next level skill. the ability to enunciate clearly with minimal mouth movement back and forth rapidly between human and character is something i haven't seen since. it's almost like the dialog was done by someone else
It also never occurred to me how much harder it must be without smiling haha. You can even try it yourself. She’s always smiling which is lovely and I’m assuming, helpful
I loved Sherri, seeing this I learned that she worked a lot longer than I thought, but I was happy she was part of my growing up. I was devastated learning about her death. But she’d want us to keep smiling when we kept her in mind.
I can’t say The Rain in Spain is Mainly on the Plain without putting my lips together at some point. Shari had talent, for sure! And to alternate between all the voices and have a conversation with her characters. Wow.
Not only was Shari very good at all the technical aspects of ventriloquism( the art of throwing your voice), but she performed it with a special charm that very few ventriloquists are even capable of. Shari Lewis was undoubtedly the greatest ventriloquist of all time.
Her show was my absolute favorite back in the day. Sometimes when you see an old clip like this, you are disappointed. Not so here. As an adult, I can see how immensely talented she was in a way I never could when I was a child. She was amazing.
Lambchop always stole the show, but I never realized just how pretty and talented Shari was! Loved the back story in the description too. Thanks for sharing!
I was 5 years old in 1962. I remember how much I loved Shari Lewis. I loved Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse. I loved Sheri because she was witty, intelligent, loving, and very, very fun to watch.
I loved her show when I was a kid. She was such a talented ventriloquist and performer. She was even a magician as she proved in her later shows. May she rest in peace.
Lamb chops smile makes my life 😮❤😍! Shari was one of the most beautiful Talented master puppeteer and ventriloquist ever to grace our earth. This warms my heart so much. I had no idea that it started as early as the 1950! Now I know why my mom turned my on to lamb chop in the 80s! 😢 thanks momma ❤
Wow. I watched her all the time in the early 50s. She was like magic, a nice, loving lady, and Lamb Chop was my very favorite! Thanks for making me smile all over again!
I watched Shari Lewis as a youngster, and years later I watched her with my own son and daughter. I remember her in an episode of "Car 54 Where are you" with the towering Fred Gwynne" And as a Trekkie, I loved "The Lights of Zetar" What a great talent!
something so simple and made children every where SO happy, including me. She was very talented and obviously really cared about kids. What a treasure! Thank you so much for uploading this!
Another wonderful visit into my childhood, courtesy of Gregg Oppenheimer. I'm so glad I caught this video. Shari was an idol of mine. I had all four of her puppets - Lamb Chop, Charley Horse, Hush Puppy, and Wing Ding. In this delightful video, Shari has on the same outfit she's wearing on the cover of 'Fun in Shariland,' which in 1958 was one of my very first record albums.
Love Shari Lewis so much Like Paul Winchell and Jimmy Nelson Shari Lewis became part of so many lives and memories Always a Legend and such a special Lady
I was 10 when she passed away and I feel as if a major part of my childhood died with her. I loved her,and lambchop growing up. Even now,as I type,I'm sitting here with my 2 year old ,who can't get enough of her. She was truly a beautiful, talented individual. May she rest in peace.
While earing Lamb Chop saying I am moving for the moving pictures I truly spitted my coffee all over. Loved you has a kid, love you as a adult. Love you forever Shari AND Lamb Chop! RIP Shari and XOX Lamb Chop!
Shari was truly a positive influence in my life growing up. I am happy that she along with Mr. Rogers, the Kratt brothers, The Magic School Bus, Wishbone, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Arthur were a part of my childhood.
Shari was the Darci Lynne of her day! In addition to her artistry as a singer and puppeteer, she conducted symphony orchestras and co'wrote an episode of the original STAR TREK .
Wow just WOW. As a kid you just appreciate nor understand the difficulty and beauty in this work. Absolutely lovely to see this. Thank you for sharing.
Most ventriloquists substitute sounds for letters that are hard to pronounce without moving your lips, but here she is saying “the rain in spain” etc. she was the best of the best
She was a very very gifted talented gem.💎 Beloved by millions of children AND adults. a precious part of my childhood also...going back almost 70 years❗
I watched 5 minutes and 42 seconds of this video with a smile on my face... Wow... The smile on her was just too beautiful and the talent... Just, wow. I remember watching her show when I was a kid and loving it, but I had nevet seen her this young.

Oh ehat a wonderful story! Ty for sharing this. As a child I was a big fan of lambchop, I even had her doll! Many years later I bought DVDs and doll of her for my daughter and she too loved lambchop!
She is really good. I never appreciated just exactly how talented a ventriloquist Shari Lewis was. RIP Shari

shari has such a calming voice, she sounds like a princess. she’s incredibly talented!
Are you implying she voiced Princess Nida in the HB cartoon Arabian Knights?
How any network could pass (at the moment) on Shari Lewis charm and talent is unbelievable. I'm glad that Shari got her big break two years later.
NBC has a knack for doing that.
And, she was BEAUTIFUL, too.
I was 5 years old in 1962, and I loved Sherry Lewis. She was so attractive and charming and intelligent and vibrant and really, really fun to watch
It took 2 years? The Dastards!
@@marcelparker6755Remember well
Shari was talented and beautiful. Not just an excellent ventriloquist; she also had a beautiful singing voice. RIP Shari. We all miss you very much.
I grew up with Lambchop and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, such wholesome shows. I appreciate their genius so much more now that I’m older.
She was so lovely and had a beautiful singing voice. She could have easily been a Broadway sensation even by today's standards.
I agree, but she's well above almost anything Broadway has to offer today. The standards have dropped considerably.
Her show was my absolute favorite back in the day. Sometimes when you see an old clip like this, you are disappointed. Not so here. As an adult, I can see how immensely talented she was in a way I never could when I was a child. She was amazing.
Yes, after Shari all ventriloquist are amateurs
Lambchop always stole the show, but I never realized just how pretty and talented Shari was!
Loved the back story in the description too. Thanks for sharing!
She was and still is so beautiful. May your legacy live on Shari. We love you, Lamb Chop, Hush Puppy and Charlie Horse. Rest Well💗

I remember her & Lambchop! But I didn’t know she was so talented! To give and take between her and the puppet were seamless. Amazing talent!
My first childhood crush... and inspiration to become a puppeteer/ventriloquist/and family entertainer myself!
Same here Ron Schneider...RIP...and Shari may Lamb Chop and Charlie live on in your daughter Mallory....
I'm stunned... what an accomplished talent.. a true treasure.
She was absolutely beautiful

That’s some incredible voice work and strong acting! I love the wholesome humor. Wow! She was truly amazing!
Look how young Shari Lewis was back in 1958. She was only 25 years old back then, and I'm going to be that age in 2026 just as she was back in 1958.
Awww you're a baby! This comment was adorable lol

Shari made her network debut in 1956, on an episode of Captain Kangaroo, which, unfortunately, is not known to be in existence.
Incredible! What a talent!

Comedic talent that is entertaining in itself; 🆓 from attacking the character, persona and likeliness of others.
What an amazing talent.
What an incredible talent she was
While earing Lamb Chop saying I am moving for the moving pictures I truly spitted my coffee all over.

I grew up with “Shari’s Passover Surprise” on videotape. I’ve never seen her so young. What a gorgeous woman! No wonder Groucho gave her the brows!
