfect. I'll be checking out your other videos, too.
I love binding to neaten raw edges on just about anything - a book cover, a reusable shopping bag, a placemat. Even just to add a strip of colour. I practiced on small items whenever I could. Love your videos, I’ve learnt so much - my sewing mum!
You, my lady, are a lifesaver! With a sewing crunch (making a ballgown for a ball) I tried a bag lining, but it wasn't looking amazing. So I wanted to do my bias binding technique I've used in the past. However this time I didn't have fabric where I could match up a ribbon to the fabric. So I wanted to do it with the fabric bias. I've watched tutorials before, but it seemed so hard. You make it look so easy and are the first who taught it without me getting daunted by the task.
I searched for a video to show making bias binding. This one was wonderful. I’ve watched a lot of your videos. I should have known you would give valuable information. Your directions were on point and you shared great tips. Many thanks. ❤️
I've tried to make it with the tube method a couple of times. Disaster both times. I am going downstairs right now to try this! Thank you so much. This does not look like magic. I can make regular binding fine and this looks very doable.
I made it! Your technique was amazing. It was so easy to follow your directions. I now have what seems like miles of bias binding waiting to bind my scalloped edge quilt. Thank you!!!!! I'm so grateful for making it possible to have a scallop edge on my quilt. I couldn't do the scalloped edge without being able to make bias binding.
Thanks so much for this video. Clear and concise instructions. I had no idea what it meant no matter how many articles or videos I watched. Mathematically challenged... Thank youuuu 💞🙏🏽🌺
Omg, I love you! I'm not a quilter but, quilters keep looking at me like I'm stupid when I ask how to do this. I have always screwed up the seams because, they didn't tell me about the intersection. A lot of time I needed bias tape for a circle skirt or an armhole that I couldn't find a matching color for. Yes, I'm anal that way. You should see my thread racks. They are separated by color in a rainbow patterns and by type of thread. There are ten. Thank you so much. This will save me a bunch of money considering how much tape I use. That stuff gets expensive. I have a ton of half yards sitting around that are too small for anything but baby clothes.
Hi, Laura-A BIG THANK YOU! I am making masks and I needed to make some bias tape as I was out. I struggled for 3-4 days, watching all different videos and could not figure out how to sew them together without them coming out uneven. I know you know what I am talking about. After watching your video a few times and your close up explanation on sewing “the intersections,” I got it!!! I have so much fabric, I am now going to hone my new skill and get a variety of bias tape made. Thank you over and over again! So excited!
Never made binding, and decided I was going to up my knowledge in this area. Wow!, you are a terrific teacher; very clear, very thorough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Great tutorial for bias tape. . . 1st time I see how to use 45 degree angle. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent. Greetings from Bakersfield California
OMG! I have been TERRUFIED of making my own bias binding until seeing your video. Your tutorial was the BEST! and trust me I've seen a lot!! Your explanations are spot on! GREAT JOB!!
Wow, I love your tutorials and informational videos. This was exactly what I needed. I'm making a fish shaped placemat for our cats and the pattern called for 90" of bias binding. Oops, I had no clue how to cut it or join the pieces. Now I know exactly how to make bias binding thanks to your excellent tutorial. THANK YOU so much for passing on this knowledge!! 💕
@sewveryeasy Thanks Laura. I was told that bias-binding is very difficult. Yet again - you made it EZ - as promised in your name! LOL - not even going to listen to any other teaching videos. So many comments here stated that after watching several, yours was best. I'll listen to their experience and use my time to begin cutting! Enjoy your day - L
Thank you for another very informative video! I hadn’t made bias binding in several years so this video has inspired me to use it again. I almost always learn something new from you. You’re terrific!
Your presentation was great. I am working on bias for pipping for deck cushions and really panicked when folding when the fabric was very very thick and raveling... Thanks again for incredible clarity!
I've watched about 76 videos on making bias binding, and this is the only one that clicked for me. Your directions are excellent. Thanks so much!
Agreed. I turned two fat quarters into scraps watching another video. Thank you
Ditto! Finally one that was thoroughly explained.
Ikr plus I now have a ton of bias binding toys.😂😂😂😂
I was intimidated by the thought of making bias binding ,but I thought I’ll watch this video and your video was a great help ,thank you so much for this video .
I'm with you it wasn't clicking for me until I watched her video!!
I have watched several ways to make bias binding, your way is the easiest for me.
I've been quilting for over 35 years, and this is the best and clearest tutorial I've seen on making bias binding. Thanks!
Connie Beane I just watched that tutorial. It is good, but have you tried the continuous bias way, a lot less sewing and work.
I have been watching 17 videos full of overly complicated techniques and this was the easiest, most common sense way. It was not only helpful, but comforting and encouraging - the first video where I thought oh, this makes sense and I can do this.
Great tutorial. A teacher you are .
Made my first bias binding and am now hand sewing it on because of your thorough explanations. Very much appreciated 😊
Thank you, thank you ,thank you. I have watched many videos and taken a quilting class. This method is so easy to do and remember.

You are an excellent teacher! Your demonstration and explanation was clear and concise. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
You are always my go-to for clear and concise instruction. Thank you -- again -- for being right there when I needed help.
So helpful! Thank you! Made my first bias binding with confidence and I'm so pleased with the results. Excellent guidance!
This video really solved all the mysteries of making and sewing bias binding. Thank you so much!
You, my lady, are a lifesaver! With a sewing crunch (making a ballgown for a ball) I tried a bag lining, but it wasn't looking amazing. Best instructions I've seen to make bias binding. Thank you
I've tried to make it with the tube method a couple of times.
Absolutely agree with several posters; perfectly clear explanation for making bias binding. Thank you Laura!
Amazing! I’m sold on this lovely method, will do this tomorrow on the potholders many thanks lovely lady😘🇨🇦
Finally a tutorial I understood!! Thank you!
This is the best tutorial for binding on TH-cam, a thousand thanks.
I have a ton of half yards sitting around that are too small for anything but baby clothes.
glad I could help:)
Hi, Laura-A BIG THANK YOU! I am making masks and I needed to make some bias tape as I was out. I struggled for 3-4 days, watching all different videos and could not figure out how to sew them together without them coming out uneven. I know you know what I am talking about. Wow, your instructions are perfect! I sure do appreciate this.
Never made binding, and decided I was going to up my knowledge in this area. Wow!, you are a terrific teacher; very clear, very thorough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
thanks and welcome
Great tutorial! Definitely going to try this. She is clear and explains the process without a lot of extra talk-which I like.
Best tutorial for bias binding that I have EVER seen! Thank you so, so much!!
Laura you are amazing, your explanation is so easy. You are a beautiful clever lady!
Your method is so simple. I've got to tell my sister to watch this video. Thanks for sharing!
Great tutorial for bias tape. . .
1st time I see how to use 45 degree angle.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent.

OMG. This tutorial was a game changer for me. So easy to understand. Thank you!
You are a quilting queen for sure. Thank you for sharing you knowledge.
Thanks for including the directions for left-handed cutting!
Thank you Laura, this finally makes sense to me. I have watched so many videos and have botched some fabric I’m off to try on a fat quarter. ❤️
You are such a clear, concise teacher! Thank you, it was enjoyable to learn from you.
Thank you for another very informative video! I hadn’t made bias binding in several years so this video has inspired me to use it again. I almost always learn something new from you. You’re terrific!

Your tutorial is the easiest tutorial I've seen by far on cutting bias binding. Thank you so much ☺ 💓
The way you explained bias binding is so very simple and easy to understand. Thank so very much. H. Hodnett
Thank u! I was a bit confused on how to cut the bias binding. This I understand and really there is just a bit of fabric left over. Great tutorial!
